So you are saying your a free loader living from the profits of other hard working people. Abusing the the kindness of the church who receives it money from hard working people. And your friend who pays real money for his/ her land in which they must have to work hard for. Don’t say you step out in faith. That’s would be a disgrace to yourself and the book. You were lucky they let you stay 5 yrs. instead of helping yourself you probably overstayed your welcome and they made you leave. There is a difference between free loading and charity.

imagine being fully employed, living this way for 10-20+ years, you'd have an absolute fortune saved up.
@Alphacentauri8195 жыл бұрын
Anony mous but isn’t that against what a lot of these people are about? A lot of them don’t care about the fortune, but about the living and adventure, simplicity and freedom...those don’t exist with many oh the regular full employment. They’re often trying to get out of that rat race, or avoid it all together...a fortune is a different meaning to them. A fortune is this life and enough to get by, maybe a little more...many don’t value the $$fortune the way a lot of others do.

Christina Reynolds but you can also look at from the point that modernization has developed an enormous amount of things that we never had before that probably take more lives than save them. I agree with your point that things have been created to save many, many lives but would all of it have been necessary if we didn’t create even more things that took many more lives?

There are inexpensive camping showers that can be purchased from outdoors stores. You fill them with water, hang them up, stand underneath and shower away. You can warm the water before pouring into the shower container. You could hang them in a shower that is not hooked to water or get an inexpensive outdoor loo-tent and hang it in there for your showers.

You can build a simple 2x4 platform and have a 20 gallon tank with a small showerhead and put curtain around it and a shallow round bucket to step into with a quick dry mat in it and outside it, dump the soap water outside on the dirt and shower under the sun. Viola shower.

@safelyheartfelt81428 жыл бұрын
Another really inspiring alternative housing video! Something that really strikes me about this one is how conducive it is to spending a lot of time outdoors. It's like more of a camping feeling than a typical "I live in a house" feeling. It takes up so much less space (and money) than a house would so that means more room on the property for just open-air building-free nature - and growing food, and animals to roam. Or bonfires or whatever folks wanna do outside. Also forces them to be more minimalist with their belongings which is a great thing cause loved ones and activities and experiences are more meaningful than a bunch of high-maintenance belongings. That's cool they sometimes don't bother with showering at home and use the gym for that instead though would need to weigh out the cost-savings of that. I can't really imagine a family with kids enjoying this, but for one low-maintenance single or happy couple who values cost-saving, nature, minimalism, travel - sounds awesome. Curious to hear more about cost + options for finding legal places in the US to park it other than RV parks and certain farms.

An elevated water barrel with a square frame and a tarp pointed in to the top of the barrel from above (small hole) and you will catch rain water and morning due, put a fine charcoal filter on the barrel and hook it up to the water inlet, if you elevate it above the window you wont even need a pump, gravity will take care of it for you, you can use that water for washing/showering and if you add a UV filter in to the mix, drinking too. I lived in a caravan/camper trailer for a month, it is surprising how fast you adapt and realize how little space you actually need, good video!

It depends on how it looked when you bought it and how much work it needed... It needs some paint but overall it's a nice camper I think.. My boyfriend and I just got a camper for free but so far we put over $3,000 into it.. It has water damage and needs almost everything replaced.. I think we will be spending at least $1-2,000 more so it's decent to use.. So it will be a $5,000 investment.. But it's better than spending around $16,000 for a new one.. It's going to look so cool when it's done... Cant wait!

A HUGE HUGE advantage to living in a travel trailer like this is that you do not need a building permit. You can skip a lot of bureaucratic red tape. You also do not have to pay ten thousand bucks plus for a septic system. (Just have a composting toilet and be very clean with your gray water) So if you buy land in an area that does not have zoning restrictions against living in an RV, the building permit people cannot say anything about living in an RV (or any other type of vehicle) because it does not require a building permit, it is outside of their control, they cannot say you do not have an occupancy permit. Taxes are paid for a vehicle not a building.

