You could have also added about not targeting the minerals you want to pick up - if you target an item, the limpet will collect it, and then die, whereas if you don't target any items, the limpets will go back out and scoop until there's nothing left (or their timer expires).

I did this and ruined my first run with limpets lol but I still earned enough to just grab an asp explorer and outfit it with some of the high priced but mostly lower end mods. Went back out made just shy of 20 mill and now I'm working on cracking 35 mil then going back in to outfit better and speed myself up towards a python. Python feels like the first milestone.

On the note of turret mining lasers... nobody uses them 👍🏾. Turret weapons are only really used on large sized ships that can't turn very well. Hope that helped you out.

i think now with multicrew ships they could be useful, someone shoots rocks while the pilot slowly drives through the belt scooping with limpets

You can just position your ship in front of where the chunks fly off and let them fly into your cargo hatch... just remember to target them or the hopper will not collect them. I do think limpets are faster... but there are other ways. :)

Good morning - there are several different limpet controllers - look for the Collection and Prospecting limpet controllers - EDDB.io will help you find stations that sell them (I have a video on using EDDB if you need help ;-)

The top right info panel will state if the asteroid is depleted. So does the prospect limpet info panel. Itll usually announce over the computer if its depleted as well. I would assume you would need to prospecting limpet for the voice confirmation

I don’t get why you get Hauler when it takes 1 day to earn enough CR on sidewinder to buy Cobra, which gets you 32T capacity, prospector and collector limpets, refinery, shield generator, super cruise assist and 1 more free module. But thanks for showing about turret laser, I was wondering about it.

As I said in the video, I show the hauler since it's a small ship a lot of new players will have access to - and in case you missed it I then switch over to an Anaconda to show the value of a large ship. With 30 plus ships in the game, there's no way I could show everyone's favorite.

The federation area has limited supply of specific types of modules, like prospector limpit controllers for example, but given that your comment is almost a year old now, I’m guessing you’ve left the federation area and figured that out by now.

I found mining very relaxing, but at the start - it's not good for fast money... Bounty hunting was, is and as far as i know, will be best moneymakin' method at the start of the game. Especially when u use kill warrant scanner. It's like makin' a million in 10 - 15 mins if U're lucky (plus travelling to station and collecting it). However, if I ever will get at least "Conda, i will get back to mining for sure. Good vid bro. Thumbs up

I never went far in that game with passengers U know. Basicly I'm tryin' to earn couple of millions of credits next to Kremainn / LHS 3447 system, which is pretty much safe area and rich with pirates. So bounty hunting at the start. Next maybe I'll buy again amazing ASP Explorer, and go for it with my longest journey again (500 ly) ... then I'll probably will try to buy Fer-De-Lance or Conda and go with mining again. Last time I tried mining with Keelback and a pirate took me out in 15 secs.

Yes, I know some who start small and work their way up to a T6, then a Python, then an Anaconda. As soon as you're allied the payouts are pretty large.

lol on one of the first asteroids you targeted in your conda there was like 41% painite which is in the top 2 most valuble mineable materials and that is very rare and about as good as it gets. missed a decent paday :P

True, but unlucky because I wanted to show how you could have multiple prospecting limpets out at a time and how the last one dies when you reach the limit. Plus, all the painite in that rock was worth a single trip to Sothis Mining, so not really a big payday unless you're new :-)

Can you explain what you're doing with the fire groups?

Sure! Elite only supports two fire buttons, 1 and 2, but you'll sometime have several different weapons and utilities you want to fire at different times. So starting at 8:00 I set my first "Group" so fire button 1 fires my mining laser and button 2 fires a collector limpet. Fire group two I setup for my chaff and scanners. When I mine, I choose fire group 1 so I can use my laser and collector, and when I'm flying between systems (or getting attacked) I'll switch to fire group two :-) Note - check out the manual or control settings for your version of Elite to see what button changes fire groups.

Actually, if you want to have a mining ship multicrew and for mining only without fighter hangars then at least your crew mate gets to operate the turreted mining laser for you as you micro-manage the limpets and/or refinary...

