@SteGy Жыл бұрын
@Mr Cael i think using 18mm will work so long as the hole in the middle is still 6m. 8m will do the trick so long as the rubber spacers are 6m. Ideally you dont want much wiggle room within the setup, but if all youve got is 6m 18mm, id try that out. I think it should work just fine. You could also use the washers that came with the pedals

i tried this hack for the better part of a month now and thought it deserves a review as the idea really is brilliant. so first of all i'd say the feel of the pedal improves tons with this. foot pressure needed increases, it just feels like a brake, no hard stop and with different spacer hardnesses you can adjust the pedal to your liking. its just overall better in every way. so thank you very much for this. i love how my brake feels and i love how this simply makes the t-lcm a way better pedal set. anyway, here's how i'd tweak it: - use spacers with m8 hole size: with the m6 the spacers rub on the center metal rod and thus start to disintegrate right off the bat. the material wears off on the inside and the force needed to compress it gradually decreases. Also it lets the rubber stick on the rod and decreases the expansion rate of the compressed rubber. a bit of rubber-safe lube helps with this though... - use elastomer spacers instead of simple rubber: yes this will make it a bit more expensive but the rather cheap rubber just tends to lose its strength and structure pretty quickly. mine startet braking on the outer surface after about a week. better quality elastomer spacers will take the compression cycles for longer and stay more compression force compliant. - center the spacers: use a ring of double-sided tape to stick the spacers (centered) on the m6 washers. this will help against rubbing away material on the inside and helps an even load distribution and therefor improves lifespan and structural integrity of the spacers. thanks again cheers

Thank you for this share! It just made the pedals much more realistic. I was using the red springs and it felt too mushy, not enough control on the progressiveness of the pedal. I don't have a proper rig (Playseat Challenge) so my stiffness cannot be that high but still, the pedals are way more enjoyable now. I tried the setup like you showed it and it seemed a bit too stiff for me but you never know, it's possible that I would change the setup in the future. I needed a bit of feel to the pedal so I kept a red spring, therefore my setup is: - Pedal - Red spring - Washer, - Medium rubber piece - Washer - Large rubber piece - Washer - Hard plastic piece - Sensor Thank you again, Marius

Ok, so I bought it. I got rubber spacers with a strength of A45 and A38. First I tried the A45 with a red Spring that comes with the T-LCM, but I use so much braking force that I still had a very significant bump once the spring was fully compressed. With the A45 and A38 in combination it feels awesome, I'm even considering buying some harder once A55 or harder to limit the travel, but for now I'm pretty happy. Thank you, that video was really helpful, my lap times in ACC are about 0.2 sec faster, I never thought that 20€ make such a difference.

This mod is a simple way to get a nice feeling of progressive stiffness in the brake pedal, something you won't get with the linear stock springs. However the durability of this mod doesn't seem good in my experience. I bought the updated set of black (stiffness A 55, medium soft) and grey (stiffness A 45, soft) bushings, and started with using the softer bushings since I don't like a very stiff brake pedal. But over time the bushings got worn pretty badly. The material sticks to the center shaft which causes high friction, this eats into the center hole of the bushings. As the hole gets larger the bushings start to get "squeezed out" to one side, away from the center, and eventually they start to tear open. I've since switched to the black bushings which are a bit stiffer and should be considerably more durable. I've gotten used to the feeling of a stiffer pedal but after a while they also started to show tendencies of being squeezed. So before it got too bad, I took them apart, cleaned the shaft from the sticky residue left by the bushings, and put some lithium grease on the shaft before reassembling the bushing stack. However, it didn't take long before the grease was gone and they started to get squeezed again.

Have been using this for around a week now but finding it to be too stiff for my liking even when just using the rubber spacers. Might be because I'm on a playseat challenge though. High force on the pedals causes it to lift. I'm working on a fix for it though. Today I tried out some different combinations with the mod. The way I've found works best for me is with the red spring. My current setup from loadcell to pedal is: Red spring Red spring connector piece Large washer Medium rubber spacer Large washer Large rubber spacer Large washer Small washer Small washer The small washers being the ones which come with the pedals. I've used those to reduce the movement in the brake pedal. Overall I've very happy with the results. I think once I finish with my mods to the playseat to have the pedals fixed more securely, I'll try out the rubber spacers fully. Thank you for the video!

