@@Zicrixdoesart I guess it does through DSC? I have yet to see another monitor with those specs though. I have also not personally used it so I can't confirm you can do all so of the features on at once. 240hz 10bit HDR VRR etc. I did see a review mention it's at 120hz out of the box. In the past it wasn't uncommon for 4K TV's to say 120hz but only be able to do that at 1080p, monitors have done the same. A Gigabyte 27in 1440p 144hz comes to mind where you needed to drop to 120hz if you wanted to use the 10bit HDR. Edit: it can accept 4K 240hz 10bit but the 240hz mode is weird and has artifacts similar to previous panels in the line. I guess DSC goes higher than I thought.

It's not not expensive. You're replacing a few LEDs on the edge of a display with a whole bunch of mini LEDs and the circuitry to control however many zones independently while analyzing the input to know how bright to make each zone. I don't really understand the hype around brighter and brighter indoor displays. I have sensitive eyes and i really don't want my monitor to go so bright. With phones i can understand it since there's scenarios where i want the display to be bright because the surroundings are bright. I don't really own any HDR displays and definitely not any that go so bright but it just seems odd to me. The display i currently use has a peak brightness of 370 nits and i have it permanently set to 30% because i don't want it to scorch my eyes, i'd love for someone to fill me in.

@pshurygin

The point is not to have the entire screen at 1000+ nits, but a small portion of it. Eg a burning candle in the dark scene could be very bright, while only accounting for ~1% of the screen area. This won't burn your eyes, but would actually mimic the real candle very closely. As for the full screen 1000+ nits brightness, that's really pointless most of the time, unless your monitor is standing in the yard right under the straight sun light. It can also be somewhat useful when displaying a flash of bright light for a short amount of time, eg to show the effect of flash grenade in an FPS.

Marketing. They want to sell you expensive LCDs any way they can while they can before OLEDs become mainstream and these become an entry level outdated product. LCDs have only two things going for it vs OLED, brightness and less chance of burn in, and that's what they peddle to you.

I use 4k 27" for coding. I actually use 4k 24" as wing monitors (Dell made a P2415Q for a little bit, and I refuse to let these suckers die until I have replacements). The amount of code and documentation and build lights I can fit on screen at one time is great. And I also don't have to put up with how chintzy fonts look at 12px on 1080-1440 24-27" monitors, I can comfortably set everything to 16-18px heights and pack in everything on 3 screens. I wish all the bezels were the same, but this may be my next 3x4k setup.

To be honest even a MacBook Pro 14 display with like 10,000 zones on a 14 inch screen still has very visible blooming. You can easily see those zones switching on and off at the edge of the dark area, and it is very distracting. This is nowhere near as good as any OLED panel, which would actually give you perfect HDR experience. So I would actually just wait for the newly announced LG 27 inch 1440p 240hz OLED monitor, which is to be released soon for the 1000$, if HDR is what you are after. Or go for the Alienware 34inch ultrawide.

Yeah but that’s the worst case of say a white box moving inside a pitch black background. For 99% gaming the bloom won’t be a big issue and you can always disable dimming for work and such. Plus this give you better brightness than most OLEDs and never worry about burning.

Hey guys, I as much as the next person, I enjoy watching these reviews of cutting-edge products. Still, I would feel way more interested and informed in watching videos that are in a average consumer price range that isn't always motivating people to repeatedly spend to strive for the next greatest thing and to resent spending exorbitant amounts of money on today's tech. As all know the next video review will be 3 notches higher than this. Either make an acknowledgement of the price and who it is for (and what you could save buying something more affordable), OR don't mention the price at all. You'd get more viewer inclusivity if: A 300-500 dollar price range monitor set of reviews would be far more interesting and get greater engagement from most, and I assume link click-throughs. As far as I can recall since following this channel, all the products are aimed at folk who are in a salary bracket that is unattainable to most, especially in this difficult economic climate, short of financially ruining people, you may as well review space station cooking components with a price tag next to it and affiliate links or deep sea diving camera gear; neither fit the wider audience as much as these over-spec exorbitantly expensive gaming screens. I love the format, hosts, and production value... hate the products.

Something you guys don't get about these smaller 4k displays is that the pixel density isn't for when you have the monitor in 4k doing work, but for when you are running at 1080p in a game to maintain 100+fps. A 1080p image on a 32inch display looks awful.

I don't understand why Nicholas thinks the "color adjust" limitation is a bad thing; those modes are locked to a preset for a reason. If you're using this monitor, or any monitor, for photography or videography, you'll calibrate the display for use in predetermined "modes" (user one or two) to be as accurate as they can be for your determined application; this is kind of like tuning your car with a control module like Cobb AccessPort; it makes perfect sense for the professional that wants to use this monitor for personal AND wok use.
