Hi, you can use a copper alligator clip on the wire as a heatsink and burn the enamel off of the magnet wire which will allow for a good solder joint. Common practice in rewinding motors. Then you should be able to make them as short as you want. Take care to manage the heat in the wire to not damage the windings.

@@doug5713 that’s a great trick! I’ll have to try it on a bad motor to get the hang of it! What temp are you heating to?

before inception of the comet, this was my all-time fave speed heli. unfortunately, it will cost me both kidneys to afford it so I have to depend on this channel to my fire burning. great job!

@@feudallordcult I have always wanted a Diablo S. For many many years. Very glad to finally have one and add to my speed collection. They are not cheap at all! Very expensive helis.

I believe that’s the baddest heli in existence. So sick my friend.
@westhobbiesrc80512 ай бұрын
Diablo claims it is the fastest helicopter ever produced. It is super aerodynamic and extremely lightweight since the fuselage is fiberglass and not carbon fiber believe it or not. It is much lighter.

Great looking helicopter 🚁, I had to Google 7s and 8s lipo because I didn’t even know they made them, that’s a crazy 😜 amount of power, my Spektrum G2 S2200 Smart charger 🔌 only goes to 6s 😢
@westhobbiesrc80512 ай бұрын
Yes sir! Big power packs. They even make true 12s and 14s packs. I personally prefer running 27S or 8S packs because if I damage one or a sell or two goes bad I just have to replace one battery and not an entire stick of them. I use ISDT chargers(who makes the spektrum smart charger) they go up to 8S and 50 amps. I have a few of them and I charge all my packs together.

It can be a little bit of a pain but there are a few ways to remove the enamel from motor winding magnet wire. The easiest but most expensive way is just to buy a cheap solder pot and some bulk solder. You just dip the end of the wire in hold it in there and it will move the insulation and tin the end. Next would be to push the end of the wire down into an aspirin tablet with a soldering iron. There's some sort of chemical reaction magic that removes the insulation for most magnet wire. Finally just straight heat from a torch will often work. Of course any of these methods are going to create a bunch of nasty fumes so you definitely want to do it outside

Have you ever thought of maybe getting some servo horns for this helicopter custom machined, or would it be two expensive of an endeavor?

I am a very stubborn Goblin fan but I have to admit this thing is a beauty. Although I would not own it unless I had a bit more budget and lived closer to you so you could build and rebuild it for me LOL. It looks way too complex for me. Actually even though the Comet is simpler, I will stick to my regular 700's and 3D. I like the thrill of Speed but the work required is just too much for me. I am amazed, though, that after a Speed crash you could get a repairable heli. Usually they end up in pieces going too darn fast. Anyways great job and hope you get plenty of footage since sadly I cannot make it to IRCHA this year. Good luck you have a serious fleet to compete with.

I am a big goblin fan as well. Absolutely love them and they are my number one choice but! I love all helicopters and I really enjoy working in building different brand seeing what they do that is the best of the best compared to what other companies do that is the best of the best. Just really a cool different dynamic. The cool thing about the Diablo is it’s nothing more than a 3-D helicopter in a fiberglass fuselage. I’ve actually got another Diablo 700 3-D helicopter. I’m gonna start putting together soon and a whole anther one for parts. Luckily, when it crashed, it was doing around 160+ mph when it walled straight down, Greg was able to pull back on the stick. It went straight up vertically tail hit, and then it cartwheel across the ground so it was probably only doing 50 when it actually made impact, so thankfully, the damage wasn’t too bad because usually when they go in there is nothing left. Make sure to watch Friday’s video! Hope you can make it next year! Take care.

Jeff, I have a quick question. I'm almost done with my Venom build. I've noticed it has a higher head speed than I like in the videos, but I've seen you and a few others using 60% for low RPM flying. Is that the minimal it will slow to, before it just doesn't have the torque for low RPM flying anymore? I know the motor's more powerful that the standard RS4, but the RS4 seems to have a lower head speed than the Venom. So hence the reason for the question if it can still perform very well at lower than 60% head speed? I want to set mine up for 75-80% for Idle up 2, but I want Idle up 1 to be 60% or a little below if possible. BTW, that Diablo is a Very SWEET looking Heli! Thanks...
@westhobbiesrc80512 ай бұрын
@@AnythingEverythingRC-rc1yc I’ve not tired anything under 60% but I don’t see why not. The KV is higher then the regular RS4 motor and that’s why your rpm is more even with the same throttle curves. I would say try 40-50% and see how it does. I think it will do just fine. Thank you! It’s a beautiful heli!

You know servo where damage in crash you cant do that in air
@westhobbiesrc80512 ай бұрын
It happened in the air. I watched it, lol if it happened in the crash, the spines would be stripped out of the plastic horn (like the other two where) and they are not. Because the screw backed out and the arm popped. Very easy to figure out.