Not a snap back spring sensation. Hard pedal but able to actuate the pressure for great modulation. Hi, i just tried the mod and found the resistance of the rubber spacers varying randomly. After some research i found the cause was the rubber stack having slip and shear between the pieces, causing deformation orthogonally against the shaft instead. You can see this effect at 0:25. My solution was to remove the metal spacers and instead connect the rubber spacers with 5mm wide zip-ties. In fact if you look at the new CSL Loadcell design, you can see something similar. 3D-Printing spacers specifically would be a better solution probably, but so far the zip-ties seem to work.

Hi! Fisrt of all, thanks for your knowledge sharing! As some other guys have mentioned, this is very stiff to me, and besides having the same 45 rubber stifness as you (I have ordered everything you mentioned) , they do not seem to flex like yours... maybe material quality, or maybe not enough gym from my side... 😆 I am only trying with the rubber stuff, without the skate bushings, since they have not yet arrived. But even so... In my case, the skate bushings seems to have been a waste of money. Maybe I need to get used to more force, because I have just upgraded from t3pa (with canonical mod) to t-lcm. Anyway, I am trying now black spring up, medium rubber on the middle, and red spring down and it feels better then before anyway, and it does eliminates the springs full compression wall! Just wanted to leave my feedback for someone who likes some brake pedal travel and not THAT much of braking force! Also, worths to mention that I am using a Playseat Challenge chair. Thumbs up for you and your video without second thought, great work anyway!

Thanks for the interesting feedback. It could be because your using a Playseat Challenge that you need run the brake a softer than what I can manage. Someone else with a Playset Challenge also said something similar recently. The sim rig setup certainly affects this sort of thing. As you've found, mixing rubber and spring resistance is another viable option. 👍

I ordered the parts a few days ago and have found it super stiff - there is hardly any movement in the pedal once this mod is done. Something must be wrong because in the video you can see the black rubber squashing but the ones I have don’t. They are the exact ones linked in the description.

@@SDK2006b The company does produces these in different shore ratings. I guess it's possible there was a mix up and you were a sent a harder set of washers than 45.

Hi, great video & I bought the components. Tried with just the black rubber ones & it reminded me of the first load cell I bought for my old T3PA pedals: very short travel & stiff, good for Formula cars but not great for others where you need more feel as the brake progresses. Tried the skateboard conical additions & for me it was way too stiff, the pedal hardly moved so I had no feel for progression at all, it was stiffer than the red springs & all the washers together so like stamping on concrete, very little feel but a lot of braking when calibrated correctly. I went back to the standard springs & they gave a lot of flexibility & feel. I'm not sold on the elastomer progression thing, especially as I think it only comes to life when you're stamping directly down onto the pedal & exerting a lot of force; my rig has me quite horizontal so I prefer a bit of 'throw', as some like to call it, in the pedal. Great option though, & much cheaper than the heavily priced alternative offerings. Great channel, keep the ideas coming :)

Thanks for the detailed feedback, it's good to know. You're the first one to come back with some results. I suppose these types of mods aren't going to suit everyone. I used to have the Fanatec V3's with the brake performance kit installed, then moved onto Heusinkveld Pro pedals, and then these T-LCM's with this mod. I've always liked the feel of this method of brake resistance.

I would remove the skate bushings and add the red tlcm spring on top of the rubber ones, so you have defo a preload added. See if you like that

The improved feel of this mod is incredible, really adds to the realism and allowed me to be much more accurate. But for the life of me I can't figure out how to make this mod more durable. Even with grease/oil the rubber wears out within a few days and either completely deforms or wears down so much it splits and falls off. I'm surprised more haven't commented this which makes me wonder if I've done something wrong? I've tried the 45, 55 and even 69 hardness and none lasted more than around 15 hours of gameplay.
@johng4357 Жыл бұрын
Just ordered this mod. Hawkeng are now selling a double set at 45a and 55a shore for only £13 on Amazon. For grease, i think silicon grease is the way to go for compatibility with rubber and metal, or red rubber grease should also be ok. Look forward to giving it a go, will have a play to see what feels good. I think I'll try more of the short stack rather than the long ones tho to minimise diagonal shear type deformation. Also bought both metal and nylon m6x25 washers as well as the skateboard bushings but these are 10mm id so i think I'll only use them if absolutely necessary Thanks for the review and in effect doing the development on these parts!
@johng4357 Жыл бұрын
Just tried this and similar to others, found this to be insanely stiff even with a full stack of the softer 45a rubbers (no skateboard bush). I could compress the stack maybe 1cm at full braking and was pushing the pedal so hard that the entire T-LCM base was flexing despite mounted rigidly to 4040 profile. I think hawkeng either changed their spec or just have poor quality control (the 45a felt no different to the 55a honestly)

