Well done for your response to this situation. As both a driver and a cyclist, too many drivers think that they are free to move once they put their indicator on. Being on a bike means no protection from a collision. The warning is also good and will hopefully make the driver more aware of those around him, if he behaves like this again he's not got any defense.

It's shocking driving- you can't just put your indicator on for two seconds and expect everyone in the left lane to get out of the way, whether they are cyclists or drivers. On the other hand a little more caution might have been required - the three pointed star on the back of the car is a universal symbol to indicate the driver might be dangerous and can pull out at any time.
@RoadkillbunnyUK5 жыл бұрын
I admire your careful consideration, being able to see and admit you missed the indication (not that using an indicator gives you right of way but it does show that the original intent wasn’t to cause harm) and restraint in opting to go with a warning in this case. It also proves to the idiot commenters I always see in the comments who claim the driver is never in the wrong and you are just ‘out to get’ drivers. This is a plainly ridiculous and deluded point of view pushed by just the type of person who uses their vehicle as a weapon against other road users that they deem ‘unworthy’ to use the roads. These views aren’t worth a thing but it is always good to be able to debunk their little fantasies. Keep it up, I’m not able to drive anymore due to vision loss and I’m not able to ride a bike anymore but your dedication helps to protect all vulnerable people who are out and about and as a wheelchair user I thank you, being low and fairly slow drivers like this scare the bejesus out of me!

The car clearly didn't see him but he indicated, and Gaz didn't see it. They were both wrong. All these psychopaths saying they will smash the car and the driver and applauding that the car was whacked, just goes to show what sort of people you really are who condone such aggression. MANY cyclists in London do not follow road rules, they don't even stop at red lights, and then play victim when they nearly get hurt or they smash cars wing mirrors because of a near miss. No one is a perfect cyclist/driver. Neither am I and neither are all of you. But if everytime we all made mistakes and we got our vehicles/cycles smashed or even our heads knocked off the block because of near misses, that would be such a dangerous world to live in. Stop defending blatant errors by cyclists and cars.

@roadbiker83335 жыл бұрын
LOL so just because he said he didn't see it it means he admitted that he was at fault? Yes he said he didn't see it, but that doesn't mean he was at fault. Just because you have done option A and you are disappointed that you didn't do option B, doesn't mean you are at fault. It's a fact that it's the car's fault for an unsafe lane change. There are many legal cases and documents about it if you don't know how the road works. Let me ask you, If a car changed lane into you, who is at fault? Why is your answer different from your opinion here? If you didn't see a car flying out of side road and it run into you, is that your fault immediately because you didn't see it? It's the car's fault. And in the video, Gaz clearly pointed out to the driver that he thinks it's the car's fault for changing lane into him. Didn't you hear him saying "Fuking Whole." and "Fuking Look"? TWO very clear sentences that Gaz admitted that car is at fault, not him. Gaz is only disspointed that he didn't see the car. He never admitted that he was at fault. Dim wit.

The indication is visible at 2:49. The driver was slow to move once he started indicating. Had he indicated then immediately moved (following usual mirror checks) this situation would have been avoided. Possibly in an attempt to avoid crossing the solid white. Indicator was missed by Gaz. Driver missed Gaz in mirror despite bright lighting. The cause is not swearing, mistakes on both sides here, admittedly a very minor one by Gaz and nothing that would constitute legal liability or negligence, just a mistake. Cyclists get annoyed a bit more since a minor bump on a car is an inconvenience but the reciprocal impact can be much more serious, hence the shouting. Plus it makes good KZbin fodder.

derek goodwin These are the sentiments of someone who clearly is not accustomed to regularly commuting by bicycle in urban areas. in an ideal world we should all keep our cool. however the experience of riding a bike myself in Manchester is that the average journey through the city involves several incidents a day of drivers behaving maliciously towards you and endangering your safety in the process. on a bad journey you might encounter several incidents and the anger that causes unfortunately has a cumulative effect on you, the cyclist. you come to the inevitable conclusion that some of these people literally couldn't care less if you live or die. And that is going to make any person angry even the most placid individual. So until you get out of your car and experience it for real on a regular basis you're not really in a position to moralise on this cyclist's response to this unpleasant situation.Yes, he probably didn't get the best response from the driver himself by getting angry but there are reasons cyclists get angry and it's not simply to do with egos or any crap like that. It's to do with the very real threat of danger to their safety they are subjected to on a daily basis. And it shouldn't have to be like that in a civilised country.And for the record I also drive a car, a van and a motorcycle and have done for 35 years.so I am well qualified and entitled to comment .thank you very much

Yet cyclists get away Scot free because they don't have insurance. A cyclist merged into a lane that I was on without looking and smacked into my door mirror and cracked it.
