I’m watching this in an oncology ward in Germany, recovering from my operation to remove the tumor. Jingles, I’ve learnt that we treat with radiation, surgery, chemotherapy and love. Sending you much love! You’ll beat this because you’re Jingles! I’ve come back to edit this again as I missed something very important, as Katherine said recently #youarenotalone

Dear Paul/Jingles! You have given me so many treasured moments for years. I think this is the time I try to give back a little. I have subscribed to your channel back in March of 2015... Wait, what? I have started watching you way back when you have called the channel Bohemian Eagle. I can clearly remember watching your videos in 2013 when I have worked in the UK... Meh, screw that, I do not trust KZbin statistics. Whatever, I have been watching you for more than ten years. A lot has happened since then. I have lost loved ones (and not that loved ones), got through break up, depression, and financial crisis. I have also met my wife, got married, and bought my own house (well 50/50 with the wife, still paying the mortgage, but still). You have been there for me all those years through and through. I was able to sneak in a few smiles even at my lowest points thanks to you. I love to retell your stories to my wife and make her smile as well. You are kind of a part of this family too. So I am very happy to announce, around 01:00 am, 27th of March my beautiful little son saw light the first time. It was a lamp at the hospital but I digress. He is healthy, beautiful, strong and quite loud, and I love him for all of those and more. And you know what? I can not wait to introduce him to your glorious videos. (At least the child friendly ones first, just to be sure.) So hold on old man! We are damn well counting on you! It was a long journey and I am planning it to be a lot longer!

Doctors and nurses will do the medical part but you need to put in your work as well. Your #1 job is staying confident. Many before you have won against cancer and so shall you! We are several hundredthousand people around the globe rooting for you!

@PaulGermany I couldn’t agree with you more, one thing I’ve found that is vitally important is to have a companion who is on a similar journey to you, someone who knows the disease and knows how to kick it, someone who can talk frankly about it as well. Mr Charlton, if you need that traveling companion, it seems that there are many here willing to help just reach out, call and we are there.

I had my own "trip through Wonderland" and learned from that and 30 years working for a major healthcare outfit that the patient's attitude is a major factor in recovery. I've seen patients who should have passed away after cancer survive and thrive because they refused to give up. "Never give up ... Never surrender" - Tim Allen · Jason Nesmith of Galaxy Quest. Lord Admiral Nelson might have said something like that if he had thought of it.

I got the same message, as you Jingles, when I was 33 years old and just met a girl (now wife) of my life. Got diagnosed, got surgery, got 20 cm of my intestines removed, 8 years back. No metastases, no chemo, no nothing. The surgery resolved everything. I hope that your case will be the same. You did the right thing, there was no time to play a hero. And one more thing, you, as well as me, we were really lucky, that the tumor bleaded. Thats what my doctor told me. Because, if it wasnt, I wouldnt be able to write a message of support to you. Good luck, you Old Bean and Godspeed.

I won't write a novel, but my father had a cancer around that area ten years ago. He had surgery to remove some of the bowel/intestine. He's in his early 80s now and is still a tank. Going skiing Wednesday. Navy vet of 30 years. 20 at sea. 10 at a desk. 10 more running an engineering contractor firm working for the navy building a certain underwater boat class. If he can do it so can you. Anyway, you said it yourself but this cancer is very treatable. Pester the doctors to get you in now. You never know, man. Make them do their job. Now. Positive vibes from this side of the pond.

I had a colonoscopy and they found two polyps. Both were benign. To reiterate, my doctor told me that if you're going to get cancer, bowel cancer is the one you want. It's the slowest growing cancer, very treatable and no reason to die from it. I know too many guys that did the macho man thing and waited too long to treat cancers and paid the ultimate price.

