If I could make one suggestion outside of volume (which was at a good level in this vid!) it would be to make your cursor larger. Sometimes it can be hard to see among the chaos of the cars moving around and it makes the video a bit confusing because it’s hard to tell what you’re presently working on/adjusting/referencing as you talk. Loving the content, keep it up !!

The last bridge that you didn't know where to use, could have been used at the southwest corner to bring the green neighborhood under and around the green mall, so there is no cross traffic with the reds. Other than that, super clean city!

There is a road on the lower left that was used by three colors: red, yellow, and green. Trying to directly connect that one red house on the center left caused an inadvertent mixing of yellow and green, causing yellow houses in the top right to send cars down Motorway 3, up Motorway 6, through the mall, and through the roundabout to reach the circle in the center once it became more needy. Which was, in turn the cause for congestion that made the yellow houses in the center take longer to send cars to the center circle, ironically making the problem the top right was trying to solve far worse. All for the want of a single house and all that.
@dalekcat3 жыл бұрын
there were also 2 yellow houses connected to the road of dark blues that led nowhere for them, that was before yellow became a problem so possibly another weak point there

+5000 is a great score. I think the issue with yellow was the motorway[3] to yellow and green which resulted in some long yellow trips from other linked parts of the map. You can see yellow traffic bottom-left (34:18) and was the cause. Still a great score.

I think one tricky issue of traffic jammed was the furtherest house that connected on the same road, even it's less intersection or same color though. Sometimes they just drove to the furtherer destination instead of the closer one, which mean they were wasting more time and distance to back-and-fourth on that day. So, I guess we can try to separate some, split at least 4-5 houses per exact one mall for making the flow more smooth (depending on luck as well)

Something interesting happened at @32:24 which signalled the end of your game to me. If you look at the Red+Yellow stop off point to the left, you will see a yellow car that drives through the parking lot and then continues out onto the green+red road then along motorway 3 to the upper Yellow+Green stop off. This yellow car indicates, very strongly, that should a car become connected to a remote location it can service, it will service that thing, regardless of distance. This is huge for the metagame, as the isolation levels must be maintained to ensure efficiency. As your red and green connected paths, had a path to the Green+Yellow stop off at the top, when you linked the Red+Yellow stop off, suddenly yellow had a really inefficient path to the top, and started using it, which congested Red and Greens already mixed and congested routes further. This resulted in Red and Green sliding towards failure.

It is something that actually turned me away at first from your channel. Only with this second video coming up on my feed did I finally take the plunge (and I'm glad I did). Fix that and you're golden. You have a really good voice to listen to + general good ability to fill the time with what you say which is good to have for youtube. Couple it with a decent mic upgrade and you're going to be golden. Also, for the love of god, put your phone on silent hahahaha, felt like I was going crazy checking my phone to have nothing there xD

Awesome video dude! Just a tip, standard internet media standard is for audio is -6db. Have a look at your recording software and do some test audio test. Watch where the top of the bar sits when you speak at your regular volume. Adjust that so its hitting roughly -6dbs. If you are generally a more quiet speaker, try a little louder than that - maybe -5 or -4db. I hope that could help :)

First time to your channel. I came here because of Mini Motorways. I watch Real Civil Engineer and Biffa and one or two others. To answer your question about volume, from a new watcher, I have my laptop set at 100% volume and have youtube set at 100% volume, and am comfortable listening to you. any quieter and I would have to put on my headphones. My ONLY suggestion would be that 18-20 minutes into the video, I've completely lost track of your cursor and "this guy over here" I have no clue where you're talking about. A larger cursor or one of the 'wave ripple' effects around your clicks or something like that might be useful. (typed this before seeing the many other suggestions saying the same).
