I see you have a new apprentice there doug , maverick helping you out , checking up on the quality control . Cleaning up around you too , well done little guy . You have to pass on the skills to your children , its all part of parenting , I did it with my sons , three picked up the skills really well , one teaches brickwork in the construction colleges now , two of them can lay their hands to any given tasks , the youngest , not so much , very skilled at mma though junior champion of the north east england at two weights , anyway , your doing an excellent job there , been watching your mudding skills there , you seem to have the flow there . And the closet and workspace fits in perfectly , minimalism is the way to be , no clutter exactly right . You have a lot of skills , I can see that for sure , im exactly the same . Learnt a lot of it from my grandad from a very early age , and carried it on all through my life , keep up the exceptional skills , your going to have an excellent home in the end , well done so far . Ashley has a smile a mile wide , so good to see you all beaming , total respect to your family , keep going your doing just fine . .

Loved watching your son's intense interest in what you are doing. It was cute watching him move from drill/screw as you were doing that. If you add on a bedroom to the house, he might even be big enough by that time to help you. What I would say about closet doors is that their job is to help keep your clothing clean when they're hung inside. Judging from the size of the closets (width wise), you likely won't have an abundance of clothing in them anyway and they'll get washed often enough to not have to worry about them getting dirty while hanging there. We've got too many clothes at our house and some things hang in the closet for a long time before being used again. Another consideration with closets is that they are deep enough for the clothing. Hanging jackets is a big consideration for that. The bedroom looks good-sized even after the closet has been added. Good job as usual! You'll be able to use your bedroom real soon now.

Looks good folks, It will be so nice to have a bedroom again, If nothing else, its a place to just shut the door and take a breath. I too have not had closet doors for about 20 years. I found that a flat twin size sheet works great as a curtain, Unpick the ends of the wider header and run the spring rod thru that, Washes well and you can change out as you wish and as a bonus, still a flat sheet.

Doug, you should try adding some water to small batches compound to thin down the mud so it's easier to work with, less cracking. Try using a tee shirt scrap that is wet and wrung out good. Let the mud set up for 5 minutes and smooth it out with the rag. It saves a lot of time sanding and less clean up. My brother, a construction worker, taught me those tricks. A great channel to learn a lot of great stuff is "The Handyman."

Sponge works great too

After having done years of drywall in my own homes, family's homes, and friends homes I will say you are doing a great job. My only unsolicited advice is the mesh drywall "tape" is a lot nicer. It doesn't suck the moisture out of the mud too quickly leading to cracks like the paper tape does.

I really like the closets with the desk area in the middle! That is something I would love. In my living room instead of having a big tv and a computer desk taking up room, I put my two bookshelves with a matching desk in the middle. When I am watching tv I roll my chair out of the way. To be honest most of the time I sit at my comfy desk chair to watch my shows :)

Great job! I've been watching your videos as they come out, but restraining myself from posting on each of them a "good job" cuz that would be so repetitive and stalkerish... lol My farm in Spokane had open closets... and it was an ancient home, the closets were probably done roughly 100 yr ago. I loved them, did not even hang curtains on them. One could though... used but in good condition sheets are cheap at yard sales or Goodwill type places and are very easy to turn into curtains. Your little Supervisor seemed well pleased with the progress and quality of work.
@paulaboynton82995 жыл бұрын
I don't like closet doors either. I've been toying with the idea of using a few closet doors to make a headboard. Many years ago I made a headboard out of a door, I mounted it horizontally, and since it was a raised panel door, we had to trim some off the bottom to make it symmetrical. Repurposing is creative and fun. And frugal!

You did a great job! Just because you go slow and mud (I think that is the right term) in thin layers doesn't mean you are not good at doing drywall. I v'e seen the pro's, they go fast & the end result is often not as good as yours. If it isn't your favorite thing to do I can't fault you for that. We don't have to like the actual tasks we have to do. The important thing is doing things we don't enjoy & not putting it off. There is a lot of merit in that. I always enjoy your videos because it is so fun to see the progress and the transformations! God Bless.

I am subscribed and I do watch! I enjoy watching remodeling, building and decorating. My ex and I redid a cabin in the mid seventies. I found out then that I hated drywall work. I liked painting and flooring though. My shoulders still ache thinking about drywalling and mudding, ewww. I'm really looking forward to seeing the decorating stage of your remodel. Glad that I stumbled across your videos before you moved to the schoolhouse property and that you all introduced us to Bobblehead Homestead Jeff. Grumpy and Wlldberry appear to be thriving thete with Jeff as are Tundra and Beau with you guys. I'm looking forward to the next upload!
