Heather, I'm wondering, can you just twist the cane before slicing and get a swirl? As in twisting each end in opposite directions.
@heathernwells10 жыл бұрын
redhotsweetpotatoe I actually tried that a few times when I was designing them and tried to get a swirl and it never worked. because you are taking slices. I added a great deal of twist and it just didn't work. After being fustrated, I bought a tutorial and they made the same cane I did and twisted.. which I tried. Their photos had a little twist and they were a little sloppy. Following their instructions I still couldn't get the twist. Now years later after you comment, I think it is possible,you would have to do it when the cane was still fairly large and push inwards while twisting. Compacting the clay.
@redhotsweetpotatoe10 жыл бұрын
thank you Heather. You've just saved me a lot of stress and pulling out my hair. I would have tried it myself but am out of clay at the moment...now I'm glad I was. ;0)

Zichmoz Another way to do it is leaving the cane a little larger, and wrapping the cane slice fully around the ball, trying to bring the points together in the reverse side trimming off excess if needed. Here is a search showing many pretty lentil beads
Heather Wells Aha, so that's what those beads called. I now have an ocean or galaxy-themed lentil bead on my future craft list. Thanks for the reply and tip!

@heathernwells9 жыл бұрын
You are right :) I make the canes smaller by rolling it more. I form the canes and bak them. For peppermint sticks and peppermint candies I will bake the canes at the size I want them to be, and the I will slice them to the appropriate slices when I need them :) Thank you so much for watching :) Heather

my realisation doesn't do that. When I roll dought, the drawing pattern isn't the same like yours. I don't use polymer but cold porcelain, maybe it's the reason why it doesn't work. I don't know how to do... Could you explain me please ?
@heathernwells2 жыл бұрын
It works well with premo and fimo… which are pretty firm I don’t know the consistency of cold porcelain. It may be timing it just perfectly. When it is hardening but still has some give… enough not to crack. I am guessing as I have not used cold porcelain
@sandrinou13292 жыл бұрын
@@heathernwells cold porcelain is not enough hard like fimo. Effectively, when we roll and cut, it collapses..

what did you use to give the shine looks?
@aye_its_evangeline70957 жыл бұрын
She most likely used a glaze, which you can find in the same section you buy your clay at most craft stores such as Michaels. I use Sculpey glaze which I find right next to the Sculpey clay. It works pretty good, but there are better brands. Sculpey tends to wear away after long periods of time, and sometimes it becomes stickey to the touch. I started clay when I was about 11(I'm only 13 now so I haven't been doing it that long) and I don't know much so my charms are not anything great, so Sculpey works fine for now. But if you are looking for something that will last a long time and keep its shine I would recommend researching a better brand :)
