Bio-oil and Palmers have been the power pregnancy duo for generations of women in my family! I personally also love the Eucerin Skin Calming Cream (my mother-in-law introduced me to this one!) and added it to my post shower moisturizing routine. I use the Bi- oil all over (this stuff helps with everything from scarring to melasma), then I go over everywhere with the Eucerin to add moisture, and then use the Palmers on my belly, chest, knees, elbows, feet, and anywhere else that needs extra love. My skin is unbelievable, and I've had scars from years before pregnancy start fading. Definitely keeping this routine up postpartum.

Hiring a doula was my essential. My husband really appreciated the partnership when I was going through labor since she had a lot of comfort and pain management techniques to allow me to have the unmedicated birth experience that was important to me.

As a mom who nursed all three of my babies I would definitely recommend a few nursing bras. And disposable nursing pads. You will definitely need them!

Agree with all the things you’re not using! Funny enough for my first pregnancy I saw a prenatal chiropractor and drank so much red raspberry leaf tea. I had a super long hard labor ending in C section. My second pregnancy I did neither of those things and chose to just chill and had a smooth vaginal birth! Maybe unrelated but honestly seems like some things are hyped up for pregnancy that make zero to little difference and cause stress trying to do all the things.

Tums were on my essentials when I was pregnant, too. My son came out basically bald, so I don't know what all that heartburn was about. 😂 I had my son almost 17 years ago and I remember keeping things super simple. There are so many more products out there now and I can't imagine how overwhelming it is to choose what is useful and what isn't. Great video as usual! 🩷

Back in the early 2000s, I thrifted and got new to me, baby essentials and maternity clothes. The only thing I got new is carseat and crib mattress. I used cloth diapers, too. They didn't even have pregnancy pillows when I was pregnant with my first. My second pregnancy, I had a set of twins. I swear twins were in the water in Hawaii because I joined a twin club and there was a lot of families with multiples. And we interchanged everything. Now my three are 21, 19, and 19. I love seeing the minimal outlook on pregnancy essentials and baby stuff.

You will for sure make a video just like this after baby comes!! Most baby gear and items you don’t actually need and for the amount of time that certain items would be used, baby outgrows them so fast! So my advice to you is to think about the things that you think YOU will actually need to take care of baby and don’t just purchase something bc everyone says you need it! That will look different for you than it did for me. For example, I never needed a baby changing table or station. I kept a small travel pad that folds up nearby me with some diapers and wipes in a basket and I would change my babies wherever I was (couch, bed, floor) and it worked for me!

We have a lot of the same must-haves! However, I read that long term usage of Tums is not a bandaid, so I took Prilosec until I gave birth. My pregnancy must-haves this time were: - A Perelel subscription! - The bbhugme pregnancy pillow - bio oil - Yoga ball and mat (I am not supportive of chiropractors) - Kindred Bravely nursing bras, compression socks, and bamboo maternity tees. I needed the compression socks after 34 weeks - Blanqi pregnancy leggings and bike shorts - Prilosec, Colace and sitz bath (iykyk)

The belly band is nice in the last couple weeks of your third trimester when the baby is super heavy and if you’re carrying low. I could see how it’s not helpful if you carry high or if you’re not near the very end. But let me tell you the baby grows A LOT in the last couple weeks of pregnancy and you’ll feel it for sure, & you might be whistling a different tune 🤣 But I definitely could’ve gone without if I didn’t have one. Was nice though. My ESSENTIAL was a comfy pair of shoes to wear around the house. Once I was heavier in the last month of pregnancy my feet started to feel bruised if I didn’t wear comfy sneakers all day ❤️

Thanks for sharing! Could totally see that being helpful. I guess we’ll see 😅 And I feel that on the shoes!! I’ve definitely noticed myself wearing my slippers a lot more often lately 🤍🤍

Yes, I’ve also found the best maternity wear is just thrifting a bigger size and making sure they have some stretch. Might check out those leggings though.

Essentials include water, prenatal vitamins, healthy diet, cut down on caffeine, comfortable clothing (maternity leggings are amazing) pregnancy pillow (I wish I could have tried the one that you are using!) Tums 100% & moisturizer for the belly, bum, breasts and hips! Keep it simple & comfortable ☺️ towards the end of pregnancy I did enjoy drinking raspberry leaf tea!

I didn't buy maternity clothes for my first pregnancy but by the second I was showing show much sooner. I also wore my maternity shirts postpartum for about 3 months. Also a belly band was ESSENTIAL to my second pregnancy!

Pregnancy must have for me: nap during work lunch break and nap after work 🤣 I’ve been extra tired lately and have needed the extra rests to function. I used to have many habits before pregnancy, but now I prefer sleeping over any of those.

I've always been taught that chiropractors are quacks. Also sports bras worked great for me during breastfeeding. The pressure they put on my helped to stop letdowns or leaks. But you'll want some nursing pads. When you're nursing and experience a letdown, you'll leak on whatever side the baby is not latched on.