Gave this a try but found that on my GT Omega Art cockpit, there was way too much flex, even on the softest/weakest configuration! Might need to find a remedy though as it did seem to work well otherwise! Great channel btw!
@SimRacingCorner3 жыл бұрын
Thanks James. Yeah, you do need a solid pedal deck as you are pushing a lot more force in the brake than the springs. Maybe you stiffen your pedal deck up propping something under the plate.

what I did to my art cocpit is mount 2 aluminum profiles on each side to prevent flex, works like a charm.

Got the items from Amazon. However, maybe the product changed or something but the washers were slightly smaller diameter than the bumpers. I installed and it worked great but the bumpers wore out really fast because the washers were too small. Had to by larger ones and redo the install with fresh bumpers. Hope they last longer than last ones.

All my bits came the other day! (skateboard bushes took longer than I expected from ebay, but the guys from Hawksworth engineering were great, ordered those rubber bushes fairly late in the day, still came next day!) Definitely feels way closer to an actual car brake pedal without that abrupt stop at the end of the spring compression 👍 Think I'd have liked them just a bit softer, maybe ~30-35 shore hardness at a guess, but that's entirely personal preference. (or maybe they soften a little bit with use? Looks like your pedal has a bit more travel than mine 🤷♂️) Still, a great mod I'm 100% glad came up in my notifications! 👍
@SimRacingCorner3 жыл бұрын
You could try running 4 rubber spacers and a single skateboard bushing. That will soften up the feel and add a bit more travel.

@@SimRacingCorner I've had exactly the same experience as the guy above ! Love the idea and reckon it would be ideal if the were 30-40 percent softer . Hi, there are literally hundreds of comments that say the same thing regarding the fact that the pieces currently available are stiffer, that the links do now work anymore, that after 2 months they break. Can someone, please, sum up if 1) some components with the same performance shown in the videos are still available to buy 2) If yes, where to buy them? 3) how to prevent them breaking. Thank you!

Hello and very good, I loved the video. One thing, since you have just watched the video and 2 years have passed, can you update me on what I have to buy, since I see that some things have changed, like the gray tires, etc. I don't know if I need to buy the washers if I already have some that came with the t lcm pedals. If you can give me the links of the updated things I have to buy, it would be great, greetings

The is undoubtedly the best diy mod for the t-lcms, far better than nox3d and apexv2r. Now we just need to find a way to get rid of that injected moulding plastic flex.

Be sure to have support under the middle rubber pad and put in the center screw (under the brake bearing). Your flex will be gone. You're welcome :)

the parts in that link must have changed. the rubber spacers are not as soft as yours and are gray not black. my break pedal is stiff as a plank. i'd say the right spacers are Medium Soft Rubber Spacers Standoff Washers Shore A 55 . the Hawkeng company must have change stuff up.

Hi ! Is rubber spacers soft/medium soft/medium/medium hard ? Thanks for this video !

Just ordered. I cheat a little with the hard stop. I set it so hard stop happens at full brake force, that instantly gives me a set braking area and with abs is just dumb for consistency in hard braking corners.

TLCM , Brakeforce Settings help. Hi, I have set Brakeforce at 0 on tlcm. But i still find it too hard to get desired braking. i would prefer for it to be easier than 0 to get 100% braking. Is there a way to reduce this below 0 or change any other setting, so i have to press the brake with lesser pressure/force to get up to 100% braking....? Thanks.

Is zero pedal travel the expectation? Tried it and the pressure ramp makes it hard to trail brake. It feels like it would be better with a 200kg sensor.
