I love food containers. I have a full 3x6 area made of buildings already from them. I go through a lot of tufu since I'm vegan and they work great for small buildings and mushroom containers work great for medium sized ones. I have my mom keep containers now too. There are some really great lasagna ones she gets from Walmart that I use for hangars.

I particularly liked the glamor shots taken from ground level. This gave the buildings a feel of larger scale. Felow makers, tubs full of greeblies are essential!

I've watched a lot of trash builds, but yours truly stands out to me for the ingenuity of your combinations to get appropriate shapes. I might consider adapting one of your builds one day to include a playable interior. Consider me a new subscriber.

Thank you :) I enjoy doing them so it's gonna be a somewhat regular thing on the channel for sure! You could definitely add a removable roof to these. Let me know how it goes :p

I don't even like SW (Yeah, yeah. I know.) but I'm loving your take on it. Personal faves, on this one: the phone clamp bits, and the simplicity of sliced foamcore as a door. Things learned: how-to curved window sills and such, and using a sculpting nib as a paintbrush. Really enjoyed this one... twice 😃

really nice setup. I like the overall design and you can tell it's playable and not just there to look cool (which it does too). Can I make a small suggestion? I think this would look even better with a bit more detailing on it. If you greebly up those flat surfaces it would create even more visual interest and make it feel a bit more real. I don't know if that would take too long - I know that when you're producing videos for youtube there's always a time pressure to get it edited and uploaded. but anyway, definitely learned some stuff from this - I have a bunch of those plastic food containers and have been mulling over how to use them.

Thanks for the input! I still work a fulltime job and this channel/blog is almost as demanding timewise as a FT job so it's a lot to juggle, but I do try and push myself to go a little further with each video. So over time my builds should get more detailed as I develop my skillsets :p

It is truly amazing how you can take a bunch of miscellaneous crap that anyone else would just throw in the recycling bin and turn it into such incredible terrain!! I wish you would do a video sharing some of your insights into how you compose your creations. Do you go into a project knowing what you’re looking for; or, do you just piece it together as you go along? What do you look for when you’re collecting the pieces?
@hauntswargaming2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try to talk more about that next time :p Each project is different. For the trash terrain I mostly just improvise. With the control tower I started with the top piece with the metallic strip around it. It has a really interesting texture that looked like a wrap around window to me. That was going to be the window originally but I ended up putting windows below it. I pretty much keep anything that has a unique texture or design on it. At some point I want to do a video on that too.

I’ve been trying to find a good way to strengthen thin plastic and I like the glue and sand trick I saw on another one of your videos (though I haven’t tried it yet). I was actually considering expanding spray insulation foam too but I don’t know if it will work.
@hauntswargaming Жыл бұрын
If you can support the shape while the foam cures it'll work. I really like the glue and sand technique, you just have to be sure you aren't going to need to cut it afterward, cuz it's like cutting through stone lol.
@adamdahlberg44032 жыл бұрын
Great job, love the video. One quick question. Did you not prime this model because the other building the foam was eaten away?
@hauntswargaming2 жыл бұрын
I didn't use spray paint so no issues with the foam being eaten away. The mod podge acts as a primer and strengthens the base coats, helping prevent chipping. I've been mixing that with the paint for the first few layers of paint. Seems to work pretty well. Also sanding any smooth plastic surfaces before painting is really important. Thanks for watching!

One thing I like to do with random plastic bits is to prime with Minwax Polyshades. I think it sticks to most things.
