Love your channel my friend. I’m going to do this for the same reasons you did. Simplification, cleaner decluttered engine bay and flow efficiency. The winding noise is beautiful but I don’t need it! 😆 Keeping it clean and simple. Thank you again mate!

Came to your videos to see the install on the pipe, then noticed you had the AEM intake, which I am also thinking about getting. How do you like it? Any issues at all? And thanks for making the videos!
@tweedbean3 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching, glad it was useful. As for the AEM intake its expensive but does a great job and love how it turns the scoop into something functional. Only issues people see is fitting the heat shield above the turbo that comes with the aem, this traps a lot of heat and can lead to melting the front corner of the rocker cover, note this also can happen without the heatshield with the car in stock form, this just seems to speed up the process so many people dont fit the AEM heatshield and instead fit a proper turbo jacket.
@chrisowens66833 жыл бұрын
@@tweedbean Thanks for getting back so quick. Forge turbo blanket already fitted! I don't know why, it just seems like the AEM and the DDM Works "Ram Air" intakes would act as a funnel and dump water into the airbox on a rainy day. Awesome to hear you have no issues.
@tweedbean3 жыл бұрын
If you live in a particularly wet climate you can also purchase from AEM a waterproof cover for the filter which is also breathable, something like this maybe, www.aemintakes.com/1-4007-air-filter-wrap

So at 5:55 you pull the wretched noise maker unit. Would the car be drivable at that point? (until I had time to install the pipe) Or would it just be sucking up air driving like 💩 and throwing codes? I just did some nosing around in there and the hanging loop broke, so it was saggy plus the firewall piece was loose because of a broken PLASTIC clip. Thanks mate. This is a solid video as always!

Excuse my ignorance but why not simply block/plug the 'Noise pipe' and leave it in place?
@tweedbean4 жыл бұрын
You could but why leave pipes in there that you don’t require any more. All they are at that point is additional clutter in the engine bay and extra weight(yes I know it’s not significant)

@@tweedbean Can it be blocked at the cabin outlet end? I simply cannot be assed faffing around in the engine bay with my big ape hands..
@mlarsen773 жыл бұрын
Big ape hands.... funny. I dont have big hands, but these little cars don't leave much room for any hands to begin with. The more empty volume you remove from the intake, the more stable air pressure (or negative pressure) will be. I think more air space would be more area to cause delay with throttle response and air draw due to more surface area drawn in by vacuum. Just my guess. :)

To make sure it doesn't pop out, I use Electrical Tape and stretch it as I tape. Putting an extra round is a must !!! *NOTE:* Another way and I have done it many times. Most plastic bottles CAN be used as shrink tubes. Find one that fits right over it and then get a heat gun and carefully heat it. It will shrink like a shrink tube.

@@AhmedAli-vy6up The new hose connects to the throttle body at the rear of the engine bay and is specifically designed to fit the Mini Cooper 1.6 Turbo. The standard hose can be restrictive and more so with earlier models that contained a noise generator. Installed on the cold side, this free flowing hose improves turbo response throughout the rev range. The re-enforced silicone structure will withstand greater temperatures and pressures than the original hose and is ideal for tuned engines.
