I started playing Minecraft back in beta, and minetest really captures that slightly clunky wonder you felt back then! I hope it picks up more and brings some amazing talent to it's modding scene!

Minetest is open source and it's recommended from coding not from playng games but nobody say you can"t play it

seed is not same if you copy it world is always random

@@BB_Gaming_cz It does give the same seed, but you have to make sure you're on the same world type as me. If my world type is v7, and you want my seed, then you should only use v7 world gen in the world creation menu, or else, it will generate a different world, because different world gen types have their separate seed system. I had to test this myself just to make sure that I'm not going crazy after reading your comment, lol. Also, remember that this video came out way before Ethereal NG was activated, so if you are using Ethereal NG to try and recreate my world, you will not get the same spawn region as me. Although Ethereal NG doesn't change the actual terrain heightmaps, it still changes the biome and decorations, like trees, structures, etc.

Tbh I think minecraft is also a pretty closed game, and minetest is a lot more open which is why minetestvis better in some way

i rembuer playing minetest on my dads old lunex laptop when i was in third grade i used to record shity KZbin vids about the game with my friends i stoped playing but the game fills me with lots of nostalgia and im now 14 entering 9th grade i perfer minecraft cause theres more to do and pvps better but i still love the game for its simplicty and nastolga btw the channal i used to upload the vids to is deleted

You must look at the mod versions that are available. Even networking works great. Texture packs can now go as high as 512x512 per block, insane. I did create a new texture pack. There are many mods available with new animals etc.

Thank you for the content and the FOSS advocacy I see you pushing in the comments here. The enshittification (actual word, look it up) of modern technology will inevitably lead more and more people to their breaking points. I know damn well I've reached mine. I don't know what made me google "game like minecraft". well i know, its because my pc spec is potato. dont mention graphic card, my pc even its brand new, still, it processor is i7 650, made 15 year ago. 10 year ago i play minecraft pirated version, well pentium 4 still laggy. after some patient i uninstall minecraft and play gta sa, which suprisingly run normal. Then there minecraft pe android, trying install it, but the result is same, disappointing. i play pubg, coc and all smoothly, but playing minecraft make my phone hot and ruining battery. what the hell minecraft? you are pixelated game, why you need much resource???? well after complain to local community i just know, minecraft is woody wagon with engine of sport car. their graphic theme is pixelated where their engine is same as other 3d game that require $500 graphic card. --- firstly i dont know minetest, "game like minecraft" show me stonecraft which is like android and ios. they can do what is do with affordable price. stonecraft can do what minecraft do, even more. with less pc requirement, mod, open source, and of course it free! from them i learn minetest. so untill now i still wandering why minecraft need gigabyte storage and high graphic card, when minetest and stonecraft 5000% more eficient (100% just like minecraft can do + 4900% more minecraft cannot do ).

Minetest is an engine to hold different games and experiences. It's not supposed to have a fancy theme. Minetest doesn't have music, because, again, it's a game engine, similar to what 4J Studios is working on right now with the Elements Engine.

I like minetest because I don't have to deal with microsofts bullshit account system. I havent played minecraft in over a year because no matter how many accounts i make, minecraft just wont let me log in. Minetest? Nah, just click the .exe

Christ! Over 2000 blocks down for everything to become common? Diamonds over 1000 blocks down? This seems like a masochist's dream. WAAAY too much digging. I thought I dug deep in this game, but this is something else. Who in their right mind would dig like this? I'm going to be honest, mining in this game is tedious.

If you generate a V6 or V5 world type, you'll find diamonds, iron, etc. a lot faster compared to a V7 world type. If you really like V7 world generation, but want V5/6 ore generation, then there's a mod which can customise the depths of ores to be a whole lot easier on V7 worlds. Play around with the different types of world generation algorithms :) You'll find this on the world creation screen. I just like to work for my rewards, so I chose V7 world generation.

@@dee23gaming Yeah, I do prefer V6. That's the generator used during the early 0.2 and 0.4 version, right? It feels a lot more game-like than V7. Don't get me wrong, V7 creates some gorgeous terrain, but from a gameplay perspective, it feels excessively grindy. Half the time your spawn doesn't do well as a starting point. V7 feels very fitting for creative mode, as the terrain lends its self well to big builds.

Another option for bones/bonemeal is mobs_skeleton. Also if you want sheep/sheep wool mobs_animal. Cotton seems very cool though, always thought it was weird minecraft didnt have cotton
