My minibeds are about 7 yrs old. I was about to give up gardening because of so much weeding, but minibeds saved me from having to do that anymore. My covercrop this year was bean-pea-vetch, which in my zone 9 doesn't winter kill. No cover crop winter kills here. So I'm pulling by hand, laying in minibed and covering with whole oak leaves. Hardwire cloth keeps it down to decay and from blowing away. Great update.

Hi Herrick. I have made three batches of fire cider. Every single one turns out differently. I love it, my husband is not a fan. I use it to mix up a salad dressing or, just take a few tablespoons as a preventative when I'm feeling a little under the weather. As far as horseradish goes, I've been growing it for 2 years. It can get very big, and it spreads on its own.

Hi👋👋Happy Thanksgiving. I started with mini beds this year in northern Kentucky. Ex cayuga county resident.have my garlic and shallots and winter rye in them now and mulched for winter .Here its a little milder so the beds show growth .But even with cold weather the garlic gets brown edges but as soon as the mild spring weather starts it comes back with a vengeance.

No. 40 years and it has never happened. I do wish I had the land to have the garden behind my house. But the soil is so good and the space gets full sun. 👍

Yikes! I hope your grandson is ok! Love the rambling! I have one grapevine that is at least 15 years old..I think I should prone it but that's kinda scary since I've never done it. Why do you say you mulch w roots and then say you want to leave roots in the ground?

Roots in the ground are good for soil biology and structure. But if there are plant stubble stumps I remove those with the intention of having clear soil to plant into. I probably should have said I like to mulch with old plant stubble (with some roots attached). I also mulch with pulled weeds. 👍
