Great looking watch and I agree, the rubber strap looks a lot better. What's interesting to note is that the seconds hand is usually a good indicator of whether the watch is functioning. See through caseback provides you with the same functionality without additional clutter!

Very nice review. I like your calm factual delivery style. I own this 27.01 also and find it to be a charming Watch well suited for many different wearing opportunities. There is definitely a joy in wearing a sub 7mm thick watch especially when you realize it’s far more robust than you would imagine.
@BeansAndBezels3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the kind words. I agree - this watch is a lot more versatile than you would think, and it manages to feel more robust than you would expect from a watch of it's size. Unless you're in frequent contact with water, I think it makes a great everyday work watch.

Very comprehensive review. Thanks for sharing. Have you tried fitting the Ming steel bracelet to this watch? Does it look good? Would be good if you add a video on that.

Thanks for watching! The bracelet fits this watch well. I will try to make a video with it next.

Good design cheaply made but cleverly so it's overall satisfying. I can dig it. The only issue is not with the watch, but with the business model. I get that demand for the initial watch was hard to forecast. Subsequently, it's simply a plan, a ploy, a business model of artificial scarcity. These watches could easily be mass produced. If they don't want to make more available that's okay too, but handle the releases better and don't bother with press releases. No reason to drum up demand more than what already also obviously exists.
@BeansAndBezels3 жыл бұрын
That is all reasonable criticism, thanks for sharing. But I think the difficulty in acquiring a MING is greatly exaggerated. I've been able to acquire 4 MINGs (2 directly, 2 secondary) without any real issues or having to pay large premiums. I think people drum up the scarcity to be significantly worse than it actually is. The supply/demand game is a delicate one to play, but I think they're doing pretty well with their recent releases - 17.09 & 20.01. MING are also not alone in this, and based on their product life cycles and design life cycles, I'm more easily convinced that they have production limitations, when compared to some other greatly exaggerated production issues like that from the Omega Snoopy for example.

@@BeansAndBezels For sure Ming is not alone. I understand waiting months for handmade watches from independent watchmakers. A lot of what else is going on I cannot understand and certainly won't be part of.

Congrats on nabbing a coveted Ming piece, B&B! Your review is great, and hits upon the important points of the design and fitment that are lost on the pedantic # crunchers. It's an elegant neoclassical aesthetic that earns its pedestal place within the microbrand community. Thanks for the insight, as always. Enjoy it!😉

Thanks for watching Kevin! Yeah, this is a different spin on some of the same principles used in Bauhaus and minimalist design - this watch more so than other Mings.

What, no lume shot? Just kidding! This review is up to your usual high standards but since this is an new brand to a lot of viewers, more history or context around Ming would be welcome. An horological collective formed and funded by six enthusiasts from different locations around the world is not your typical watch company.
