Start using coffee. Instant coffee, add hot water, let cool rinse your with it after washing. Or place in a spray bottle and spray your scalp daily. Add the instant coffee to your shampoo and conditioner. Take regular coffee add your favorite oil and make coffee oil. Strain, Add rosemary, lavender and peppermint essential oil. Use that oil daily. Melt shea butter add that oil to the butter. Use a green tea rinse Use a rosemary and clove rinse Use a fenugreek seed tea rinse. Boil the seeds and use the tea Smoosh aloe Vera on your scalp Use 100% Banata oil on your scalp. Make sure it’s in solid form. The brand i love love is RA Cosmetics. It’s a grip but it works. Amazon or Etsy I lost my hair in 2018 bc of chemo. Grew back…then i lost it again in 2021 bc my daughter was in a car wreck and was in the hospital for 3 days. One month later my hair fell all the way out. Just as it was growing back from that my son died November 2022. Sooooo yea, i just took my braids out to rebraid using the Batana oil and my length is pushing 11”. I also message my scalp everyday. I keep my hair braided and use wigs. Do not get weaves or braid extensions. Protective style my foot. That’s the very thing that’s breaking our hair. Good luck and woosaa💆🏽♀️

As someone with fine long natural hair, I can appreciate the full expanding twists. They look beautiful. Hope you feel better soon and thanks for sharing!

They look beautiful! First time I did twists it took also forever!! Several things helped me cut down the time: 1. Twisting slightly more loosely. 2. Using the proper twisting technique (which will allow you to twist more loosely without them unraveling); Get glam fam has probably the best YT tutorial on twisting. 3. Twisting faster. This is also aided by correct technique. But also, to protect my hands while going faster I wear hand braces (the kind you get from the pharmacy section at walmart). I just take the metal out. Makes a huge difference.

Anthony Dickey has said that for every hour you spend braiding/twisting your hair, you can keep it for up to a week. So, for the 5.5 hours you've spent, you could keep it for a bit over a month 😊.

I’m keeping mine in for 6-8 weeks. I’m sure they’ll take at least 10-12 hours. I’m going them over 2 days

Gorgeous twists!! 🤩 Girl you have so much beautiful hair - not just very long but super thick 😲 Now that you have so much length there are so many more twist styling options if ever you want to change your look, either way it's gonna be gorgeous every time❤❤❤

Your hair grew so longggg do you think one day you can do maybe kind of like a product haul?😭 (yes I’m nosey) not really a haul but showing maybe basic products you like to use?

I feel you on the body pain after doing your hair. I have to use a heating pad on my back or neck nearly every week when washing and style day comes around. And it’s even worse when I’ve done my own box braids or senegalese twists

First off, your twists look great! But, you had me crying 😂at the end (empathetically, ofc!) because last year, I injured my finger creating that same style on my head right before a week of traveling. Except, I hadn't made the connection as to why my pinky had become so sore. I thought I was developing arthritis(!) and went to the doctor in a panic. The diagnosis was trigger finger and I was given a little plastic oval finger brace to wear on my pinky for a couple weeks. This helped keep my finger stabilized until the swelling/soreness subsided. Swelling went down within a week and the brace became too large for my finger. Eventually it came off on the plane back home without my noticing until hours later. Hope your fingers are back to 100% capacity soon! ❤

Love love love your hair. It’s been a joy watching your journey. You have such beautiful hair and so versatile. Been sporting micro twists almost exclusively lately. Just the perfect low maintenance style. Try to twist them a little more damp, with a Jam gel, and tighter twisting (don’t pull out as you twist, twist in short more compact cross overs) they may not relax and puff out as much. Hard to say with your thickness though, but I see other naturals with super thick hair have no puffing when they twist shorter and use more product or moisture. Mine will only puff if I moisturize them after they dry. They will 1/2 double in size. I do that when I wear micro minis and there’s too much scalp because the twists are tiny. It gives them a slight lived in look and you can’t see my scalp. Been wearing mini or micro mini twists since last spring. After I wash and condition, I put them in larger twists like 12-14 and then take about a week to turn those sections into micro twists. I will spray the section with a hair milk or use a mousse, section and then two strand twist with Jam gel. I have about 120 currently, but I like them at around 250. It’s just too much to do that. I don’t know how you did that in one sitting. It took me a month to install about 300 last fall as I was going on a trip and wanted them to be micro. I just kept breaking down the sections even further but only worked on them after work in the evenings or on the weekends a bit in short sessions. My last install was 80, but I broke them down further a week ago to 120. I wear them about 4-6 weeks. I like twisting them in larger sections and putting them in flexirod rollers. I started wearing them to see if I would like locs. I don’t have your thickness, but the length and hair maintenance has become something I don’t want to deal with so much anymore. Still considering locs, but on the fence. I’m afraid of alopecia from the constant strain of reties. The twists are just two strand, no braiding at the scalp or anything. I wore the 300 micro twists for 8 weeks. Took a week and 1/2 to take them down. I absolutely loved them. Another two weeks and they would’ve started to loc up. 😅 If I could find a stylist who would redo them for me every 8 weeks at a reasonable price I would go for it.

Hey, about your arm. Its probably due to muscle strength imbalance. I started doing light upper body workouts with 2kg dumbbells and my arms are usually fine even after hours of twisting. Maybe it can help. It will surprise you how weak the left arm is. Try it.

Yes! I was going to say the same thing. I exercise a lot and it def does help with hair care. I have waist length hair and I have 5 kids with equally long and thick coils. My hands would not survive if I didn't lift some weights. LOL!

Im amazed by how your hair has evolved over the years! My hair is pretty big at times and when doing twists I try to make sure if I want a sleek look I twist the hair as I’m twisting down like a Senegalese technique. Hold it firm and twist each as you’re twisting down.
