God bless you! You just saved me like $5000. I just moved into a home with 7 mini splits and i was just researching that it's on average $400 per unit to have them serviced and you should do it twice a year! That's outrageous for something so simple. I can do this myself! I'm gonna order all these Nu-Calgon products this spring and clean all these units myself! Thank you!!!

That is a super high price. I used to pay 500 for 7 machines in Hawaii to be cleaned. Now I do them myself. I usually take the blower wheel out. Have been scared of trying this method now I am thinking of trying it.

We have an old mini split (16 years old) where I work and the maintenance guy “says” he cleans it but I can promise it has never been cleaned like this. It will blow black/gray chunks out and we have to have a suction pump on it to help it drain or it will just spill over from the unit

It depends on how many heads they have in the house. If they only have one head, I will charge around a hundred and twenty-five dollars. If they have multiple, I will drop the price around seventy five dollars per head

I'm curious how the Turbo Tank does on seriously impacted condensing coils. I use the Port-O-Blaster, but really like the 90° head and the interchangeable tips on the Turbo Tank, as well as the option to use batteries. As I live in a vacation destination, we do a lot of maintenance at resorts, and the grounds keepers are less than careful about blowing grass straight into the coil. Couple that with the fact that hundreds of them are the old, nearly indestructable, Rheem achiever 10 models and we encounter some seriously dirty coils lol

Cool. I'm used to using the speedy clean jet coil cleaner and bib kit. It works well too. I'm not familiar with the samsung indoor heads but how come you don't remove the plastic shroud/ housing before cleaning? Is it not designed to easily come off, like a Mitsubishi head?

Hey Tad, This is one of the best videos I’ve seen. I’m not an HVAC guy but just a homeowner. I’ve reached out to Nu-Calgon about those products you listed in the description. I have a question though. The air handler you cleaned in the video is definitely a different brand that I have installed in my home. The ones that I have are Johnson Controls/York, Models DHP18NWB21S and DHP09NWB21S. Do you have any experience cleaning these? I was wondering what parts I would need to take off (if any) before installing the plastic bib around the unit.
@steezy-geezy438711 ай бұрын
Hey I can’t say I’ve worked with that particular model but one thing I will say to help is that mini splits generally all share the same design with little tweaks im sure if you search up the plans for your model I’m sure there will be some diagram that shows you what panels you would need to take off for servicing. I hope that helped and that you’re able to find a solution to your problem

The blade,blow fan,pan,housing filters....everything must be washed properly. I respect good intensions but this is for homeowners diy.... P.s.wash filters from inside out...logical...🤷🏻♂️

This is why I will never work on or PM a mini split that another contractor or DIY’er installed. Ever. I got an E6 error code cleaning a 12 yr old unit. It finally went away after drying out completely, ate 3 more hours of labor. Another reason to install a standard central ducted system with an Aprilaire high efficiency air cleaner unless you absolutely have to have a mini split. Oh yeah, those cheep plastic 1500 micron filters are what caused the nasty slop water runoff. Glorified window bangers.
