Hi Vera. Everyday I look forward to a morning cup of coffee and just sitting down next to my cat and petting her :) It is very calming. Also, if I need inspiration or additional common I look for one of your videos. You have made such a difference in my life. Keep doing what you're doing and know that you make a difference in the lives of your followers. 😊

Wow! That is quite the question actually. 🤔 I stopped for a moment and looked around, discarding my first, shallow thought. Blue skies, warm weather, a gentle breeze, coffee, second breakfast (the elevenses as the hobbits say), physical activity of my choosing. I could go on. If we don't think every day is awesome we're thinking wrong. 😀

I decided to have less things, less books, less clothes, less stuff on my furniture, less, handbags, less shoes, etc. And I decided to have more of what makes me happy and is really useful for my mental health: art journals. I have lots and lots of them (because I use them) and I make them myself with recycled paper and fabrics and I buy the minimum to make them, such as glue, gesso, paint, etc. Having less stuff and more art related things helps me to have more time to enjoy art, which is great for my mental health, specially when times are a bit dark. ♥️💙💗💚💛🧡💜🖤❤️

I go for a long walk in the early part of the day without taking my phone. Its amazing all of the beauty you miss when you drive everywhere. This has given me a greater appreciation for nature and stillness. I became a plant parent a few years back and I like to spend time taking care of my plants. Plant care helps me to decompress, be patient with myself and to slow down. Mini clutters and tidying is something else I do when feeling overwhelmed. I don't see it as work but I view it as a way to show my home that I appreciate it for all that it does for me.

So good to remember the basics of peace. Another thing I like to do is get outside. Take nothing with me, except a bottle of water, and just get into nature where there is nothing but green and birds and quiet. I am fortunate enough to be not too far from the ocean and that is a real treat.

I weened myself off checking the news in the morning by doing Wordle / Quordle on my phone instead. My husband and I always go back to bed with a cup of tea as a slow start and he looks at the news on his phone so I needed to find an alternative. It helps me wake up nicely and often I ask my husband if I'm stuck or show him the answer and we often end up laughing together. I also use colouring books, journalling and language learning. I'm learning Chinese and find drawing the characters surprisingly meditative. It feels more guilt-free as a pastime since it is practical too. If all else fails, I go for a walk!

My method of of calming is gardening. Now in Central Texas we are experiencing brutal heat, so I water plants early in the morning before the worst of the heat. Then I look at seed and gardening catalogs to see what I will plant in the fall. Seeds are cheaper than plants, and it's fun to see them grow. Currently I am collecting seeds from annuals past their prime, so I won't have to buy those seeds again.

Hi Vera👋 Thank you so much for posting this video as many people (myself included) experience these feelings of being overwhelmed or lacking motivation from time to time. Having a decluttered home and lifestyle is so beneficial when these 'moods' hit, as I always feel grateful that at least I dont have huge amounts of physical clutter to worry about! However I can still feel derailed by other things (family issues, worry about the future etc) so it helps to have some coping strategies in place, such as those you mention here. Often the last thing we feel like doing on days like this is going for a walk, however, if there is somewhere safe and quiet nearby this can work wonders. Alternatively, sitting by an open window or doing some stretching can also help. I like to escape into a book, it is helpful to have a few in mind for times like these- I find mysteries or psychological thrillers particularly good (provided there is no violence or gore) I have learned to accept that there are days when I have bags of physical and emotional energy and everything seems to flow BUT there are also days when even doing just one thing (such as taking out the rubbish or even making the bed) feels like a huge accomplishment. I imagine many people are the same but don't admit it because they feel ashamed. I think one of the main reasons I choose to live a minimalist lifestyle is to stay on top of my anxiety. Living a calm, peaceful, mindful and uncluttered life is so beneficial because there is so much less to clean, maintain and organise 🌿 Finally, making a list can also help prioritise chores, and ticking them off one by one feels rewarding and stops them buzzing around your mind ! You are looking incredibly healthy Vera- I think it must be the green tea 🍵🦋💗

I think we might be twins. 😅😅 (Except I’m prob worse Bcuz I’ll take the violence and gore along with the psych thriller stuff. For me (prob sounds bad or nuts but I actually find murder docs relaxing. Like Forensic Files or such lol. But you hit the nail on it Bcuz what my mind needs is a good “puzzle” and a mystery helps me focus my mind on whatever the current mystery is and apply my over active analyzing to that rather than spin all around with my problems constantly). Almost like “anxiety management” just like maybe banging your head to angry rock is pretty good “anger management.” 😅😅

When I feel overwhelmed or stressed, I find creative pursuits help me get present (I talk about this in detail in my The Way I See It podcast episode, A Creative Lifeline) such as playing piano, playing in my art journal, or drawing a doodle. I can get lost the in the world of color, design, and beautiful music. I also enjoy a walk and listen to my favorite podcast, Art Juice. It is also helpful to pray/meditate, especially when I have a lot of my mind that I need to hash out. I appreciate your honesty and willingness to share where the rubber meets the road for you. It’s exciting to me when other show how creativity makes a difference in the way they feel. :) Gentleness is so key, especially when we’re tired and overwhelmed. Small steps. News and social media - I couldn’t agree more. I realised back in lockdowns that the more I am updated to the current situation around the world, the more anxious I am. When I cut back watching news and stopped looking at social media, I got more relaxed and just informed myself with basics guidelines and carried on. Procreate also helped me relaxed even by just filling the page with colours and erasing them afterwards, very cathartic.

