I don't know if you noticed but you were using your drill in reverse which might have made it easier to drill the holes and might not have had the wood break where it did, I agree a smaller bit would have helped too. Great job overall, still waiting for the videos on the techniques used for the building!!

They look a lot more like spruce trees than pine trees--but very nice as spruce trees.

That’s a tough one. The trunk would be easy, just use a thicker stick or even a real stick. At that scale you could get some more realism that way. For the branches. This material comes in bigger branches that I cut up to do this. Maybe use bigger portions of the branch?
