Mini Treadle Hammer Version 2 - More power but still Simple, Compact and Cheap

The second attempt at a simple, low cost, fast build treadle hammer that will work in my tiny shop. 8lbs hammer rigged over a post anvil with the smallest footprint possible.

I would put a small tight spring on the foot pedal to reduce the pull on the wall at the pully. Looks like it wants to pull the wall out at the bottom end of the pedal movement. I just made this and found the same thing.

The three bolts holding the hinge will wiggle ever-so-slightly in the drill holes, wearing them wider. Eventually they'll loosening the joint. Put a metal plate between the wingnuts and the 2x4.

I would try moving the wire on the hammer furter back. so that The hammer would travle further, with å lott lese foot pedal movement. That would give a quicket hammer swing as well.

Little worried about the springs getting you in the face it may be worth throwing a thin tin box or plywood around it for if they go flying its not at you

A thin walled PVC black irrigation pipe off cut, sleeve fitting loosley should do the job..!?