I have stopped watching TV, and I am trying to limit my exposure to the news to just catching headlines unless something really important happens. What I really need is at least two days where no one calls me. People think I am outgoing because I'm always available if they need to talk (and I like them). I am really quite introverted and would prefer that my friends not call everyday. Today I reached critical mass with noise...just voices, but very annoying, and I accomplished very little of what I had planned for ME. Maybe I need to designate "no call" days. Your video did relax and calm me as I did a few deep breaths. Thanks Vera!

Hi thank you for contacting me. Not that I really forgot you it's just you know how life gets in the way LOL. However I had spine surgery six weeks ago and I'm still healing I have six more weeks or more to go before I'm totally healed. As a result of that I am unable to do pretty much anything no bending, twisting, lifting, all that kind of stuff. As a result my already messy apartment is getting so much worse. I'm trying so hard not to get upset about it, but it's starting to get worse. I've never really decluttered my place and so I'm basically starting with a dirty slate. I'm trying to do deep breathing exercises and word searches and games and stuff like that to try to just ignore my mess. I know there's no reason to push myself I live by myself and I have little help. So I just need to quit beating myself up because there isn't anything I can do about it. I really liked your video and again thank you for contacting me.

Surgery takes a lot out of you and it sounds like you are doing the right thing by focusing on rest, relaxation and recovery ⚘ Only once you have fully recovered physically should you attempt to begin decluttering, however if you find your mind becoming occupied with the clutter around you then this may be the opportune time to draw up some lists for when you are able to clear things ! You could make a list for each room of the absolute essentials to keep (such as bedroom- bed- wardrobe- chest of drawers- nightstand- lamp) followed by a list of 'want to keep' such as 2 sets of bedlinen, X amount of clothing items etc. Whilst stuck at home you will hopefully recognize which items you could absolutely do without and look forward to clearing these for either donating or recycling. Sending best wishes for a safe recovery 💐🦋💗

Hi Vera, for me, a day that worries me, passes much easier if I find a quiet corner and reconnect with myself. How do I do this? First of all, I breathe controlled until I calm my mind. Then I go back to different stages of my childhood when I felt safe and I go back to the happy places. I look forward to seeing what made me happy, how I enjoyed a day of vacation from morning to evening, various pleasant things. The duration of the exercise depends on how overwhelmed I feel that day, but after that I feel much freer, more confident and ready to face the challenges!

Your video was a great relief and so smart. I found myself applying your logic to politics and the news media as well as I listened. As you said, It seems like people give more respect to newer and more complicated solutions.I guess this is what they call progress..ha but often it is going backwards as nothing real good gets done or moves in the right direction. a lot of this complicated push is seen in ‘clever’ marketing also. In the end it often makes us feel like the answers lie elsewhere and not within ourselves..Thank you

This is a raw relatable topic for sure! Yes, I believe that we got to be aware of when life is living through us instead of us living life... that normally happens when we are overwhelmed for many different reasons and a tad overestimulated... one just wants to stop the world for a while and just be! The news and the media, are number one culprits for sure, more so for the impact they are having on people. Then we have people that are so hooked on the news and media, that when one interacts with them... it just projects on you and if you are highly sensitive, which is wonderful... in these cases the wisest thing to do is to acknowledge their impact on us and if no changes are made, then we got to look for that which nurtures us, nourishes our mind and body... like fresh water to a thristy soul!! I love to indulge in reading a book of a subject i love or enjoy... or do something more natural and creative, like painting, photography, journaling, sketching... something that is more focused on good, a positive impact and addition to myself and those around us. I guess that is why when I am not in my "good grace" and because it is difficult to have someone willing or open to listen to you and make the effort to understand what i may already find hard to explain but crave to do and be understood, I tend to withdraw and try to express myself in a more artistic way... it is normaly through music, poetry, story telling...I think it is great to know where and what we can go to when we are so aware of how we are, learn from it and we can be of blessing to others when we sense and feel their state... becasue we do! :D Overall...even the down sides have some good UPS to help ourselves and help others!! Thank you for making this video, I surely related to you and well... let us keep it up, sweet, simple, peaceful and beautifully harmonious

A couple things I've found to avoid overwhelm: 1. Brain dump. Get everything out on paper to clear your head then highlight 3 items. It will help you be more productive by clearing your mind and help you to focus where you need to use your energy. 2. Limit or quit caffeine. This one is important if you are Highly sensitive but also if your experiencing anxiety, overthinking, or irritability i highly suggest trying it. The first few days can be rough but it completly fixed all of those above problems for me plus my digestion is much better. I feel like my younger self again and i am so much calmer, happier and more chill. 🌞 Another thing i frequently do is use my fitbit timer or phone timer set it for 15 minutes and clean in a room. This somehow takes all the overthinking of where to start away because it doesnt matter where you start just clean for 15 minutes. It is a great mind trick to get stuff done.

