A JetBlue Airways Airbus A320-232 registration N554JB, performing flight JBU948 from Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (KLAS) to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (KJFK) was on final approach to runway 13L at JFK when the air traffic controller instructed the flight crew to go around due to a pavement failure on the runway. When the airplane went around the pilot said: “We’re min fuel”.

You sure he said "Min fuel" or did he just say "mid field"?

Why didn't JetBlue have any reserve fuel as required by law?

They did. That's literally what the "minimum fuel" is. It's not an emergency, kinda just a heads-up for ATC that they're getting close to their reserves and can't take too many delays.

@@wloffblizz You are supposed to have enough fuel to divert to another airport if needed.

@@wloffblizz In the tri-state area your diversion airports also aren’t particularly far away, with LaGuardia being on the other side of Queens, Newark being barely into New Jersey just across the Hudson, and Westchester Airport being only 35 miles away. Thats ignoring your dire options like Teterboro, Gabreski, Bradley International, and Philadelphia International all being a fairly reasonable distance as well, granted Teterboro and Gabreski are both pretty much limited to emergency landings being relief and military airports respectively.

Why do the AARP trucks always have terrible static in their transmissions
@jyggalag169
@jyggalag169 6 күн бұрын
@@j700jam4 Because they are low to the ground and the monitoring stations these recordings come from tend not to have a good angle on their transmissions compared with the elevated control towers and the airplanes which are in the sky. The planes on the ground have more height even. It doesnt help that theres usually a LOT of noise on their side as well from the sirens.
