Hi guys! Today we're making this cute miniature treasure chest and treasure map :D You can fill it with whatever treasure you want; I just used nail art glitter and rhinestones ;) The chest is made from popsicle sticks which are easy to work with and put together with glue. I made this in 1:12 scale, but you can make it bigger to fit a Barbie or other doll.
Good to know:
I work in 1:12 scale, but you can make them in any size you want and add headpins to make them charms :) I used a mix of the polymer clay brands Fimo and Cernit, but you can use any brand you like. The liquid clay I use is from the brand Fimo. My mold maker is from Siligum/Sili-put.
Thank you so much for watching, I hope you enjoyed this video ^^

It'll need some little gold doubloons, goblets, necklaces and various rhinestones and beads for jewels & pearls! Maybe even a little skull and sword. Love this!!

actually a very lovely chest - the metal was looking kind of odd at first, but when you added the gold coloring - the whole thing came together perfectly. I love the last part with the rhinestones and everything in it - it really looked sparkly and like a treasure chest should look. I almost expected to see a mini dragon swoop down to claim it.

There is a metal tape sold at hardware stores, it's basically aluminum foil with glue. You might find it easier to work with than E-6000 glue and thin metal. It's easy to cut, shape how you will.

@beenwandering: you can buy mini jewelry box latches. They're cheap and easy to find if a 1" long latch looks OK with the treasure chest. Finding one that's smaller is very difficult. I ended up having to make one from sheet brass to get one that's 1/4" wide.

This is both darling and gorgeous! Such simple materials but what a result! I'm hesitant to make any suggestions since your artistic talent is miles and miles beyond mine but . . . dipping crumpled paper into black tea or strong coffee is an easier way of aging it than painting it.
@joannecarroll5504
@joannecarroll5504 5 жыл бұрын
She could also have lightly burned around the edges of the map using a candle, but neither your suggestion nor mine makes it easier - they're just different. A fully painted version could be completed before the kettle was even boiled to make tea. As she already had the paints, it makes the process much easier for her to use them for all aspects of the project while they're out, than to muck around with all the extra steps involved in tea staining or singeing paper, then still having to do the painting anyway.
