I have a 2 year old and 7 month old. I was up 6 times last night between the 2 of them. Needless to say consistency in doing the basics is a struggle some days, but I'm learning to be less harsh on myself for not doing as much as I expect. Someimes we need some tough love to get moving, but it's important to be reasonable with the ability and resources we have each day. Some days just throwing the poopy diaper away and getting the dishes in the dishwasher before bed is the most i can do, and that's ok. 😊

I am now a grandparent- but I had five children in ten years. Anytime you have two or 3 under the age of five . . . you are in survival mode! Sleep deprivation is real; viral infections; ear infections, poopy diapers, spilled cereal, etc. Some days getting dressed is a challenge; some weeks getting a shower and hair wash is a challenge! This is a very busy season for you- it will not last forever. Someone asked me what a good day looked like for me with 3 under five - this was a younger mom with 3 under five and mine were older at the time. My response: if you aren’t on the evening news or in the ER, it’s a good day! She thought I was kidding at first, but I was serious then and still am.. This season (hindsight) is short - thank the Lord! There is a saying I read somewhere: the days may be long, but the years are short! It is true for many things, but especially parenting! Give yourself grace - lots and lots of grace!! 💕

Absolutely. When your kids are that little, the only way to get everything done is to shorten your to-do list and be flexible. Sometimes, a successful day is just keeping them fed and in one piece. Other days, you’ll be able to do that AND have the house looking like it was probably organized before the child-shaped tornadoes came through. 😂

First of all, Going to watch this video, again....GREAT ADVICE! AFTER, I declutter the remaining 30 percent out of crafting area(since I'm 80 percent down....my goal of 75 percent was NOT MET....BUT 30 percent of it was.... And, then REALIZE my crafting space is going to become a marathon....NOT a sprint....GREAT FOOD FOR THOUGHT!! 😅❤😅 Thank you.

Loving the word CONSISTENCY attached to Decluttering. It somehow opens up ... permission, forgiveness, less pressure, less perfectionism and no set deadlines! I am so aware and accepting that this is a lifetime process and I am committed to staying consistent! Decluttering is a journey ... not a destination.

I love listening to & watching the videos for inspiration! Also, find I learn something new each time! Having a box for all the items that are in the wrong place has been super helpful for me as I used to get hopelessly sidetracked each time I needed to return an item to its proper home. Now I can set these items aside & deal with the entire box later instead of getting totally absorbed in the misplaced item and forgetting what I was supposed to be decluttering! I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist with journals so prefer my google calendar - but I definitely agree that having a plan is vital. I also like to keep track of the successes so I don't get too bogged down with a problem area 🙂.

Hi Robyn! I love this video! Sometimes after lunch, I'll set my timer for 20 minutes to declutter.. rest for 30, then declutter another 20, rest for 30. Often the momentum takes over, but I always set the timer and then stop when I stop, usually around 5pm. I ALWAYS clean out my fridge and grab boxes to recycle once a week, the day I have to set out trash. Trash day is my motivator to get it out, and take advantage of the guys hauling it away. They are a huge help! Seems I need to pick a dedicated day for my 20 minute day to help me move towards a daily habit? or make it part of my morning? no, my afternoon routine! Listening to podcasts on decluttering is very motivating! Thanks so much!!

Definitely consistency. I work full time and care for a disabled sibling and elderly parents. A 15min declutter or reset on the days i have no time made a huge difference in gettiing rid of stuff and maintaining space. And the mindset shift stopped stuff coming into home. ❤

Needed to hear this today. I have never been good with goals. I am working on the internal stuff (emotional/psychological healing, internal sense of safety, believing in myself) to be able to see goal-setting as something that *I* do myself. I've been good with planning outside the home (work, church) but not in the home (the place where a lot of traumatic stuff happened). During my devotional time this morning, the phrase "Have a plan" came to mind. Maybe that's what I will focus on this year, having a plan be something I do more regularly. Hopefully I would see within myself that having a plan is part of who I am and what I do, part of my identity.

My goal this year is organization! I want to stop losing hours of my life searching for stuff. Decluttering is a huge part of it but also monitoring the triggers that cause me to buy more and more things; that wind up being donated later.

Hello Robyn, I've been enjoying listening to you but I've been hesitating to start...but I took the plunge on January 1st and decided to try the 30 day challenge you had talked about in a previous video where day 1 you get rid of one thing and so on. I can't believe I'm doing it. Thank you so much for your encouragement. Becky ❤

I have had many successes in decluttering and they all started with a plan. Some of them took more time than others, but planning and consistency worked. Last year I finally finished my storage closet that I chipped away at for a couple of years. Other goals were to practice my drawing skills. I am happy to say I have consistently spent 1 -2 hours everyday drawing. I challenged myself to one year (August to August) to do ink zen doodles. When the next August came, my next challenge was to do pencil drawings. I have not missed a day. I often reward myself by going to a local diner, to draw, and have a sandwich. This year I plan to do more watercolor paintings. This year I would like to learn/do more to market my work. I use a planner to track everything, my life in general. I’ve been doing this for years, and for me it works. The other goal is to write more, I’ve started, but not stuck with it, this year I am going to work harder if it is only a few minutes a day. It started out as my journey raising my grandson with clinical acute ADHD and clinical acute ODD and other anomalies. My position is that he was such a gift and blessing, in spite of the challenges he presented. I am so excited about this new year, once again I am creating a vision board to help me stay focused. Linda from Pennsylvania, drinking decaf black tea……. Have a Happy New Year! 🎉

Happy New Year thank you for continuing your helpful videos. My favorite decluttering tool i have found is blue painters tape. It sticks to the door of the room i need to work in. The tape is easy to write on.and i lable the clear donations bags with it when they are filled ready to go. Then the painters tape comes off the room door easy and clean and i pick a new area to label for the next week. Tuesday is my donation day consistently.

I'm planning to work a little bit on decluttering and getting things out of the house throughout the week but Saturdays (gotta get it on my calendar!) will be my reset day where I go around and the things that I want/need to keep I'll put away that got pulled out during the week so that there isn't such an overwhelming build up of clutter.

Look up Dana K White. Her no mess decluttering process is very helpful. Organizing and decluttering are 2 different things. Not the same at all. Maybe you need to work up to the areas with the piles by starting in an easier space. Can you try decluttering a junk drawer or your night stand? The bathroom? Try areas with less likelihood of paperwork or sentimental items. You can check out my blog and podcast as well!
