They have a firmer grasp of what the average consumer is willing to spend and expect, this isn't that at all. TVs are quickly making gaming monitors obsolete in both performance and price, not to mention real estate with the sizes you can get. For the same price or a little more, I can get a TV for 55in that has more features and better specs aside from input latency and a lower refresh rate. @TheJjjoj2 жыл бұрын
Motion blur is an issue that comes from pairing an underpowered backplane with a particular display type. It's not a panel or panel type issue. These companies keep trying to use cheaper backplanes with VA panels, which require at least LTPO backplanes in order to be effectively driven. "VA has more motion blur than IPS" is both inaccurate and frustrating because it's such misinformation. However, VA panel based monitors typically do suffer more motion blur, because, again, trying to cheap out on the backplane.
@KissesLoveKawaii2 жыл бұрын
@@TheJjjoj this is all false and misinformation btw. VA does have more blur than ips, THAT'S why majority of high-high end monitor is a IPS. IPS renders motion better and it's a fact.

The Samsung Odyssey line is a proper VA monitor without that crap, isn't it?
@TheJjjoj2 жыл бұрын
@@KissesLoveKawaiiYou are incorrect. That's not how these technologies work. Motion is a matter of pixel transition. The backplane of a display drives the pixels by sending specfic current to switch the subpixels into an on or off stste. Any pixel transition requires an adjustment to the amount of current. On the whole, TN panels are the easiest to drive, then IPS, then VA, then OLED. TN panels can be paired with the cheapest A-si backplane and still have solid motion performance. IGZO backplanes were developed specifically for IPS because of the cost and power inefficiency of LTPS backplanes. They meet the required current capabilities of high refresh rate IPS displays. LTPO was developed as a lower power draw alternative to LTPS for OLED displays but they are also ideal for VA panels. A good example of a VA panel that uses a higher end backplane is samsung's oddyssey neo g7. It has some of fastest response times and least motion blur on the market yet uses a VA panel.
@KissesLoveKawaii2 жыл бұрын
@@TheJjjoj neo g7 can't even touch the top tier IPS and yet i suppose to be top of the tops of VA. Says something about VA... doesn't it. The HDR 400 standard calls for true 8-bit color channels, which is what we expect from SDR monitors. If you want 10-bit color channels (actual HDR), then you need to move up to HDR 600. That said, some HDR 600 (and higher) monitors that have 60+ Hz refresh rates, will fall back to 8-bit color channels when set to more than 60 Hz. When the monitor falls back 8-bit color channels, it stops being HDR 600 (or higher) compliant. Edit: The HDR 400 spec calls for 8-bit color channels. That means that a monitor must have at LEAST 8 bits per color channel. HDR 600 and above calls for 10-bit color channels. One of the great things about HDR content is the reduction of color banding due to the larger color range that's only possible because it's using more bits per color. HDR 400 monitors do NOT guarantee 10-bit color channels. If you find an HDR 400 monitor that does proper 10-bit, then consider that to be a nice bonus because that monitor wasn't required to do so when the only thing you are told is that it's HDR 400 compliant.

I'm still waiting for some non outrageously expensive 27" 4k oled screen. The few panels we're finally seeing are either 1440p are outrageously expensive due to nice but non essential features (like 32", 120hz).

0:55 How? That's pretty much where Quantum Dot started: in VA monitors and TVs. 12:18 You should use the ghosting test instead here to easier see, well, ghosting.

Guys, this monitor is not cheap, and has pretty bad VA smear. gigabyte m324 is almost the same as this one, and is 400 bucks. just get that please.

You're paying a premium for this monitor simply because it's a QLED and has RGB. Overpriced.

LTT ripping on NVIDIA for pricing then says a $650 gaming monitor is “kind of a good deal”. Get a grip.
@KissesLoveKawaii2 жыл бұрын
it's cheap for a reason, VA is just not for gaming.

You can just get the G7 for less money on sale ... I don't get this review at all. How is this a good monitor? Nothing is good about it, not even the price...

Even CHG70 has quantum dots with the VA panel, also 144hz and curved. It also has HDR600, 200$ cheaper when it was at MSRP. Old panel but does everything except the ultrawide. The only downsides of that panel are ghosting and flickering. I have a G9 Neo and the CHG70 both are" VA panels but no ghosting on G9.

Every display has this RGB nonsense when all I'd want is a led strip along the bottom of the screen with a touch control so I could get a little bit of desk lighting when needed.

get back to me when a large 4k high refresh rate screen is affordable, im not downgrading from a 4k screen to 1440p !

All I got from this review/showcase is that LTT should leave monitor content to Hardware Unboxed

The whole point of the RGB diffused layer being receded in is to give the illusion of the stand floating on a cloud of light. Get on point with your reviews please.

So I accidentally hit the clip button, and I had that first loop of about the first seven seconds playing over and over again.. and I thought it was a running joke at first.. like some sort of product joke but I guess not.. oh well.. one of these days people are going to have display standards.. you know like for themselves in in what their standards are for what is being displayed.. I have to believe this.. every time my faith is shaking like with digital projectors first in the theater, OR dual digital projectors in theater LOL.. or learning that Counter-Strike players regularly stretch 4x3 to 16x9 at a low resolution... Or learning that people regularly play with rainbow six siege gamma blasted or adjust th3 mip to remove the textures from battlefield.. or think of sub 40 inch display is big in 2022 LOL or that chromatic aberration should ever be in anything ever.. or that the temporal rate for TAA should adjust as you're moving about the the game cuz obviously when you're moving around it should be blurrier because you won't notice it as much, which amounts to getting gas lid as soon as you stop moving and look around LOL.. especially with dlss but apparently that's an Nvidia standard so there is that.. really good for screenshots right? Really good for static video.. see it is in motion cuz you're not moving but we're moving the camera and everything's clear.. and nobody cares.. So the theater projectors got better.. maybe.. maybe people will too..?

Such a lukewarm response for a product that costs $650... If you can afford a $650 monitor you can wait a extra month or two and buy a $800-900 monitor that isn't nearly as disappointing for the money.

You left us hanging on what the Micro USB connector was for! (1:49) Does anyone know what its use was? Is it to connect the USB hub?

it's for the rgb. it connects from the base of the monitor to the pc

Pleaseeeee update the firmware and do a followup vid. The update fixes the HDR and turns on the Quantum Dots. They weren't enabled properly for the out of the box setup. Pleaseeeee update and do a follow up vid even as a shorts. I have one of these in my carts and I wanna buy it

What firmware update are you talking about? I can't see any on the website. Can you send me a link?

6:00 I guess the purpose of base LED is when it is dark, you can put something like a device that needs lighting in that place. for example an airpods, pen, headphones etc. luminous enough that you can see it when you need it even if it is dark.

With these resolutions people should just go for a 4k display and have black bars above and below. It makes very little sense to have the missing 4K hight resolution.
