Finally got around to sort my 2002 Mini Cooper s R53 air bag light , easy fix in the end and so far so good.

Back in the day when they where new. It was a daily occurrence too see them in the workshop for this fault. There was a repair loom that you had to wire in/re pin from the airbag ecu to the seat.

Will come back for sure. I presonaly never have a luck with contact cleaners on this connectors. Solder this wires together and that will be a permanent fix.

@@CarsExposed Solder doesn't work it looks for a resistance. I also noticed the blue plug on mine is physically shorted together. Not sure I understand the circuit. Maybe fires or seatbelt acknowledge through the mounting bolt or otherwise back feeds through the black plug (mine has a black plug lol, it has the pyrotechnic tensioner)

@@jeremygood6265 getting rid of the plugs and soldering the wires works everytime, the only con is not being able to remove the seat as it will be essentially hardwired in place. Airbags system plugs generally have a shorting bar that activates when you unplug connectors.👍

@@CarsExposed oh wow very interesting. I didn’t know about the shorting bar thing! Apparently this error is all wrong it’s a crash impact sensor. Do you happen to know where that’s located. Under passenger seat under carpet maybe or under “B Pillar” per Bentley

Can you give your opinion on the new head unit? Which specific model is it? I'm about to buy the same car (just 1 year newer) and I'm going to replace the head unit. They all look very similar on the spec sheet and I don't really know which way to go.

I’m loving it so far I highly recommend it , I was using an aux cable to listen to podcasts and bbc sounds when I’m travelling and to be honest is a pain , now I can play anything from my phone wirelessly and answer calls hands free the sound quality is excellent … This unit MVH-S420BT that I bought was the cheapest £99 but you also have the option to buy the same unit with CD player and DAB 👍

I have a complicated question when the engine isn't on but the ignition is on my dash works and sound but when I start it the led switch doesn't work or the sound but from the outside my indicators work anyone know what's going on? I did replace the radio and this happened Ive checked all the fuses looks fine

I’ll try the think car tomorrow to see if it shows any live data but I think is more to do to the car module rather than scan tool 👍
