I like the surefire myself. A shotgun is a short range weapon so 200/600 lumens does the job well. It has an on off power button so you can put it in "off" mode and it greatly saves battery wear. There isn't a strap on the surefire but its got a bigger fore-end and its a rubberized grip so your hands don't slip. The extra bulk up front actually helps with recoil. I personally like the surefire better but you really can't go wrong with either on its a matter of preference and budget. You really gave a nice review of the streamlight!

Good video, the streamlight racker is a great choice for a weapon light, very impressed with mine . One other con , it needs a kill switch, so theres no chance of activating the light when slung or in a carry case or scabbard.

Walked in a local pawn shop a few weeks ago, and they had 3 of these on the shelf... I bit at 120 out the door. Got it home, and tinkered with it. Got it in, was actually kind of impressed with it. Its bright, it feels good in the hand, and its not as heavy as the old Surefire I ran a few years ago. Then I discovered the biggest flaw... I lost my sling attachment point. Well, i guess technically i can still use it, but the sling will completely block the light anytime its hamging beneath the gun. Thats a bummer. Honestly, the sling means more to me than the light... Wish they had thrown the light off to one side or the other.

You bring up a good discussion point. As an example, the fore-guard on the short Ruger PC Charger 9 is a little over 1.25 inches and the cut-in space on the Steamlight Tracker is about 1 inch, but also provides a larger surface area. Both would seem to provide a good blocking in their designs, keeping the hand from accidentally moving forward. The Ruger doesn't seem to need a safety strap. But obviously since you're racking the fore-end forward on the Streamlight, the risk is increased so a strap has been added. Personally, I'll keep the strap. Do you know the length of your racker forend ? I just bought one, for my 14 inch Mossberg shockwave, and it doesn't seem to fit. I don't have that tool to install, so I took it apart and tried. Seems to be to long, but it said it was for the 590 shockwave in the description. Has the strap.
@mickmacstabletopreviews84668 ай бұрын
Yep, it's 8 inches overall. It replaces the original fore end. It should fit just fine on the magazine tube under the 14 inch barrel on your 12 gauge 590 Shockwave. Thanks for the question thanks for watching. If you haven't already, I hope you'll check out my other "Mick Mac" Tabletop Review videos on KZbin and Rumble. By the way, if your Shockwave 590 is the 20 gauge model, you'll need to make modifications to fit. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaatqaV8i6xol9E

@mickmacstabletopreviews8466 Жыл бұрын
Due to the attachment at the end of the action arms, some rotation on the loading tube can be expected. On mine it's about 1/2 inch when fully extended forward. If it seems like it want's to pull down and away or slide off forward or back or rotates more than about 1/2 on the tube, something's wrong. I assume you have the 12 gauge Shockwave. The Streamlight TL Racker won't work on the 20 gauge without some modification. It will be too loose unless you add a correcting tube (see my suggested fix for 20 gauge installation at kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKGTeIGfgLN-g6M). Thanks for the video! I watched it a few times before I bought the forend. I just installed mine but I have an issue with the forend nut not screwing all the way down. It is stopped by one of the plastic pieces on the racker. I couldn't tell if you were able to screw it on all the way. Have you had any issues after firing the firearm?
@mickmacstabletopreviews84662 жыл бұрын
You may notice that my Shockwave in this review is the 20 gauge version so my problem was different from what you describe. However, I did a follow-up video on how to modify the Streamlight to fit the 20 gauge properly. (See kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaatqaV8i6xol9E) As of today, that fix has worked perfectly without any problems. As for the forend nut not screwing down in your situation, it would seem that the attachment should be firm on the forend itself, but I don't think over-tightening would be a good idea. Of course the forend unit's attachment via its rails allows for quite a bit of play around the shell tube which would be normal. Hope this helps. Thanks for the feedback. Always appreciated. If you have the Mossberg Shockwave 12 gauge I believe you have two choices when it come to Tacstar --- the 4 Shell Carrier or the 6 shell Sidesaddle model. It drives me nuts they don't make the TL-racker with strap for the Remington 870. When I fire with this forend the shotgun tends to jump so it would be nice to have a strap. I'm trying to figure out a way to make my own strap on it without puncturing any important internals for the lighting. As for now, when I fire it I wrap the sling around my hand so it doesn't bounce upwards when fired.

Nice video 👍🏻 What scabbard do you use for your shockwave and how do you like it?
@mickmacstabletopreviews84663 жыл бұрын
If you go to the Mossberg website and search for "parts and accessories" for the Shockwave you'll find the NC Star Tactical Shotgun Scabbard @ $22 and you'll also find the Shockwave/Cruiser Case @ $25. I have the "scabbard", which with the Streamlight and the shell side-saddle is a tight fit. The "case" looks like it might be a better fit overall. For only $25 I might get one. However, the scabbard I received from Mossberg is well made and for $22, I thought it was a great buy. If you don't have the shell side-saddle on yours, the scabbard should be fine. Just got my Shockwave SPX. I love the look with the barrel heat shield and receiver mounted 5 shell carrier. Thinking about putting one of these on it.
@mickmacstabletopreviews8466 Жыл бұрын
I do like the SPX's heat shield. Very cool! I also like a shell carrier on my Shockwave. Everything is right there on the gun when I grab it. Thanks for for watching and if you haven't already, I hope you'll check out my other "Mick Mac" Tabletop Review videos on KZbin.

Add a crimson trace LS250 and you’ll have an amazing home defense weapon.

I agree. And with the difference of only $50, I'd suggest the Green lasersaddle system over the Red. Optics Planet, for example, has them for $209 today and will ship for free. can you put the old mossberg strap on that one? I really want that flashlight racker but I have to have that mossberg strap lol

Well, there is just about enough material in the Mossberg strap to work with if you really, really want to do that. ;-) Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. Excellent video....well done, sir! With that said, what a ridiculous price for a forend on a gun that costs ~ $400!
@mickmacstabletopreviews84662 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I understand what you're saying and if you add in the CT saddle laser, etc., it's even more weird. Thanks for watching. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe. If you haven't already, I hope you'll check out my other "Mick Mac" Tabletop Review videos on KZbin.
@arturoharvey97332 жыл бұрын
You don’t buy this just to replace your forend, you buy it to add a weapon mounted light. When you compare to other options to add a capable/reliable light to your weapon it’s relatively cheap.

Stryker or hammer !

the grip in this video.... I have personally tried it and I must say... extremely NOT ergonomic !!!!!
@mickmacstabletopreviews84662 жыл бұрын
The rapture grip on the Mossberg Shockwave is not appreciated by everyone. I see it as a functional compromise, but I've also seen where some owners have opted to replace it with a pistol style grip. There is absolutely no “attachment” that will stay attached to this gun through extended use period. This for end will stay attached to the gun but I promise you the light itself will not hold up.

Note at about 4:28 I did show what was available from Amazon (source) and the brand and link for the tool of your choice is implied. There's been some controversy over which tool is best and I chose not to go into that during this review which just focused on the Streamlight Racker itself. Sorry if that was insufficient but thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
