I love when a project looks so amazing but the inside looks like arts and crafts day. It looks so much heavier than it is!

Suggestions? OK When you have magnets glued to Side A, you can use those to locate the magnets for side B, then glue the magnetically sealed magnets onto Side B, removing the need for all those pins. Each of those trapezoidal forms ought to also have an optional roof, so that you can choose to use them as three separate terrain pieces or assemble them into the tower. If you're going to end up with visible pinholes, consider adding extra pinholes along the edges to make them look more like a construction feature.

Timely video - with my local dollar store selling toy tanks with guns that look perfect for turbo lasers, I was starting to think 'how can I make a turbo laser battery' - the modularity is a bonus

Awesome to hear. I've been working on a turbo laser for the top of this one already. Toy tanks is a great idea!

Thanks for the great video. I would be really keen to see a video of taking the painting further with weathering etc. cheers
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom. I'll be doing some weathering and more detailed painting on these in the future, I've done some weathering and stuff on other terrain pieces, but my Star Wars Legion terrain is still fairly plain at this point. I do have a playlist of videos that contain some form of painting or weathering on the channel so far if you're interested though. Thanks for the comment mate.

haha, I don't know what to say, you're right...If we were talking about saving lives (or if the channel was in any way for children), I would probably be sure to take more time to go through some kind of safety process and tutorial. But I'm hoping common sense and a healthy respect for sharp things can go without saying here. Thanks for watching and commenting mate :)
@karebear4485
@karebear4485 3 жыл бұрын
@@RFDHobby yeah no i get that. I also cut towards my fingers on occasion. It’s just easier sometimes. Your welcome! Your tower idea is a good one! It looks very similar to the ones on the Death Star. Is that what you based it off of?
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby 3 жыл бұрын
@@karebear4485 I did some looking around for star wars images showing 'mechanical' structures I could feasibly build (it wasn't easy haha). But these were trying to be a fairly simple representation of those exact towers. I hope to be able to build some cannons that I can mount on these one day too.

Nice! I like the scifi feel the sprues give. Yeah i know they are sprues but I also think ‘ooooh wonder what that would do? Heating? Cable protection? Pipes for the toilet?’ 😝 Love it.

Nice work, quality Star Wars terrain tutorials are severely lacking on KZbin. I'd love to see some Tatooine, Bespin, or generic spaceport-style stuff.
@RFDHobby

Thanks Joshua, I have plans for more very soon. There's heaps of inspiration in the star wars universe alone, but hopefully these will be generic enough to use in most things.

I like your work. Have you ever built SciFi buildings for 3.75" figures, such as original Star Wars or GI Joe?
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary, I have not, but the 3.75" star wars figures would be great fun to play around with, and a really good scale to work in. I've made some pieces for 1/10th scale (I have a couple of 1/10th scale Radio controlled vehicles that I play around with), so it's not out of the question at all. Converting cheap toys is a great way to start, and with larger scales it becomes much easier to find stuff. Thanks for the comment mate.

I love your work The paint booth you use to prime How do you like it Does it vent outside Or does it use a filter
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby Жыл бұрын
Hey Tobias, Thanks mate. The booth has a filter at the back, which can be removed and cleaned if required, but it also has an extraction fan that can attach a hose to vent the air whereever you like.
@tobiasm268
@tobiasm268 Жыл бұрын
@@RFDHobby We are looking into getting a setup like this We have a couple of airbrushing kits We use masks But I would prefer to filter and vent it right out
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby Жыл бұрын
@@tobiasm268 This will make a big difference. The fan in the back is large, and does a good job of pulling the air through, so it keeps a room fairly clear of overspray and fumes. Even though it has the filter, if you vent this through something like a screen on your window, it will likely leave a stain on the screen over time. But some kind of air extraction setup, even homemade, is always a good idea.
