I always cut that little extra off too. To me it looks much neater and more professional when it’s been cut off. I like the button wrap. Haven’t seen anything quite like that before.

thank you. I was staring at that closure and had wrapped the twine around a couple of times and then tucked the end under the rest of the twine. I didn't like it. Then the button idea hit me.

No, it's not necessary because the baker's twine is thick and prevents the button from sliding around.

it helps me, too! It's so hard to find my pieces and parts on a colored mat. I started doing it because the lighting is poor in the basement, and the white background helps my camera to focus, and it brightens up the video
