Minions proved to be a spinoff prequel that helped set the stage for Despicable Me. It also confirmed the Minions were NOT created by Gru, but were already around for centuries before Gru even existed. Glad Steve Carrell reprised the role in a cameo at the end. It was coming full circle.

Part of me feels like this movie was made because Illumination knew that so many people would be calling Despicable Me, "Minions," so they decided to make a film specifically about those characters so they wouldn't technically be wrong when they say there's a Minions movie.

What stands out about this movie is that not only does it have a female villain (which is very rare in animated family films for some reason) but a married villain. The only other married female villain in family animation that comes to mind at the moment is the Queen of Hearts, but in that case her husband was actually a pretty sweet guy (and terrified of her). I like that we saw a villain couple in this that actually works together in evil schemes. That's the route a lot of us wanted them to go in Wish.

Can't wait till you get to the new one. Despicable Me 4. It's my favorite in the franchise and probably in my top 10 overall. It's not as big or exciting, and the actors were having too much fun to take anything too seriously, but it sure is funny, charming, and a joy. Very well made. Can't wait to see what you think.

Hey Tim I found your video about you watching the little mermaid to return to the sea I have to say it is the first time I have seen somebody like you watch it a lot of people have forgotten about it since he's because the movie went straight to videos of being in the theatre for a year so it is incredible you came to the movie and watched it I really enjoyed watching the movie with you but I was very upset to find out the movie straight to video instead of being interference for a year so it could have a run like the little mermaid one but after the movies release 6 months later it appeared in the theatres the movie only made 45000 in African rands for us it is 25 million but it was a good movie when it came out it was famous but the people who watched it enzo's last 12 to 15 years was only 45000 fans so I'm surprised some people knows the movie and I'm very passionate about the movie in fact all movies I really enjoyed watching the minions with you as well I actually forgot about this movie but please send me a reply if you think we should make a little mermaid to in real life because that movie was so sweet and famous when it came out

9/10 Super Cute. Minions isn't as great a story as Despicable Me, but it's definitely a lot of fun. It's just a silly little story, giving some background to the little corn pops. I really had a good time watching it. There's lots of goofy action, and thank god, it wasn't full of stupid bathroom humour. It was actually pretty funny. The kids will like it. My favourite part of the movie was the soundtrack. The movie takes place in the 60s, so the songs comes from that era. It's going to introduce so many kids to a lot of good music, and you can never go wrong with that, especially nowadays.

This is honestly one of the most annoying and poorly thought up movies I have ever seen from a big name studio, especially one from Illumination. Not only do I hate the Minions, but the fact that they got their own spin off movie and surpassed a billion dollars at the box office is just baffling, especially as it makes the general public think that animation is something only for kids when that's not the case... There's a bunch of animated stuff that's for adults too people, come on. The so call "characters" are just very basic stereotypes, Kevin is the leader, Stuart is a musician, Bob is the energetic kid. Their actions near the end of the movie don't make any sense as they're looking for villains to serve, not to mention we don't see anyone of the minions hurt once to die, and I refuse to buy that Kevin is alive without an explanation. I don't care if it's cartoon logic, there should be a logical explanation to surviving the harm, like Stitch from Lilo and Stitch, especially that the Minions were I think originally create in Gru's lab or something (be a while since I saw the original Despicable Me). At least Scarlet Overkill and her husband Herb are interesting characters to a degree. Too bad they get wrecked by the Minions before Gru came in which is embarrassing to them. To give this movie credit, at least it's better than some sick and disgusting movies in today's day an age that Hollywood creates, but that's not really saying much in my eyes as someone who's interested in the field of animation.
