As you have the transducers facing each other, you should try swapping the polarity of one of them so they don't cancel each other out. As they are, the coils push towards each other at the same time, having the polarity of one swapped you would have one coil pushing and the other pulling so enhancing the vibration from left to right as you're sitting. You can instead, mount one of the transducers on the inside so they both face the same direction and not each other.

So what's the deal today (2021/2022)? Nobsound NS-03G is like 35$, and dedicated 100w bass amplifier. two shaker subs I've been looking at are the Dayton Audio BST-1 and the AuraSound AST-2B-4. I'm only planning on probably 1 shaker, I don't want it super shakey (punchy, rather -- ie powerful), I'd prefer "frequency response" over power. I'm going to be putting this on my "office" type chair which is currently built for flight sim. I'm only doing flight sims (DCS, il2, and MSFS) no racing. What software do I need? any recommendations for alternative equipment? trying to stay on a somewhat budget (70$ for the AST-2B and 35$ for the amp, I have speaker wire) so budget is around 100$

I don't have a bassshaker yet, but from what I've heard it's important to disconnect the seat vibrations from the rest of the rig, by mounting the seat on some rubber vibration dampers. this would remove the stiffness and should increase the vibrations in the seat

You should have linked the Nobsound G2 amp: you canswitch between an amp or a filtered sub, so that it will either rumble all the time, or just only with low to high frequency sound. I have mounted my bass shaker (salvaged from a Aura Interactor) under my wheel.. and it now acts as the perfect addition to force feedback inputs.

Is a cheap amplifier like the Nobsound Amplifier enough for bass shakers? I assumed they can't deal with very low frequencies, like below 30 Hz? Or are those frequencies not necessary to amplify for a shaker? Also, isn't it necessary to cut the incoming frequency? I've been looking at the Reckhorn A-802, but it's way more expensive.

Well done, as you said, mount them straight on the rig, and not on a piece of mdf first really will make a big difference. I mounted mine straight on the side profiles on the P1 and one under the seat and get very strong tactile feedback. The more watts you feed them, the more they will eat it up. Well done on a featured review and explanation.

The MDF plate wasn't a bad thing in the end. Compared to hanging them with just 2-bolts into the profile; using the MDF plate, there are 6 contact points instead of 2. In comparison, it felt the same either way. I will say though, I didn't need to go to that trouble, but worth testing different things out I suppose.

I use three cheap early bird stereo amps, about £16 each with PSU and a generic 7.1 USB sound card, all are controlled by Simhub when using in SIM I have the effect separate left right, front middle and rear, and it really adds to the immersion. @Mr_Latte_UK

@@SimRacingCorner Errr Simhub is indeed free, (but give dev a donation) and save @ $90. Simhub has more potential and effects possibilities than Simvibe, with more control over channels and the ability to copy/paste layers as well. You should also consider trying the "Nobsound NS 20G" with its higher wattage capability and 19V PSU. Care should be taken however not to overdo the wattage beyond the recommended specs of the units being used. You need to take into account when installing tactile units how/where the energy can disperse. For instance in this video, how do you make the vibrations go up into the seat instead of down and through parts of the frame which you wont even feel? Therefore you want the direct energy to go into the designated target areas (seat/pedals) FIRST (determining its possible path) and the (seat/pedals) sections to also be isolated (decoupled) from the main rig frame. This will help maintain the vibrational energy where you want/need it.

That's a really cheap solution, but with a bit more money i would recommend to get Sinustech BS-250 and they are probably more reliable. And the Buttkicker LFE is just in another universe regarding tactile power. The video "Shaky Rig #2 with 4x LFE.." shows what's possible, but i would recommend stiffer Brooks-springs as a suspension, which i'm still using even with my GS-5.
@SimRacingCorner
@SimRacingCorner 4 жыл бұрын
I know the stiffness of my profile frame is counter-productive to maximizing the vibrations. As this is a temporary setup until my NLR V3 comes back from repair, I won't be trying to figure a solution. I'll be relocating these two Bodyshakers to the pedals deck.

There's a handy zip opening making a convenient pocket.
@Leynad778
@Leynad778 4 жыл бұрын
@@SimRacingCorner Most people will prefer motion, because they only know soft suspended roadcars and don't have a clue what it's like with a race-suspension. I had just one co-driver lap around Nordschleife and was more impressed by the SoP-vibrations than the g-forces, because that was a new experience. And tactile-feedback feels more accurate with less latency for me since motion apart from hieve is always kind of fake. G-forces can't be properly simulated and it's always a compromise, even with a GS-5. Like under braking your seat pushes you into the seat-belts (i guess you using them) while in a real car your back is more loosing contact with the seat. The GS-5 does the opposite on default for that reason and this feels even more fake, so i switched the function since i'm using seat-belts. The GS-5 can do hieve and i like getting bumped especially while running on straights, but the road-feel comes from my Buttkicker Concert. Might be also a software-thing and SimVibe needs some tweaking to get to it, since the real bump-effects are not on default. With your setup i would go this way: Buttkicker LFE close behind the seat on a wooden plate that can shake, since the V3 takes all the space under the seat. For the 'suspension' (hieve) you need some dampeners and stiff elastomers should do the trick.

Bought the same amp but even having it cranked all the way up barely does anything, I have two Dayton Audio pucks connected. Any suggestions?

The placement of the transducers and the material they are attached is crucial. That's something you need to experiment with. The problem with a question like what you asked, is I have no idea of your setup, so I can't give you a more explicit answer.

Sim Racing Corner I have them bolted to a piece of wood and using 14 gauge wire from amazon, I don’t have the wires soldered either. I’ve checked the wiring and everything is connected.......

@@canadian2fur532 Have you watched this other video I made: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naHMlYShdrt4hMU Would you say the Daytons appear to be performing like mine?

Sim Racing Corner I only have one connected for now and no it doesn’t come close to working that good. I have seen in some setting it was at 50% volume so I turned it to 100% but the volume knob on the amp mini still needs to be 100% in order to get any effect.

@@canadian2fur532 As it is a speaker, indeed you need to run the Windows sound volume at 100%, and then control the amp volume for the strength. Just to clarify what amp are you using, and how are you testing the transducers.

I haven't done more on under-seat frame-mounted shakers, But have put out a few other bass shaker videos since then. Links to those in the video description.

TRY WITHOUT any spacers! You want the most surface area contact possible to conduct the vibrations.

You can't, spacers are required otherwise the shaker can't move as it's flush with the base. I know, I tried that first.

Not needed when you are using simhub or other programs. It only sends certain frequencies. Vibration based telemetry.

It's okay I'm a 👴47-year-old👴 with a house so I don't disturb anyone. But certainly, it should be a consideration depending on your circumstances.

@@SimRacingCorner Haha fair do mate. I'm 43 seperated with kids. I'm lucky I live on a farm and have my rig set up in a converted barn so when I get set up I'll only be disturbing the sheep :)
