Aww! Harry was so well-trained that he couldn't bear the thought of not being tortured by his captain for the rest of his life!

Harry Kim is *almost* the Trek equivalent of Terry Pratchett's Rincewind. Almost, but not quite. Rincewind is like a magnet for trouble but always manages to get away by the skin of his teeth, often as his sandals clatter to the ground. Harry is ALSO a magnet for trouble, but always manages to come out worse somehow, even if he survives. The universe seems to enjoy his torment almost as much as Janeway does. "Of course it does, who do you think the universe revolves around?" Ah, I should have known.

Chuck's Janeway monologue gag from Nemesis where she reveals her "evil plan" to Picard during her cameo is one of my favourite "non-canon" fan explanations of anything ever. Even if it was in jest, it actually makes sense, is genuinely fun and even consistent with what is seen onscreen. I actually wish it was official, even if only in a parallel universe way. :)

Poor Harry. Always got the burning end of the stick. You should review "The Disease", really shows what Harry was to the crew: the smol boi who needs guidance and special protection from the captain.

Episodes like Timeless and The Thaw show what Voyager was capable of, which is a shame because it's so rarely what we got. The majority of Voyager isn't so much "unwatchable" as it is "mindless entertainment", which isn't what you look for in a Star Trek show. TNG's season 1 was understandably bad but it got better quickly. Voyager's season 1 was just a taste of things to come, for better or (more often) worse.

So Voyager had a super warp drive that future Harry taught them how to shut off safely that got them 10 years closer to home in a matter of minutes. And this is Voyager so I'm not surprised they never tried making short jumps or talked about it ever again.

Given how much Tom Paris does, it’s no wonder why your TV Tropes page on your character interpretations lists Tom as the third most competent person in Starfleet behind Kirk and Sisko.

The City on the Edge of Forever - time travel & alterations to history change the present DS9 Past Tense - time travel & alterations to history change the present First Contact - time travel & alterations to history change the present VOY Timeless - altering the past will likely erase the current present, if the present isn't erased then it didn't work movie reboot- time travel & altering the past only creates a parallel universe because 2 writers who only watched one TNG episode that had no time travel say so

This is a great episode, despite some narrative loopholes that were ignored (small hops instead of one large jump - easily fixed with a line) what interests me is how this compares to Endgame, where Janeway, realizing that despite some of the good that has happened in the elapsed years, voyages back through time to undo the initial mistake by collecting all six infinity stones and... oh no, wait, my notes have gotten jumbled. Hang on. =P But seriously, the character arcs/motivations of Harry in this episode and Admiral Janeway in the final are near identical, as are the stories themselves, really, that it'd be interesting to compare them and see how Timeless succeeded while Endgame floundered. You know, besides the latter being a direct rip-off of the former.
