I could see doing this with scraps of fabric & tying them too 😁 Thanks

Thank you so much for your tutorial. The cardboard loom is the best tip - I needed to make rugs even smaller than yours for one of those miniature homes that come as kitset. My friend and I have customised some of it and felt the little paper print rugs were insufficient for the amount of time we spent. I followed the tutorial for cutting and instead of making loops around the "pegs" at the top of the card, looped the whole yarn around front and back. Blanket stitch each ends rather than knotting the tassels helped the threads to lay flat and kept the knots tiny. I then added the ends to each side with a different kind of stitch to make a slightly raised ribbed edge. I snipped them in the middle across the back to release the "loops" and then cut them shorter and feathered them for a fluffy tassel - it was easier than trying to tie knots in miniature short ends lol - they look perfect. Thank you!

I was wondering what would happen if you just looped the yarn around the cardboard. So you basically cut off those ends? I suppose if you wanted a smaller scale you could use embroidery thread. Some people braid yarn or embroidery thread together, then make those braided rugs by gluing them together. Either a circle or oval. I've seen people use some trim with fringes and sew it to each end of the rug too

@@recoveringsoul755 Yes I cut them at the mid point across the back, and then I could cut them to the length I wanted, evenly. I never thought about embroidery thread but that would have worked pretty well too. I made two, one with two different shades of yarn and one with marbled yarn. The marbled yarn looked absolutely amazing, but we went with the two different shades one since we ended up with a light mat with dark tassels and it suited the colour of the house better. We ended up with more tiny house/room kitsets, so I might try some of these ideas for other rugs, thank you :)