Land is crazy cheap if you're willing to live off grid. About 2k to 5k per ACRE. :O Yeah, and usually owner financed with less than $500 down. The significant costs are: solar system (1k), septic system (5k which may be required by ordinance), drilling and creating a well (6k to 20k) but the nice thing is you can usually take your time and it must be so freeing to own your space like that. Even in small towns, you don't quite have the same experience of being totally independent and off grid. The defining factor in a lot of these videos is a sweet and kind partner to share the lifestyle with. Most wouldn't make it (or want to) solo.

I envy this lifestyle . City life sucks in so many ways . Take bad neighbors for instance . A lot of people today are just out & out bad . They don't sleep at night and they make a lot of noise and become offended and combative when asked to keep the noise down & allow other people to sleep . Neighbors often play loud music that you don't like . Compare that with the milieu of the nature sounds of Chickens & crickets & birdsongs along with the smell of soil and compost creates a healing , tranquilizing salve that the city sadly lacks .

I've been watching similar videos like this off and on for years on youtube. So I'm surprised at the negative comments. I suppose it's a knee jerk reaction from people who've been so conditioned to think owning some over sized and over priced home in suburbs is actually a smart goal to achieve, I did too until I realized how foolish it is to define yourself by your crown molding and granite countertops, and so afraid that if you do ONE thing your boss doesn't approve of that if you lose your job then your house of cards falls. Me personally, I'd rather have a roof over my head that's paid for so my money can go to more meaningful things rather than the latest BMW I can lease that will be considered old in a year lol....

I suggest you get a 2.5 gallon water container with a spout for washing dishes and hands. It’s much easier than pouring from a gallon jug. Walmart has them for just a few bucks. They also have a handle on top making them easier to carry. I love what you've done with the place - so cute.

I liked just about everything in this video. I’m looking into buying a camper to live in. I’m looking for great ideas and tips for space and styling. I’m not really concerned about minimalism, but my main reason for wanting to do this is to save money and pay off debt. It’s awesome that they paid $1800 for their camper. That’s just about how much I can afford. I have a little less than a year to find one. Thanks for the inspiration.

Wow, there are so many negative comments on here for no good reason. If you hate this lifestyle or people that live it...why are you watching the video adding to the views? Lol. It's quite silly. I'm so confused as to why anyone would even care how someone else lived as long as they weren't harming anyone or anything. If you rather clock in for 30-40-50 years of your life, taking a one week vacation every year, being miserable, by all means, do that. No one is hassling you for doing that. If someone finds a way of life that makes them happy and doesn't affect your way of life, I don't get why it would bother you so much. The only thing I can think of it jealously. Maybe you're not jealous of the lower income, or small space. But maybe you're jealous because you have zero freedom. Maybe you're jealous of the fact you have to wake up at 5am to get your kids ready for school. Maybe you're pissed because you've only seen 4 or 5 states in your life. Maybe you're envious because you don't possess the courage it takes to venture out and change your lifestyle. Maybe you're trapped in the lifestyle you have because you have student loans, a car note or two, and a mortgage and a house full of materialistic things that don't actually improve your life. Maybe you wake up every morning and say "Fuck this.". Is this way too long for a youtube comment? Absolutely. But some of you are bitter as hell and it's not a good look.

All couples should do this for 6 months before they get married. It doesn't matter if they like this type of living or not. They will either get to know each other intimately (if they are meant to be),or hate each other and part ways.
@gordthor53517 жыл бұрын
SW Sweetie Statistics are often useless if all the variables aren't considered. There are many factors at play,but the obvious one is that people who decide to live with a partner may also be more likely to divorce if they are unhappy with the relationship after taking vows, since they may have less conservative views of marriage. The most conservative are going to be influenced by their strong religious values,which many even prohibit living together,so they have no choice anyhow. These same people will be equally compelled to hang onto their marriage (due to religious taboos of divorce) even if they are absolutely miserable. I'm sure the results would be different if it was changed to "happily married". Regardless of that,my example was MUCH different than living in a spacious home where one could retreat to a different room to cool down after any argument,or even have their own space at will. Only true love can keep 2 people together when they are cooped up in such a small space. You can't get away from anything you may not like.You have to accept your partner as they are,or it is not going to last long. It really is the perfect test.Mind you if everyone did that,the marriage rate would only be about 20% XD.

