I get your idea but to save time i think back blading is the ticket. If anything build attachment blades 700mm or so, one each side of your blade that way cover more area

Cut a rectangle the size of the bucket blade in that beam. Run the chain over the bucket back onto the beam and you have a mop. Easy to level or drag dirt and debris. Gives you more coverage. Called a mop pipe.

Well damn, why not just grade with the blade instead of that beam? Simply unbolt it from the ex, weld a....no better yet, burn a couple holes for chains...and rig it to stick. While we're at it, instead of using the bucket to dig, we should use it only to carry a spade and pick and hungover laborer to dig site.

weld a chain hook to the back of the bucket up past the crest of the curve or put a damn thumb on the bucket and drag a mat to smooth or maybe learn to operate the bucket you have to do the same thing

Maybe this guy needs another 50 years to educate himself from what's a good idea in a bad idea. Like saying this is the worst idea in 50 years that is a bad idea LOL have a great day.. where I come from we would take an I-beam put it behind any vehicle on the property and drag it behind to level out the roads and when we were done they were like glass. Great idea I would have to say.

Honestly faster to rake out by hand. It takes more time dinking around with the chain than just using the excavator blade itself. Sorry not a useful hack.

I was running the machine with one hand in the close up shots. I have a camera mount now. It is faster than a rake, especially if you built it longer. That's just what I had laying around. You could make a bigger one.
