Here is how I installed my Cubic Mini Cub wood burning stove in my 1956 46' vintage Chris Craft wooden boat.
This how-to video should help anyone installing a small wood stove in a boat, a tiny home, log cabin or camper. I used Dickenson Marine stainless steel hardware including 3" chimney, exhaust cap and deck fitting.
Yet another hole in my old wooden boat!

So much for not wanting to put a hole in the roof. Well, it does look nice and that's the perfect spot for it, IMO. Now you have all that extra counter space in the kitchen.

Looking good, mate. That should take the edge off the cold.

Solid! Word of caution… burn in outside first

Thanks for the comment and heads up info 👍. The burn in is done, and I actually did it in the boat. I left all the windows and doors open and it took about 4 hours or so. All is well 👍🍺

I was definitely looking forward to this video!! Glad you found the perfect spot for it and get to keep that kitchen space. Hope you do a temperature test like you did on the cabin awhile back. It would be interesting to see how the stove heats up that area. Enjoy!

Looks great! Bet it will be a game changer for you inside there! Do you think a ceiling support T cylinder (5 1/2") will give you an extra level of safety to totally separate any combustibles (wood roof)? Then have it long enough to fit down into the reducer and create a fully enclosed metal lined dead air space safety chamber between the top outside roof all the way down and into the reducer. = 3" pipe -> dead air -> 5 1/2" T cylinder (2" top circular T flange resting on top outside of roof) & protecting roof/ interior ceiling/reducer/vinyl headliner and ring. Just like the idea of the fire box going through a cabin roof to totally separate roof materials and create a large vented dead air space with an extra added layer of the metal divider walls of the box.

Good plan for sure and I thought about it. Some people used a insulated 5" pipe around the 3" pipe. It doesn't get very hot at the top especially around the headliner. It gets warm but even on full blast it's not actually hot to the touch. I do like the exposed 3" coming up through the cabin because it lets off a lot of heat into the boat. Even the outside deck fitting that is screwed to the roof stays cool. 🍺👍. I'm keeping an eye on it, but so far, so good.

think about a safety type sleeve/rings/railing to put around your new wood burner so you don't actually slip into it. Sorry can't think of the proper name. Keep up the Good work on her.

Awesome 👍 great location, does this nice slate plate protect the countertop from heat and ash? And did you bolt it to the surface ..in case of waves etc. ? I guess that beer tastes twice as good as usual with a furnace going🍺 great Job🍻
@JimmyMeatwhistle
@JimmyMeatwhistle Жыл бұрын
Hello my friend. The stove is bolted to the slate and I still have to attach the slate to the countertop. I'll do that within the next week or so. I actually raised the slate up a little bit more, to 3/8 of an inch off the counter top, so the counter top stays fairly cool with that air gap 👍🍺

Hi Jimmy. That makes a lot of sense. Hopefully it’ll heat more of the boat. Plus you don’t want to have a fire! Can you still buy that little stove and where? I think it’s way nice. It sort of reminds me of my antique cookstove. Happy Friday and weekend!

I hope so Nancy! So far it's been pretty awesome, it's really cooking this boat! Yes, the stoves are still available, this was a new one. Good idea, I'll add a link to the cubic Mini website in the description. Here's the link👍. cubicminiwoodstoves.com/ Have a GREAT day Nancy 🍺🍺

Fir is not a good choice, except for initial kindling. Sappy, makes beaucoup creosote. just a tip. Burn seasoned hickory or oak.

@@JimmyMeatwhistle For a stove that size, buy untreated,unfinished salvage lumber or even new lumber and slice it up. Cabinet shops may be a good source. Or clean your chimney very very often. A 2000 degree chimney fire would be a nightmare. Fir or pine will burn very quickly, too.
