You don't even have to go as far as to ban cars. Just ban parking next to tram tracks. Turn that curbside space into extra lanes, maybe a bike lane, just keep parking away from there. If people want to park, they can go to a nearby alley or street without a tram track.

I used to ride my bicycle from our house near Naples, Italy in an area called Licola, to where I worked for the US Navy in the Capodichino district, near the airport. I road through some very urban roads, as you do, and I held a whistle, which had a ridge around the lip part, in my teeth over certain sections of the ride. When the whistle was not needed, it was on a tether around my neck. It came in very handy, er, lipy a few times.

The trams are great, what should happen is they should employ cyclists to ride the tram rout give them walky talkies or something to call up tow trucks that are on standby whom come along within 5 minutes and tow the cars away. Or simply ban cars on tram routs either way the trams are great and the cars need to obey the law. That broken down van should have been towed away. The officials need to get tough on bad parking.

We have the same problems with people parking too close to the tram rails here in The Hague, Netherlands. I remember couple years back taking the tram back home from work, we were stuck for an hour cause someone put their car too close to the tracks making my 1 hour journey home a 2 hour long ride XD. As for pedestrians using the cyclepath. Luckily we don't have that problem really, except for Amsterdam. Many tourists don't seem to know the difference between a cycle lane and the side walk eventhough the cycle lanes are bright red and seperated with a curb from the side walk.

Might be the mentality. Eastern europe all over. There are also cyclists who kick in car mirrors. Or when you wait at a pedestrian crossing and a bmw/audi/suv has to stop for you. the moment the road is clear they will let you know how insulted they were by having to wait for anyone and do so by speeding off real quick. It was way easier in Netherlands. And over there the only aggressive driver I saw was somebody with a sports car that had latvian plates. edit: commuted from work to home now. on my way I saw several cars that were in the bicycle lane, one SUV that used bicycle lane to speed past a car that was still starting from behind a red light (50 metres ahead of me), and a SUV that overtook me leaving barely any space between us. and several cars that decided to drive out all the way onto the bicycle lane before being sure whether they could make their turn. :D:D:D:D

It seems like that some of the pedestrians in Lisbon are a bit BRAINDEAD!!! Totally ignoring the use of cycle lanes when CLEARLY there is a separate pedestrian pathway for them to use. Mind you here in the U.K cyclists & pedestrians get constantly under each others feet ( in each others way😠😡) due to the lack of respect & seperate areas for each other. YES!!! it can be a major problem but, the lack of space to make these changes is extremely very limited ( litteraly limited to do anything about it) & besides the so called government is not really bothered in doing anything about this. They moan we can't afford to do this we can't afford to do that etc, etc. But, can afford to line their pockets MORE!!! Tipical of the TIGHTFISTED!!! 👎 so called government. Our friends in continental Europe know a thing or two about taking things lightly. We have too many confrontations in the UK for nothing and it’s usually down to education and learning how the road and it’s subsidiaries work. Personally I’m not overly bothered about pedestrians in a cycle lane or path. It’s motorists who don’t know how to drive that bother me the most. After visiting many countries in Europe, I think I’d rather live on the continent, much more chilled.

There is no point in having a tram, if it gets stuck in traffic all the time. Trams need to run smoothly, undisturbed by other traffic. Preferrably in separated lanes. Inside a city, tram should be like "horizontal elevator".

Now, is the regulation to stop for pedestrians just stood on the footpath, or pedestrians occupying the crossing? I would say the latter, because otherwise, 'technically', drivers cannot assume that a pedestrian is about to step onto a crossing. Czech rules seem to be 'about to cross', but that would be if they are stepping out and not just standing and waiting, like the man did. If a pedestrian just stands there, are you going to stop and wait all day? No. You must step onto the street first, otherwise, vehicles shouldn't really stop. This whole video is a bit of a whinge. *shrugs*
