AH! Finally, another minimalist that is just a regular person like me! I've seen way too many of these polished, super aesthetic, monochrome, Ikea-like, very rich folks videos of it. I can't identify with that or afford to make my place look so Scandinavian. You're genuine, and that feels right! Sometimes, minimalism videos are a fashion-design show, people wearing just plain colours and expensive clothing. Every time I'm watching these (because I do....) I feel like an underachiever, or that my place doesn't look like it should. Comparision is truly an illness! Anyway, yours felt warm and fuzzy, like an old friend welcoming me into her house. Thanks!

Thank you for showing that even a minimalist has a stash of craft projects in potentia and in progress. I feel like a lot of minimalists on KZbin seem to have decluttered their soul along with their material items. More of your kittie as well please! Love from London xx

Adding a bar of soap to a drawer or closet to keep clothes smelling fresh must be Lesson 1 in the International Mothers’ Teaching Guide. I’m Canadian and my Mom taught me the same thing. I was once given a bar of handmade soap from a woman visiting from Australia who told me not to use it but to put it in a drawer of clothes. Mothers are all the same ❤️

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with the world! It’s interesting how we humans are so fascinated by seeing how another person lives- mostly one in another city or country! I like that the commonality that brings our lives together is minimalism. Although your apartment is furnished with your landlord’s items, you have a way of making it your own without having to fake covering anything for an aesthetic look to appease others. The pressure to do so is normal but to be authentic to oneself is not only gratifying it’s freeing, this is what the definition of a minimalism is supposed to be. Thank you again 😊

Lady Marie, I find that when I watch a video by a person I believe to be a minimalist, and I see that we have similar ideas as to what is minimalism, I feel justified (or that I too belong). I appreciate how you pointed out how humans are fascinated by other’s lives.

“Munching station “-what a wonderful description. I want to start calling the two tables where I eat my munching stations. It was gracious of you to show us every nook and cranny of your living quarters, thanks. As for me, in a small condo with no yard or balcony, I take advantage of public spaces where I can hang a hammock, swing, read and listen to music for hours before returning to my cosy apartment. A sleeping bag keeps me warm in the hammock.

The soap in the clothes thing must be a universally maternal trait 😆 My (Irish) mother always did the same and it's something I do now automatically too lol. Thank you for the tour! In America that amount of space (unfurnished) would cost I think at least $600 for the month just for rent, excluding utilities, even in smaller towns/cities. In larger cities, that space would cost at least $1000 per month. It is always fascinating to me the way the costs of basic necessities fluctuate from country to country. You have a beautiful flat. :)

I am currently staying in a Soviet style apartment in Kyiv, only one room plus kitchen and bathroom so it’s smaller than yours, and honestly I love it (even with the similar neighbors and hallway decor/smells. There are actually gunshot marks on the ceiling above the stairs!) I am an American from California, and I used to do a lot of petsitting in fancy $5 million houses, and I do prefer this sweet little apartment! There is plenty of room for crafts. My favorite part is the balcony, even though it is quite cold out there, it is full of sun and light. My landlady/landlords are super sweet. Your best decoration is obviously your cat, I wish I had a cat here!

Priviet! I am a Spanish teacher living in Moscow. Recently I painted the apartment all in white and my mother in law, who is Russian, was horrified with the result, as she said "it looks like a hospital". It is the style in my country. Few people have paperwalls in Spain. I am always amazed about apartments in Russia and design of paperwalls. In that case, I am super minimalist 😊

Oranges with cloves inserted into them. I think they're called pomanders. The Orange juice is absorbed by the cloves and slowly evaporates as it mixes with the clove scent. You just take a pretty ribbon (satin , grograin etc) and wrap around the orange. Loop the end (for hanging) then insert the cloves.... More or less to your scent preferences. Eventually the orange dries out. You can give to the wildlife, compost it or add essential oil and place in a bowl of other potpourri. :) I'm thinking you could do this with lemons and lines. Not apples, though bc the skin is too thin.