Frankly....stay sane. 😅😅 Exactly. Sometimes if you’ve got past trauma (could be abuse or other things), it can be a daily battle. Sometimes just a bit of emotional disregulation. Other times falling into CPTSD when you get a trigger. A lot of times they call this hyper vigilance state. It’s like your adrenals go haywire when you get a trigger. Past and present emotional reality gets a little blurry (or a lot blurry at times). I guess for a long time tho, it’s like you’re just waiting very tensely for the other shoe to drop. Minimalism has really helped me so much tho. I can now have these regular routines. I can set my space up to where I know what to expect and in ways that extremely reduce overwhelm or upsets or feeling like it’s all chaos. Well anyways. With all that said. These things really can make a HUGE diff with that fine line of staying sane. And Bcuz there is def a mind/body connection with trauma and stress tho. It takes work to not let it stay “trapped” in our bodies as well as putting our minds in endless loops and spins. We have to find ways to “release” such things Bcuz they literally could make us mentally and physically sick. What works for me. Hmm. Well I don’t always do it like I prob should, but I just have to take little “day trips” and get out of the house for awhile. Like a break. I try to pay more attention to the onset of any extra stress or bad feelings or overwhelm etc. I guess really it’s more like being a “cat mom” and my never ending pet mom to do list. It’s rather like constant “farm chores” or like being a mom to a few toddlers lol. I have to get my physical eyes (and ears) off of anything related to my mom or house care duties or else I tend to do the workaholic thing and then I start to feel either overwhelmed or resentful. Even if it’s just something like going to grab a coffee and just sit somewhere in my car and maybe play some music and watch whatever I see around me (like go to a park or just go people watch etc. lol). I pretty much have to go get out just to make my mind stop trying to think about what needs doing or what didn’t get done or what I wish was done or how to improve this or that or just be stuck there with whatever cat wants whatever from me all day long. Etc. Well that got long again. Lol. And I really will just go out to eat sometimes pretty much just to not have to deal with any kind of food prep or clean up or having to fix it myself. And also like before. Just to be able to sit there and chill and goof off and for there to be no “duties” I have to deal with for just awhile. I find that I’m pretty well recharged again once I go just do only “me” for awhile and nothing really seems as difficult or overwhelming after I take my little siestas. Well writing also. (As anyone can see I really prob go on way too much lol). But even if it’s a thousand ideas, I feel better getting them out of my head and putting them onto paper (or in my phone notes lol). In my head they just stay all jumbled up and get to be like an avalanche at times and yes...cluttered and disorganized when they stay and add up inside of my head. 😅😅

I really appreciated the window of tolerance. So helpful to know! A little (sneaky) suggestion/comment/idea? :) You’d asked what it is we have most difficulty letting go of. I thought about it for a while and realized it’s: Notebooks. They are THE HARDEST for me. I enjoy writing and letting go of them is difficult. However, I am moving to a different country and it would be great if I could downsize…
@SimpleHappyZen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much and congrats on moving to a different country, that must be so exciting! For me, I just recycle notebooks that are filled up. Felt a little weird in the beginning, now it's something I've become used to. Out with the old, in with the new :) But definitely do what feels best for you personally.

Very accessible you can link some of your topics to philosophy and psychology concepts which by being conscious and mindful of oneself is as you said the most helpful ❤
@crystalneel7482 жыл бұрын
In these philosophies you are only as strong as yourself is capable of mustering up or your closest external resource. I can’t imagine depending on myself~there is so much pride in that kind of thinking. In Christ we live as dependents on Him as our internal compass. The reality of the Holy Spirit within is the power to overcome anything & is outside of frail human strength. The facts is that we are dependent beings designed to be led by a master. So we either rely on our creator or ourselves which is to actually rely on satan in one form or another. There is no such thing as neutrality~to even believe such is self pride which is the downfall of Lucifer who became satan bc of it. I’m overwhelmed as I look & listen to a world & generation who is totally lost & confused & unaware of these basic concepts including eternal life. I’m trying to launch a KZbin ministry channel but am praying about how to even start & what to say first. I agree with a general goal of material minimalism as we should not be too attached to the things of this world that will all rot in the end. We are to focus on eternal things & where we will live after this earth is destroyed or our individual time here is up. So I like the focus on decluttering which you have nailed! But let’s get serious about the deeper things of life that go with minimalism such as Jesus as the Christ & only way to our creator God. Else what are we are even doing?

These are important tips to help us; thank you. When I'm overwhelmed or very tired I break my tasks into smaller steps. If decluttering or organising, you can do a particular amount you can and have the items and organisers in one area so when you return to it, its easy. Did you and your boyfriend see the tour de france - we watched it - Denmark looks so beautiful.

Thanks so much Marieta, welcome to the channel!! :) I have the iPad pro with Apple pencil 2, but it's definitely important to do some research before purchasing them, to see which options best fits your needs and budget. I draw in Procreate, which, if I'm correct, only workd with Apple. And also, not all iPads are compatible with the pencil. So definitely do some googling first :)