So interesting! I wondered about the insulation in an area with a harsh winter and summer - very clever solution. You didn't mention the cost of the land and how you get electricity. Utilities and land costs are some of my big concerns with small living. Could you tell us more?
@erikadowdy6868 жыл бұрын
CheapandGreen Ive heard marine batteries are the best to use for electricity needs. U can buy a solar panel and converter to charge the battery.

I see a large house in the background. And another, very modern, building in the background also. I suspect they are well off (+$150k/yr). When Winter Time comes they live in the "Big" House. I think most people would be surprised to find out how they really live. I grew up in the Northeast and that 1969 Camper will kill you in a Colorado winter.

Love this! But for showering you can easily make a rainwater system for less than $100 and you should also get a solar camping shower as it warms the water from the sun and super easy to use indoor or out. Having one or both those things you’ll never have to travel to a gym to shower. (60 gallon rain water barrels can cost as low as $38)

For $1800.00, it can just be a great adventure. One suggestion is to keep the weeds away from the home some distance for fire clearance. Especially since they are growing under the coach as well. Enjoy your cute little home.

Thanks for showing a set-up that most people could afford and accomplish. I love the lush tiny houses that cost as much as a full-sized home but I will never be able to afford those. I bought a $1300 travel trailer (it needs some work but nothing that I can't figure out) and 2 acres of land. It isn't as hard as many people think, it's peaceful and less stressful than paying rent on an apartment that I can't afford. We need more support and less legal challenges to living sustainably and within our means (and can help us redefine what a "living wage" can be.)

I guess there is no problem with local ordinances prohibiting a trailer with no other living facilities on the property - neighbors might complain if they're snobs. Really like the stackable insulation blocks - skirting would help also to avoid cold floors. Open floor plan is way more visually appealing and functional then trying to stuff too much in a small space.
@LaurieFloodTeacher8 жыл бұрын
I think it behooves the posters of the video to find out for us what county in CO allows them to live in their RV like this, so we can look it up for ourselves. Otherwise, it is just click bait in my opinion, because they rarely show us in these positive videos where this is considered legal.
@davestennes3058 жыл бұрын
Skirting would be dirt cheap - any waterproof construction material, eg. wood panels or vinyl siding - nothing fancy for this older trailer. I remember spending one full season near flagstaff in a class C motorhome and the floor was crunchy :) - heat was stratified toward the ceiling and the floor was very cold. With the skirting it would also reduce water pipes freezing. This couple carry there water in bottles so not in issue for them.

there is a lot of place like this, ive bin living in a 1979 american clipper for 7 years up in nor cal. i spent most of my life growing up in rv, trails or campers. you just need to find land away from urban area's. just dont make the mistake some make. if you move in the woods, must learn to live like the locals. locally we had some problems. locals and those migrating from the city. bumped heads, things turn violent. some pulled from there cars and beaten in the streets, arsen, booby traps. we like our tree's, we like to live more with the environment. the others just destroyed everything. cement with houses packed in as tight as possible till the forest fire. this is fire country, you cant have house packed in like that. no room for defence.

I'm amazed at how some in the comment section think that simply having kids is advancing the human race. The world is over populated as it is. We are all here for a reason and accumulating wealth isn't one of them. Live and let live :-)
@robertcetrone1227 жыл бұрын
your comment is one of the self taught "opinions" I learned years ago. Isnt it thought provoking to the masses? U fortunately not. Why? Do the ratings math. We're on an obscure comment site vs. mainstream media TV show commercials which have historically been successful at bending so called "adults" minds to chose "popular" products. The fact is, these products parent companies enjoy tens of millions of dollars of profit by using compli ated psychology to induce the public (adults?) to waste valuable cash. Image is everything....that's another old saying, but the devil is in the details as to why so many old sayings keep being proven over and over again....ooops!!!!!!..I never have seen a 10 o'clock "news" segment covering this obvious reality yet....no, im not surprised.....and FYI, my past accomplishments cost me huge dollars, and I knew it day after week after month...for over 20 years. No way I can cover all the reasons in text. old saying..walk in someone's shoes....this is part of the reason for my success, whi h is polar opposite to big business marketing strategies.
