Our best memories can be stored in our hearts, and our brains. And to corroborate them we could take the pictures and store them in our cell phone album.

When I was doing major decluttering, I had a "later" box. This way I was able to put aside those items for another day and keep momentum in decluttering.

I did that too. It was great because later I needed something in that box and when I got that out the rest of it was so easy to deal with.

Funny thing about decluttering. I finally after yrs of keeping this and that and i might and I could excuses, finally cleaned purged that closet in the spare room. The other day I started to panic because in that room is where I keep the costco paper products. I couldn't believe we ran out,,I looked and they where not at the end of the bed where I always have them .I started to make a costco list ,went into the bedroom again to put something in the closet,,,oopsy there was all the products I had been looking for. I had forgotten I had purged and cleaned the closet so now I had room for the paper towel, toilet paper and Kleenex. I also had room for those winter coats and there is still room . Love your videos and all the inspiration, you have given me. Rita Miller

That's a really good point you make about being up-beat! I have the same problem, I constantly appear cheerful & happy to others, but it often belies the turmoil within. Many people just don't believe there's anything wrong...

Really helpful (and funny) video, thank you. Please don't apologise how you spoke about your dad, it was real and honest. I have my mum, well a few of her ashes, in a lovely tear drop and it is by far my most important possession. I bet that your dad was really proud of you and thank you for being a nurse too!

Love your shirt! I retired to the American southwest a year ago-- people ask me where I'm from, I tell them the "wet" side of Washington! LOL! Had to get out of the rain after almost 40 years.

Robin, you’re awesome! Loved the “sentimental” comment about the first time your kid tells you they hate you! 😂 You’re really helping me every day! I’m doing my deep cleaning and at the same time purging a zone several days each week. Feeling lighter and saner!

I recently discovered your channel, and was telling my daughter-in-law about you, only to hear she too just started watching your videos! Too funny! I love your energy and everything you offer to help me make progress and get out of my mess. I went from a big, clean and organized home to a small 1958 3bed, 1bath home, so it's like living in a storage unit! I use to have five units, now it's zero... if you don't count my house. Thanks so much for all the encouragement!! I'm so glad I found you!!

I had to declutter items from my mom in 2020 and it was hard. But the reason for the declutter was more urgent and that helped me clear out bags of stuff. I got rid of set of encyclopedia books too. I felt bad to throw away books, but no one wanted them. So I agree the ultimate goal is really important and it can help us get over the overwhelm. Thanks for this video.

My main decluttering regret is an ice cream scoop I had kept since my 15th birthday. It was pink plastic and had a melt at the end due to a stove incident. I thought I could use a cookie scoop instead to scoop ice cream but it never works the same. I still am able to scoop ice cream but I do wish I had kept that one thing because I tend towards sentimentality. I have worked to where if I’m keeping something I have to use it, wear it, lovingly display it or safely store it. I have WAY less storage and the things I’m storing are things I do use occasionally (like Christmas decor or canning supplies) and I’ve moved towards displaying things that cannot be used and decluttering a lot. I make almost weekly trips to goodwill to manage the inventory that comes into and then out of my home. I have my dad’s ashes and I’m going to be putting him with a tulip poplar tree. I used to have one at my old house that he visited and he really liked it. I got a transplant from another special person and I will think of them both as I care for the sapling and later enjoy the beauty of the tree. My sister has my mother’s ashes and my husband and I just built a home on her family land. I transplanted several bulb flowers during the prep process that she and my grandfather had planted. I think her ashes will go with these transplants and we can enjoy the flowers and visit her together. Thanks for sharing with us! 💗

This was a great presentation. I lost my mom in 2020 and then my dad 3 months later. Shortly after my 98 year old grandmother had to move in with us so we could take care of her. She passed in 2021. That meant 2 houses of stuff on top of my stuff. I've always been a bit of a minimalist, but dealing with the "things" they wanted me to have has been a big burden. I've made great progress, and this video has really helped me to think about them not wanting to burden me. I want to be surrounded by what makes me happy, even if it's not what they thought would make me happy. You also don't have to hold on to things of value just because they are valuable. I'm learning that if they aren't valuable to me, then I need to let them go and be loved elsewhere.

Google "Ashes Memorial Ideas." There are a lot of different sites. Some places do jewelry. One thing to remember is that it's his wife's ashes so he gets to decide when he's ready. I have my parents ashes still and it's been 6 yrs for my mom and 7 yrs for my dad. I am starting to think about scattering them but I want their ashes to all stay together. I couldn't use a little bit of their ashes because it feels wrong to me. Everyone is different so whatever anyone decides or doesn't should be respected 💕

I decluttered my girls baby clothes. I tried saving a few but they kept getting in the way. Going to declutter my kitchen table to trade it for my grandma’s kitchen table. I have always liked her table and it’s now or never. She is moving out of her house into a senior apartment complex.

The Dad ashes idea is perfect. Could you please share the info of where you had the keepsake made. I removed some of my dad's ashes to keep before he was buried. I have them in an old small film canister. I would love to make my sister and me something more beautiful for him than a plastic film canister. Thanks!
