Mini Shell Friendly! Mossberg 590S Shockwave 18 inch Barrel 12ga

This newer version of the 12 gauge Mossberg Shockwave is Mini-Shell friendly out of the box! No adapter needed, just break out that box of Aguila Mini-Shells, load them up, and you are ready to go! With the longer barrel on this example (18in versus 14 inch) you can fit 9 of them, or you can also do a combination with 3 inch, 2 3/4 inch and the 1 3/4 mini ones.

It is possible to sight along the barrel and use the bead sight when using the mini shells. I'm just south of seventy years old and have no problem. These things are fun and very useful for home defense.

Correct me if I’m wrong on this, but one advantage of the 18.5 inch barrel Shockwave is that it should legally be a regular shotgun. So you could add a shoulder stock without making it into a short-barreled shotgun. And any local laws prohibiting 14 inch Shockwaves wouldn’t apply, the 18’s should be legal anywhere a shotgun is.

Shot one of the originals and it is a beast. One definitely needs to hold it firm when shooting. I do see the use for home defense but not much else. The wielder just needs to know what they are doing. Thanks again for the apolitical videos

I wrapped rubber tennis racket tape on my handle. You can make it thicker to softer on your hand. Also put a heat shield on it. Had to shorten the heat shield and notch the barrel a little for the screws to keep from sliding. The heat shield makes a huge difference. That barrel gets hot

I have one of the early shockwaves you mentioned that doesn’t have a sling swivel on the grip. I added a green laser on the top as you mentioned and have it sighted quite nicely with federal shorty #4buck, using the opsol adapter of course. I prefer the federal shorty over the aguilla mini shells.

I have a maverick 88 currently as my home defense shotgun but I’d much rather this for ease and more mobility.. I just hate the idea of no stock but that laser idea to shoot from the hip is a great idea thank you.

The 18.5 inch barrel version is considered a shotgun, not a firearm which makes it legal in states like NY. The 14 inch barrel version is not considered a shotgun and thus is banned in states like NY

mine has small holes at each end for mounting a sling but they are too small for my sling. what can I get to put through the holes to be able to mount a sling? I'm using key chain rings right now but that looks silly. Thanks!
