Have you ever tried finding the full ingredient-list for your cleaning products? It is almost impossible to find out what our cleaning products are made from which means that we have no power in choosing what’s best for us and our families.
Minimising the amount of cleaning products you use, and choosing better non-toxic and natural alternatives means a healthier and more eco-friendly cleaning routine.
In this video I share swaps you can make for a more minimalist, non-toxic and natural cleaning cabinet. This means that your home will be cleaner, the air in your home will be fresher, and you’re reducing the amount of toxins in your home!
I’ve been cleaning this way for the past 10 years and I now love cleaning. Me and my husband have a very simple cleaning routine which consists of very few cleaning products.
Do you have any questions? Leave them in the comments below!

Hi! 🫧 All the shots of toxic cleaning products we're filmed in the house where we are currently house sitting - meaning not my stuff, but very useful for this video! Do you have any questions about non toxic cleaning? 🧼

great advice, just a small but important clarification....Citric acid is preferable to vinegar precisely because vinegar pollutes and is dangerous for the marine ecosystem. In fact, vinegar contains a substance, acetic acid (which citric acid does not contain), which has been found to be highly polluting for aquatic organisms.

On another note, I'm a migraine sufferer and fragrance is a big trigger. I no longer can handle ANY scented candles. It's so hard going to other people's houses who are burning them. My husband will often discreetly ask them to put them out, and why, and of course they are more than happy to do it. And I don't feel embarrassed because I don't even know they talked about it. Reeds in oil, candles, plug-ins, very strong cleaning products (even hand soaps), clothing detergents, and more, can start a migraine. I'm a preschool teacher, and some of those kids come into the classroom in a cloud of fragrance from soaps, lotions, clothes detergents, hair products, and yes, even their parents' perfumes and colognes. My nose will run like crazy, and I end up with a headache. I can go on and on, but you get the point. It's hard living in a fragranced world when you're allergic to it :( I know there are many out there like me, but we never speak up because we don't want to impose on others.

hi there I have the exact same problem, but it is more of a sinus headache that may progress into a migrane if it was a really strong smell like wet paint but all the fragrances start me off, as you know the best method is avoid lol the best thing I ever did is start to wash my bed linen and clothes in fragrance free detergent. however if you do get a reaction to fragrance somewhere have some raw ginger root at home, then cut it very thinly and put it in a pint glass with boiling water, drink it when it cools down a bit, it is anti inflamitory and helps me heaps, you can drink it for days adding more water. If you have a really bad migraine add some hot pepper powder to the mix, this way isn't nice to drink but it will loosen more if you know what I mean.

While white vinegar and baking soda do help cleaning they are best used individually. Vinegar is an acid. Baking soda base.

I am almost 70 and have congenital COPD. The smells of chemicals can and does often trigger breathing episodes. I cant even shop near the candle, perfume, bar soap, or laundry soap eisles in the store. It is difficult if not impossible for me to go into some people's home because of smells. I have never used perfumes and even stay away from some essential oils because they are too smelly. This being said, I love a clean home and find that water is an excellent cleaning medium. I use natural soap to make water "wetter". All detergents do is break down the water's viscosity as does natural soap. I have started in the last few years using more vinegar and baking soda. Be careful not to use washing soda as it is highly alkaline and toxic. I do not use any soap or lotions on my skin. As I am an extremely fair skinned strawberry blonde, now grey, i was told to never wash with detergent as a child. I also only shower once or twice a week. I use bar hair soap for my hair and nothing else. Most people do not know that I am 2 months from 70, as I have few wrinkles. If my skin feels dry, i will dry massage it, releasing my own natural oils. I love your vlog. You are so easy to listen to, and so sincere. Continue sharing the word about veganism, minimalism and non-toxic cleanliness. Your 🇺🇲 Grandma. ❤❤❤😮😮

Thank you Grandma! 😄 The example you're setting is an inspiration. In our house we're experimenting with showering frequency at the moment! To be honest, we don't tend use many essential oils either because of how it feels that this restricts the breathing. Leaving things a lone and keeping things natural and neutral is making our bodies feel a lot happier and healthier 🙌

You give such practical advice, Saga, and I love the way you recommend switching things, and not just quitting things, because it is so much easier that way. Luckily for me, I love the smell of the vinegar spray. That smell is my definition of a clean smell, maybe because that’s what my mother used. Thank you for making the world better in such practical and ethical ways. 🙂

I use the wool balls and I love ❤️ them: my clothes are less wrinkly and they dry faster. I’m using a little vaporizer thing with essential oils - it smells great, the oil goes a long way, and it has an automatic shutdown you can program.

I love all of your tips! I just wanted to warn against using vinegar in the washing machine (or dishwasher) because it can actually break down the rubber seals and hoses, and eventually could cause leaks. I used to do this to disinfect pet items, but then read on many respectable sites (from plumbers, and also Consumer Reports), that we shouldn't do this on a regular basis. I didn't grow up with fabric softener (liquid or dryer sheets), and I don't use it as an adult. 48 years. Never have needed it, my clothes are perfectly comfy :)

Thank you for this inspirational video! So many of your videos I find so inspiring; I have been a vegetarian most of my life, since I was 12 years old-maybe I should instead consider veganism as an alternative, and a healthier way to eat. But this video made me realize how we tend to think it's just easier to buy the bad chemical-laden stuff, rather than taking the time to find, or make, our own...laziness is not any kind of an excuse for harming our waterways, air, and ourselves. Often I have bought cheaper body lotions and the like, just because of money. That is sooo bad for me! And sooo bad for the environment! Like our skin does, the Earth, in a sense "absorbs" these harmful chemicals. I am a traditional medicinals person, never taking any synthetic chemicals found in so many conventional medicines, so why would I ever use crud on my skin? I should know better, and do better. Thanks again! Oh, and I do think it might be great if you could make a video that can reveal more of the bad stuff behind cosmetics and things like that, and maybe then more people will open their eyes. One last thing for now...I think maybe you were talking about "cross ventilation" as the word/words you were looking for in English.😊💖

Hi Saga, thank you for sharing the link to this excellent video! I had actually watched it before, and it helped inspire me to throw my mascara in the garbage. I have never really worn makeup on my skin since I was a teenager and one of my big brothers teased me about it. Luckily, I do have a pretty nice complexion, even as I am aging. But, I have always worn mascara; while I have an amber brown eye color, my eyelashes are pretty long, but they are also pretty blonde. Like you, I also have what you called "see-through" Swedish eyebrows, being a strawberry blonde redhead, and part Swedish. So I have always said that my eyes without mascara "fade into oblivion." I finally decided like you that I simply want to be me-I think trying to be confident in who we are, rather than in what we think the world wants to see, well that's what's important...and letting our inner beauty come out is what counts the most! You are decades younger than I am, so bravo for you to find this understanding at such a young age! Oh, and what I hope to see you do is to show the "true colors" behind a lot of make-up, the cruelty that is behind so many cosmetics and beauty products of all kinds. Your "Be kind to animals" t-shirt is just what we should all be! 💖

Pardon the pun, but I'm going to be frank with you. I do not believe that technical knowledge in great degree is essential to understanding that we live in a highly toxic world. Her presentation is heartfelt, and does its best to reach out to others who may be blinded by all the commercialism related to buying these toxic products. The depth of Saga's caring for her fellow creatures, and the planet is what matters here. The Earth thanks her, I thank her, and I am sure that many others feel the same way. Your words speak from a place that is sad, as we should encourage others as they try to help a world in need. One might think you were a spokesperson for Monsanto or some such thing. Please take your negativity elsewhere, or better yet, I wish for you to learn to accentuate the positive.
