Quick comparison on two of the best mini Ductors on the market in my opinion.
The Mini Ductor Venom
Made in USA
and the
Mini Ductor Woyo
Made in China
both pretty great and must have tools living here in the Rustbelt.
One is cheaper that the other so I want to compare the two to see if buying the cheaper one is a better option?
Will it hold up over time?
Does in perform?
How does it stand up to the higher priced tools?
Did a quick Hands on, Pros and Cons comparison also timed how long each one took to heat up a fastener to 900°F.

Owned the venom a few months now and user it about 9-10 times. Came in handy removing a leaky fuel tank mounting strap bolt on my daughters 04 Hyundai Santa Fe. Beat getting a torch out and setting things on fire... 💥🔥🔥

Thankyou for the comparison, Im just home DIY but Ive always had oxy torch for gas welding plus heating of stuck parts, we pretty much all know just how many grazed knuckles a bit of heat saves and ironically now Im into EVs the risk of kaboom is way less anyways without gas tanks around. From where I can see on EVs the high mix of aluminium structure, steel bolts and road salt means were gonna be in for a lot of seized fasteners and Induction heaters are gonna be a thing. Ive a cheapo Ali Express 1000w unit on the way as ill not be using the kit commercially then again a bit of luck ill not end up with prize fighters knuckles after being able to induction loosen fasteners when swapping out the Teslas suspension links!

Thanks for the video. One thing you don't mention is the wattage of both units. That's the true test of the power of the unit. The coils are insulated with fiberglass sheathing. The bolts will rise in temperature very quickly, as long as the coil is the proper size, and your thermal imager is reading the temp of the coil while you are using the bolt heater, since it's surrounding the bolt head. The coil will take longer to heat up, and you'll likely find that you can heat it for a shorter time, and check the bolt with the coil removed, and see it's hotter than the coil. Your coils will last longer this way. You can probably buy the insulative sheathing and the copper wire, and make your own, cheaper. Are you still happy with these tools? I don't own one, but plan on building my own. I do play with these types of supplies for other reasons, like driving flyback transformers for high voltage electronics projects.

The supply used is called a zvs driver or zvs induction power supply, for those who wanna build one. They're relatively inexpensive to buy on eBay, and I think you can build your own bolt heater for under $100, if you are crafty😁

The VENOM would fit in TIGHT spaces the other one is too wide with the knobs on the sides. Plus it seems like the VENOM is more consistent with the temperature.

After I warrantied a mini ductor that wasn’t working for another, I hoped it would be a great tool. But, the second one did the same thing, thermal and turned off, never got the bolt/nut as hot as I wanted. Maybe i’ll try another one, or another brand.

Great video! have you used one of the long freehand coils that are made to wrap around large parts like the spindle and wheel hub connect area? How long would you guesstimate before the coils burn out? A few used or x100 uses etc?

I would say the venum is controlling its temp by measuring resistance through the element. My thought on why it took longer to heat, BUT that should prolong the life of the elements.

Attach 2 welding stick holders to your rod welder, you allready have one.The ESAB type is the best, cause you tighten a screw around the rod in that type.Buy a U formed ductor coil, and shape it to fit your project,or buy preshaped.Put one coil end into one rod holder and do the same with other end of the coil and other stick holder.Tape the two holders together, turn welder to a minimum, and start your welder and simply see what happens.Hold your finger on the stop button and remember that I dont know anything about your welder or local grid, but in principle, you are doing the same thing as you do when you try to start stickwelding, and the rod fastens to your workpiece, the stick begins to glow,if you dont remove it.Good luck and stay safe!

Good video. I think we have to ask ourselves how much of our money we want to give to communist China. I like the US made unit. Imagine the US company having to compete against the slave labor model. Also, I noticed that the US company has a higher output version and I'm guessing you can call them and they stand by their product. Also, does a few seconds matter? I care more about how long it will last. You also want the heat to go down the bolt to the threads. That takes time regardless.
