looking great .. some people have used a atv carb or a motorcycle carb to get the throttle response of the engine ,, lawnmower carbs do not respond the same ,, keep up the great work on the Jeep

Even a mikuni wouldnt help much, theres 2 heavy flywheels and heavy clutch basket. Not much to take the weight off either, On top of that its a flathead... But dumping clutch wouldnt drop the rpm and it would be near impossible to stall

I really wanted a v twin but they are hard to come by here in norway.. but i am in to it no to realy lighten the 2 flywheels and see if i can make it just a little more responsive uphill. But i can allways leave this engine package alone and swap inn a harley engine or somthing 🤠

It sounds great, maybe a bit more restriction would silence it better. Adding some noise cancelling padding in the engine bay would help a lot. Perhaps a braided exhaust flex pipe would be a better option? The longer the better. It wont get too hot unless you load it a lot while standing still. Ive ran air cooled engines as such in similar conditions in +30°C running flat out for half an hour straight, probably overloaded 90% of the time. Just use motorcycle oil in there, something like 10W40, probably thinner stuff would help if it does overheat with thicker oil... The flywheel, 2 of them might be a bit heavy for it, but in the other hand it would be very easy to take off

when I was a kid many moons ago .. a neighbor had a Honda riding mower ,, you could not hear it run ,, only way you could tell it was running is watching the flywheel spin .. I would cut a Honda muffler apart see how they make them ,,there run quiet generators muffler also .
@mihkus2 жыл бұрын
@@randytravis3998 I bet they're big, multi layer, internally padded with glass fiber and strong structure. The whole point is to slow down the explosive flow, more cylinders often means smoother flow, just having just one is the worst. Nearly impossible to get it as quiet as a 3 or 4 cylinder car I would just cut the pipe just before it goes into your first muffler and weld a washer in there, to restrict the flow, the hole should maybe 10th the size of the pipe, like 15-20mm and same thing before the last muffler, that would help a lot

Yes i am going to lighten the 2 flywheels and se 😎 the sound volume was okei 👍🏻 but misses the sweet sound of a v twin engine..

You may want to consider changing the location of your exhaust pipe if you plan on going off road :)

i think you would benifit from a cheap electic fuel pump because when you were reving it it sounded starved and i dont think it was the carb. but hey well done. if the engine does start getting too hot you could always add a oil cooler radiator to it. its a proper little beast isnt it??? does it have a choke??
@vassdalencustom8689 Жыл бұрын
Yes its work good 😮💨 yes it has a choke 👌🏻
@johncorreia90412 жыл бұрын
it goes faster with the governor off? also put a motorcycle carb. on it, and no more problems
@vassdalencustom8689 Жыл бұрын
Yes I have added an old atv carb on it now, works much better in the terrain :D

Excellent as usual👏 Very clean build and it’s coming along nicely. Question though, what make, cc and specs is that engine? Really I’m interested in the whole drivetrain but for now it’s the engine specs I’m most interested in knowing about. Anyway thank you and keep up the great work!

The engine is a kohler k series from 1965 Its 588cc 16hp. Realy wanted a v twin but started with this and the project escalated quickly 😅 Thank you 🤠

Why waste your time on that old p.o.s. motor?
@vassdalencustom86892 жыл бұрын
It started with just the engine and gear box. So the project escalated 😅 Wanted a verty simple engine package for once And i got this one for free. If i had known i would put all this work in to this jeep i would used a more expensive engine 🤠 but its fun to play around with and experince a bit before a potensial swap 😎👍🏻