Jingles, I have to say... that hit me hard. I had a very dear friend of mine die of breast cancer because she just couldn't be bothered to get her symptoms checked out. Not saying be a hypochondriac... but if you feel "weird" or "wrong" - see a friggin' doctor!! Advice I, myself haven't listened to... and am now paying for. Fortunately not fatally, but definitely painfully, and expensively. I'll wallow along with my own issues, but at least I'm not dying. At least, not any faster than anyone else is. The point is: The profession of "Doctor" exists for a _reason_ . None of us can know everything about everything, so we have to break things up into chunks a single human can learn and understand. I used to do computer support for a doctor's office - and realized we pretty much did the exact same job, just on different "complex systems". He could only understand a bit of what I told him was going on with his computer problems, and I could only understand a bit of what he talked about on the medical problems he dealt with. Specialization is how we advance as a species... so consult with a damn specialist!! It can literally save your life.

Ok, like you said - there are different levels of "bad" news. This is what a co-worker had about 9yrs ago. It was caught early (Stage 1). Followed immediately by surgery to remove it. After some recovery time - he was ok and back to normal. Periodic follow-up visits to monitor the area, in case of re-occurrence, for 5 yrs . . .it seems like this time frame is what the Dr was concerned about. As I said, that was 9yrs ago - so now it's just checked during his normal Dr visits. He's all good. Wishing the same for you Sir.

When I was around 47 I started noticing dark red blood embedded in my stool, but only maybe one time in ten. At my next visit to my regular Doc I told him about it. The following Monday I was at the Colo-Rectal Doctor. I told him what I saw and he was like "we need to do the procedure sooner rather than later". 48 hours later I was on the table at 1pm having not eaten in 30 hours. They removed a very large pre-cancerous polyp that was occasionally leaking blood. Had I waited until age 50 I most likely would have had cancer.

So glad you got there early. So glad you're getting this message out there. If you find blood in your 'movements' get it checked out. I lost a good friend who ignored the blood he found and it cost him. Early detection is key.

Jingles- I am SO glad you did not ignore the cancer. My father did. It was too late to remove it when he finally went in. They wanted to do a colostomy, but he felt "It wasn't manly to have to have a bag". They gave him 5-1/2 months to live,. He was in a lot of pain when he died. So folks, when you hit 45- 50 or earlier, get the inspection. Especially if there is a family history. I have been thru 5-6 of them and they found several polyps that would have been cancer, and removed them.( Never smoked, drank, or did drugs!) Every 5 years or sooner if your oncologist recommends it.

As someone who went through the same situation, the only thing I can say is don't allow it to beat you mentally, because that 3/4 of the fight. Best of luck.

Having cancer myself I know exactly how you are feeling. The days prior to a new scan, which I get every 3 months, are hell. I sincerely hope that the treatments will work for you and ensure that you can continue to make us all happy with your videos. 🤞🤞🤞

Good luck with your recovery Mr Jingles. You very kindly signed a picture of a Panzer iv that my son proudly presented to you at Bovington many years ago. We haven’t forgot your kindness and wish you all the best.

Positive attitude. Hopeful prognosis. Humor. If we could all have the outlook and attitude that Paul does, wouldn't the world be a better place?

Hello Jingles! Taking us along for the ride is a really kind thing for you to do, both for you and for us viewers too. Cancer is something that seems to hit you when you're alone. It takes serious wisdom and bravery not to do so and speak out about it. I'm proud of you (which is an insane thing to say to somebody I've met once in my life... but you know. Internet is weird).

As soon as I saw Mingles on the sofa, cuppa in hand, I thought "shit, this won't be good news". I hope you well with your surgery and recovery, Jingles.

Dear Paul/Jingles, I'm watching your videos for a long time now, I can even remember the good old Bohemian Eagle times. :D You made me and several members of my family happy and entertained us countless times, thank you so much for that! It was great meeting you and Rita at EpicCon Frankfurt in Germany where we could verify that you are at least as nice as your videos made us believe. Concerning the cancer stuff: My father had bowel cancer 25 years ago when he was just 50. It was quite bad, but he managed to survive - because he was stubborn and wanted to live! :) Sadly he passed away just yesterday, but he was able to continue to live his life, see me grow up and be a great dad. I hope you'll be able to enjoy at least 25 more years with a lot of fun. I wish you all the best Paul.