Do you have a Refinery installed? Sounds like your ship has no place to put the mineral fragments you're picking up - the only place to hold mining fragments is in a refinery. Could also be your refinery is not powered if your ship doesn't have enough power?

Duuude i was trying collect data from some base on the planet using SRV. I was searching for button that allow me to collect this data. It was in turret mode. Huge facepalm. Going back to my ship i was trying to figure it out how to enter the ship with my SRV. I lost hope and thought I would just blow up the SRV with destroy option and teleport to the ship. This "destroy" also blow up my Anaconda. That's how i end here. I wanna something different. Mining! I hope i gonna understand this video cuz i really wanna mine something ;>

Hmm... I see where you're coming from. So let's say there's five different minerals floating around that's you're trying to collect but your refinery only has three bins - each BIN can only hold a single material, like gold or silver - think of it as each bin is its own little forge that accepts one type of mineral at a time - hope that helps

@@storasdiedas1 Great question - the bins do have a limit - I'm not in Elite right now but I can say if you have lots of collection limpets and a small refinery, some collected fragments will not be able to be collected because there is not enough room in your refinery - sadly the collected fragments can't be stored in your cargo racks - only refined commodities would go into your cargo racks, so if you have lots of limpets be sure to have a large refinery to match

@@storasdiedas1 2 bin refinery means that you can only refine 2 mineral type at a time. Since your limpets bring 2 of any minerals at a time, a 3rd kind of mineral can stop the refinery process and be placed in queue, which happens often since a mining rock holds more than two minerals. It’s a drag to go to your inventory and manually delete 1 mineral you don’t need so your refinery continues to refine minerals you need, that’s the case if the mineral in queue is cheap and not needed. What if your limpets bring more than 2 valuable minerals? If you have 4 bin you rarely have minerals in queue because you rarely process more than 4 valuable minerals at the same time. At least 1 mineral will not be valuable that you have to manually discard opening up space in your refinery, that way nothing stays in queue and you spend less time micromanaging your inventory, which is important during grind.

I really appreciate the sentiment - I should have explained that when Multicrew came out I was dishearten that they released it in a way that you could only make money as a crew member from combat. So, what I was poorly eluding too was, why even release any non-combat multicrew enabled devices (like the mining laser) for MC if you can't make credits, rep, experience, etc. So that's what I was getting at - kind of like a car you can sit in but not drive - why would anyone waste time mining if you can't profit (even a little)

I was just thinking maybe the tutorial side tracked you. That was a pretty impressive asteroid. That would have been about 14 painite at least. Thats what Ive collected by a low asteroids in 40%painite

You need (1) to outfit your ship with a collection limpet controller and (2) limpets which you can purchase in station services under advanced maintenance (or you can synth them in the right panel if you have the materials)

Up here in the Northeast "some of us" say all kinds of wierd things. We change things that end in "a" to "er," Like Lisa is said "Lee sirr", Soda is "Sooo dir". I could go on for hours but yeah, I often say Turrent instead of Turret, Brent instead of Brett, on and on.

The Gamers Show - No Man’s Sky looks like a game for children. I like ED. I’m not a fan of all of the management that’s not explained. There’s not even a campaign that helps to understand how to play.

@@Corion2121 there's a handbook ingame. Theres also an ingame chat. I understand hunting down stuff sometimes is a chore, but I personally prefer not to be spoon fed, so I gravitate towards games like this, EVE and X4.

Most rings are dust and pebbles and fragments. Orbits are a fickle thing. Placing two sizable rocks a foot away at one point in their orbit means they will drift toward and/or away from each other over the course of their orbit through highly-curved space. As a result, most large rocks are pulverized over the course of millions of years to form the dusty, pebble-strewn ring system. But that would be far less visually interesting than the meteor-like depiction shown in most sci-fi media.

Keep in mind the asteroid that many companies currently want to mine is mostly platinum.... something like 200 million tons of it. That is more than the GDP of the USA for several years. So asteroids are huge.... you could mine one of them for a long time.