I think it's so so interesting to follow your life. I have so many questions, although I know there are some you don't want/can answer. But something I think you can answer is - What are your thoughts on minimalism being seen as a privilege vs a choice? I come from a working class/lower middle class background and I was born and raised in Sweden (by Chilean parents). We've never been poor, but we didn't have any luxury stuff when I grew up, we lived quite normal lives but Stockholm is very segregated and I grew up partly in lower income neighborhoods that are considered to be more of a "risky"/"bad" neighborhoods - and partly in a more of a middle class neighborhood. I've always thought of my own consumption and I've done a lot of things to be minimal and mindful for climate and equality reasons. I don't want to live in a way that will affect the planet or people in a bad way - but I've always seen, for instance, my moms shopping as something that is more OK because she comes from a poor background. And just as you mentioned in one of your videos parts of my family would think that owning less would mean you are poor and see that as something bad. I would love to hear more of your thoughts on this! Lots of love!

@@AlejandraCerda I really loved your comment about psychology and economics. I've often wondered along the same kind of thing. The choice to not buy, versus the necessity of things. My mum was born in England almost 5 years after the rationing ended in the 1950s and she always saves things "just in case". If you didn't think this way during the rationing, there would be a big chance you would either not have the money or ration coupons to buy it when you needed it, or it simply wouldn't be available to purchase at all because of shortages. I feel like a lot of minimalism leans a heavily on the trust of the "just in time" delivery model that the US and UK operate for their goods.

I grew up dirt poor in NYC and when I got older and had the resources to buy "stuff" I went all in...buying all the things I wanted when I was younger but couldnt afford....but a little after it didnt make me feel any different...I would spend the day just LOOKING at all my stuff....many not using....and a lot of time dedicated to cleaning & rearranging....after losing many things in hurricanes I never replaced what I lost and felt better not spending my days looking or cleaning my stuff but doing other productive things in my days and I like to move often and found it was easier when my kids got older that living with less was the best life for me and the benefits that come with it $😍$😍 and I dont let other peoples opinion of my lifestyle affect me... Mist people who do are not happy in their own lives Holiday blessings to you 💚🐾

Thank you for the tour I enjoyed it so much! I really look forward to your videos! You are very sweet!! My husband and I just finished building our third house. Was in it for Thanksgiving and all the boys will be here for Christmas! I am also a minimalist! We downsized this house to 1800 sq ft from our last home of 4600 sq ft. Being diagnosed with OCD, being a minimalist helps with the anxiety!! Hope you have a good night❤️

I enjoyed your video. It was really relaxing to listen to you talk and show us your home. You seem so humble and down to earth and it doesn't matter if we are forced to be minimalists or choose it whole heartedly, I believe it's good for the humane race and our souls. I'm going through the process to minimalize to feel more sane therefore I really admired your attitude and how you kept "your" interests alive ... plus ... how did "my cat" get in your apartment lol !! I really enjoyed your apartment tour Thank you for sharing. I grew up on a working farm dirt poor. We really ate what we grew be that in our gardens, fields or animals. We were taught to take care of not just what we had but the land and animal in our care. I not a minimalist but I try never to just ever go out and spend just to spend. I really enjoyed how you appreciate and are content with what you have. Thank you for sharing

You can still put the curtains up, they go with you. Just keep the old ones. Add some colorful throw pillows to your sofa. You can hang paintings and use the removable hooks, so damage to the walls. You can still be you, Make it your own....you have a really nice apartment, I'm sure she'll let you add a couple of things, as long as they can go with you, when you leave.

Thank you very much for your honest talks. My husband and I are empty-nesters and we built a 450 sq.ft. home with one bedroom and tiny bathroom . Since moving in with my partner 2 years ago I've decluttered everywhere, having stuff that isn't being used is my nightmare! In January we are redoing the kitchen ourselves at a low cost but I won't be shopping for new plates and kitchen items, I will keep all my different bits and pieces. I like to be eclectic.
