Miniature Railways of Great Britain Barton House Railway June 2018

This railway must be the shortest ground level 7 1/4 railway we have ever rode.Set out in the garden of a private house in Wroxham Norfolk.
The pretty garden is on a steep slope,not ideal for a garden railway,you can see the guys bringing the loco from the shed down to the lower part of the garden by rope,do they drive it back? I don't know.A raised track has been built on the lower part of the garden,as you can see o the film,we didn't know the waterfront had two stations,so missed that side of the railway.
The owner must be railway mad (just like us) as he has some very nice railway items on display around the house/museum.
Just one thing we didn't like the staff seemed miserable and that they didn't enjoy there work.
The boat trip back on the Broads was nice though.

Yeah - Roy's of Wroxham! Wroxham is one of the weirdest towns in the UK and this railway fits in well. As always, thanks, Chris, for going the extra mile(s) to bring this to the screen.

That must be unique! To get loco from steaming bay to track.......'where there's a will, there's a way' springs to mind.

It certainly would be a struggle driving down but not impossible,just need good brakes and renew them often.......Regards Chris

We call it Wrox of Roysham and yes SOME can be miserable but there are also some nice ones, interesting video and i'd never noticed the railway before that i could remember but my better half explained where it was.

I like that, Roysham! LOL! How many shops has he got or does he own the town? Just back from hols on the Broads and we ofc passed the house but unfortunately it was the wrong day so couldn't visit and anyway it was so hot i don't think i could have left my beer to walk all the way there :). As to Roy's ,they have 3 or 4 different shops in the town but theyre all bunched together and its not a big place so it does look as though they dominate the place and i think they also have a large store in Beccles, anyway a nice video and im glad i spotted it i'm not a BIG train fan though i worked on Newcastle Metro for 30+ years but keep up the good work Chris.

It doesn't take a lot to smile and chat and have joke or to your customers does it Dave! After all they might enjoy there day better.We love it when the kids have a ride on our trains and the mums and dads get on too, we can have a laugh with them all....If they guys don't like the job,pack it in!.....Best wishes Chris.

That's a secret Frank!! The goal is to ride every Standard gauge preserved railway,Narrow gauge/Miniature Railway,since we included the Model Engineering Societies as well this has slowed it down a lot..We started this on our honeymoon in Wales 46 years ago,then a mortgage slowed things,with the arrival of or daughter that slowed it down to a holiday a year,we are now pushing on through retirement,this means we have more time to complete our goal.I would say we are 3/4 of the way,but then somebody will say have you rode this railway! that then gets added to the list.......Regards Chris
