What a bunch of disappointing comments from the camping crowd. Forest River R-Pod is where you need to be. I don't know about $38K but the quality alone is worth a huge premium vs all the other junk we have as alternatives in the US. Go look at the quality they have in AUS. This is the closest thing we have to that design & material. Forest River fermaldehyde, Plastic, ply-wood, awful guts & rotted wheel wells are our alternatives here. This is genius & should be rewarded. I love it.

As a millennial law student this is exactly what I want in a trailer. A lot of comments are disparaging the price and the simple interior but for many younger people like me a simple, versatile, well designed trailer is exactly what I want. I want to go to the mountains and have room for bikes, kayaks, and be able to set up off the grid. This is tough, light and has tons of storage. The trailers my parents and their friends had made me wonder why you’d ever want one. They were heavy, huge and had outdated styling full of brown and beige and the outside was covered in brown and beige swirls. I didn’t think there were COOL RVs, this is the sort of thing that completely changed my view on if RVing could be cool and something I would buy. It’s not got every feature but I want to go CAMPING not admire my Amish made cabinets at my dinette while microwaving popcorn and watching cable tv. It boggles my mind that RVs and trailers bigger than this one often have nowhere to put a bike or boat unless you get a rack installed. In this you can put up the front bench to store bikes, put boats on the roof, do it all as is. That is the sort of thing that shows what priorities designers have on most RVs. Cheap out on everything you can’t see so you can advertise the cabinets, hdtv, queen sized bed and 3 slide outs etc. This was a great run through of a trailer that screams adventure to me, thanks!

Awesome job presenting the Mantis to us! I didn't care for the sink and burners as one unit. I'd be sure to slop some water while washing dishes. I don't think that would be too good for the automatic pilot.....
@theloneoverlander79104 жыл бұрын
Something that wasn't explained in the video is this: The Mantis is off-road capable. That alone justify this price. I can assure you with this trailer I CAN get to places none of you can get in the ridiculous expensive airstream. I can understand the concern about the simplistic of the design, but understand that this trailer was designed to reach remote places while maintaining a certain amount of comfort. And with that n mind the price is not really at that high.
@beauhawk11464 жыл бұрын
It can only go places between 32 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit, per the owners manual. Not sure of ALL the places, but you can't even ski out of it without rivets popping. There's much better options out there.

Great presentation for a rugged pop up camper with the ability to store in a garage. I do like the idea of this camper. The engineering of the design and the functionality of everything inside will appeal to some looking to camp and experience the openness of this camper. Definitely on my look at list. Nu Camp 320S is still my top contender, but the Cricket is a good size for me as well, the next size down of the TAXA brand.

Seriously 38K! The engineering rule is take the BOM (Bill of Materials), Mark it up and then get out to your potential dealers and customers and see if the price is right and people will buy it. This is definitely way over priced.

You could put together a system of batteries and a robust inverter to run the AC. It would be a custom, after-market package, but it's definitely doable.

This looks very well built, and very innovative, but for what you get the price is really steep. They would have a less spacious feel but I'd prefer an Airstream Basecamp or a NuCamp T@B400 for that money.

Campers that include canvas don't belong in that price range. It's an interesting concept and probably fairly functional, but I can DIY a camper with open shelving, milk crates to hold my stuff, and a shower curtain bathroom.

I'm guessing a first year architectural student designed this ? It's ugly , has little advantage over a traditional pop up camper . I suppose it's cheaper to use milk crates and bungee cords as opposed to cabinet doors ?
@Channel5thirds4 жыл бұрын
It was designed by a senior nasa habitat engineer, with that in mind the Spartan but versatile interior decisions start to make sense. It may not be pretty if your idea of pretty is a conventional rv that looks like a fully finished room in a nice house, but I for one find the super functional no nonsense look appealing when camping. Why would I want to be in my grandmother’s crown moulded, brown swirl covered house when I’m setting up a base camp for a multi day kayak and mountain bike trip? I feel like the design is for young adventurous people who are looking for a solid, reliable cool, clean design that is a versatile space to store whatever equipment you need, rather than a luxury living room for visiting a campground and playing cornhole.
@henryassault13594 жыл бұрын
The worst design for a RV. $38K is just for the steel frame. The rest is garbage. Cheap wood with cushions. Take a dump next to kitchen, yummers!