Bio oil was my number one must have during pregnancy and early post partum, it doesn't clog the pores, deeply moisturizes, plus it smells heavenly. I tried a few other oils and moisturizers, none compare. As for sleep support, I just used a regular pillow to support my belly, I couldn't justify spending money into something I'd only use a couple of months, never missed having a pregnancy specific pillow. As for a belly band, I didn't use one either, until the last month of pregnancy. I needed it then, cause I'm very petite, my belly was so huge that I was constantly in a lot of pelvic pain, so my midwife made me wear one and it gave me so much relief. (Our baby girl went 10 days past due date and was 9.8lbs...quite big for my tiny body. ).

Thank you so much for this! At 13 weeks now and I’m overwhelmed by advertisements of things “you need” have not bought any of them but ready for lotion for belly and have looked at the pillow you showed def don’t want clutter in our home due to being such a short time! Excited to see a baby essentials/not need and nursery too!!

Loved this thank you! I'm due in 5 weeks. I didn't buy a pillow but just stuff my body with guest pillows it works fine :) I invested in a good pair of maternity pants for work (with a big blazer it always looked like a suit), for the most time I needed magnesium for growing pains, and my water bottle with a straw is now my favorite to drink at night because I don't have to sit up. And I bought some crocs slippers. Love them for when I go swimming easy to put on and take off. And I will be needing them for birth to walk around in the hospital. My hospital won't let you walk around in socks. I plan to use them as garden slippers after birth.

Totally agree with your non-essentials. I think the attitude to wait and see if the need arises, is a good one, both for pregnancy and baby. The industry is out to profit from the insecurities of new parents, while the truth is, your body takes care of the pregnancy mostly on its own, and the baby needs very little, except your love. I think a couple of good nursing bras and nursing singlets are essential, you can get away with those and using your "normal" buttondown shirts and cardigans on top for nursing. I actually wore wireless nursing bras from the beginning of the third trimester, as nothing else made me comfortable. 😅 I was also very happy with my BB Hugme pregnancy pillow, which is versatile and can be used both during pregnancy and for breastfeeding. Good luck with the last few weeks, and the birth! ❤

I agree with you about a lot of this! For maternity clothes I definitely think women should wait and see, if they grow out of clothes then thrift something to replace it. Everyone carries differently, so for me I only can wear maternity clothes but I thrift them all 🤷🏼♀️ I also show really early so I wear them for about 6 months each pregnancy. Prenatal chiro, it takes a few visits until you actually feel great after 😅 but agreed, very expensive. It’s mostly meant though to get baby in a great position for birth. Belly band just depends on if you need it and how your body carries the baby! I always have very very sore hips, pelvic floor, etc from the weight (and that I’ve had 4 pregnancies in 5 years 😂) so a belly band is really helpful because it distributes the weight a little more instead of all of the weight in the one spot. The giant pillow… I went without for my first 3 babies just fine but got it for number 4 (in a queen size bed) and will 10000% get it again if we have another! I was the most uncomfortable that pregnancy but I slept the best because of the pillow, it was the only time I was slightly comfortable 😅 Can’t believe you’re already nearing the end of your pregnancy! So excited to see you become a mother! You’re going to do great! ❤

I just had my baby the beginning of this month and some things you are talking about I can relate to. I did buy that big pregnancy pillow the u shape and bought it at this website which was costly and during my whole pregnancy I did not use it much, it was a hassle at night trying to move and turn around that I would use a small pillow I already had and found that was enough. That was one of my biggest regrets. I think another thing to was buying so much maternity clothes that I didn’t end up using as much and found that buying a bigger size worked well and thought it looked more flattering than some of the pregnancy clothes out there. One of theprgancy must haves that I had was the Flo app and even used the free what to expect app that I found useful with all the information on baby and mom updates. Another thing I did use was find good maternity pants since I had to go to work this was a must. I bought only 2 pair and it lasted me through the whole pregnancy. 😊

Maternity bike shorts were necessary for me, I wore those DAILY and was able to get by wearing my regular scrubs because of it. And mat jeans from the gap, wore them so much I eventually hated them lol. I liked my regular aveeno moisturizer personally. Oh and the last essential deep V stretchy, non compressing sports bras that will double as nursing bras later. size UP

In my first pregnancy I also didn’t get any maternity underwear and thought it was great, but as my body went back to “normal” I realized how horribly stretched out my underwear had become. So even though it may not seem broken now - you may have to fix it later.

I hate baths too! I have a four year old so pregnancy was a while ago but I love your channel, I'm excited for your pregnancy and am interested to see what you've found useful. In your must haves I had the prenatal vitamins, Gavisgon for my heartburn, the leggings and I signed up for a pregnancy app. I didn't bother with the pillow or stretch mark cream. I thought raspberry leaf tea was something to avoid during pregnancy as it could bring on labour? I did get some maternity clothes (some of which I still wear as found it so hard to shift that pesky pregnancy weight) and I definitely bought maternity bras which I still wear, even though I bought new underwire non pregnancy bras recently. I fear I may never go back to underwire bras after the pregnancy ones which are just so comfortable! Will you do a new baby items essentials video? I found that the hardest time not to buy things! A couple of recommendations for that stage are the Haaka electronic nail file and a microwave steriliser for bottles and breast pump equipment. They were game changers for me 😊

I’ve enjoyed your videos in the past and the topics you talk about are interesting. Recently, I’m having a hard time ignoring the eye rolls and just dramatizations of facial expressions in order to come off as entertaining. It feels unnatural. I wish you the best. I hope you have a smooth and safe delivery, as well as post partum season.
