Minirig 4 vs Minirig 3 - high volumes

Just my pennies' worth, with the 4, it seems like minirig are aiming it more at the professional/audiophile, which is always more analytical/clinical sounding where the 3 is warmer, suited for the average listener as thats what the majority prefer. This debate will forever go on within "hifi" related content, and at the end of the day, it's subjective. If i was minirig, i would be putting everything i can into the new sub, not some half arsed approach because if they tune that right e.g some depth, that could be an absolute game changer, night and day vs. the MR3 and quite possibly against most portable bluetooth speakers on the market. Time will tell!

its hard for me to get my head around these cheap bluetooth speakers geared at audiophiles to be honest. I can understand preferring a bass light bright signature but i dont understand how this is audiophile??? at least the minirig is highly resolving and comes alive when paired with a second mk4 or the sub. but one on its own in mono with nothing much under 100hz and a bit of a high end lift, how is this hifi? 🤷‍♂️ just my take, you have been subbed for many years so you know my stance 😁😁 each to his own but i dont get the logic. welcome your pennies worth, debate is good.

@alanrossreviews I couldn't agree with you more, Alan. I should have typed "aiming" in big bold letters if only YT allowed. How i should have worded it was... as far as "bluetooth portables" go minirig, are "aiming" at the more audio enthusiast/professionals. As farfetched as that is. I agree with you. Bluetooth speakers have serious limitations to ever be classed as hi-fi and certainly not audiophile level. My bad wording again - apologies!. It was just my initial thoughts on what they were trying to go for as much as they could with the new bizzare decisions on the tuning of the MR4, because the facts are evident most listeners on YT or actual end users are clearly stating the MR3 is a more enjoyable coloured listen. Which is just how a bluetooth speaker should be. If you're doing your critical listening on a bluetooth portable, then, well, you know the rest...😅. You mix solid points with fun. This is why I've been subbed for as long as I have. So many reviewers are scared to tell it how it is, so keep it up, chap!.

@alanrossreviews Yh Alan, this is unrelated but I've been meaning to ask, how do you know the particular volume a speaker is playing at like say 35%, 50%, 70%...if i am increasing/decreasing volume on my Android(Samsung) phone, it doesn't show volume percentage, i just guess with my eyes following the volume bar & know I've hit above 60% when it shows red

I'd go for the MK3 for sound between the two but the underlying issues of reliability is a turnoff to me with minirigs in general. Thank you for another awesome 🩳, Alan! 😁👍👏

you mean brighter 👍 bass light and bright is often the preferred sound signature of many saying they like a neutral sound. no offence just pointing out what you are actually describing as hifi is just bass light and bright. however it is quite resolving so on that basis you are correct.

Но зачем это делать, если в приложении есть ползунок высоких частот? Вероятно, ползунок изменяет также и средние частоты....

A question: do u try to normalize the audio output? For example, I tested my speakers with 2 different phones, neutral EQ and dolby atmos off. They sounded totally different. Also do u think Aptx codec increases quality, besides the low latency output, applicable mainly for videos?

it says in the clip normalised so yes. i do think aptx makes a difference depending on the quality of your tracks.

Are you gonna review JBL Boombox 4 in the future? If I made a comprison. I would compare all latest Boomboxes, like Sony, Tribit and etc, you understand my point and of course JBL Boombox 3 and 3 WiFi vs JBL Boombox 4 and etc.

Is it worth getting minirig atall? I had the mk1 and sub back when they first came out and they lasted me a good 5 years before i sold them on. I haven't had them for a while and I'm considering getting another set again. I had a Bose Soundlink mk2 but it died not long ago. Want something decent and not sure wether to get minirig or bose or going to another brand entirely.

if you buy two, you mean the mk4?, mk4s come alive when paired and with the sub but one on its own not so much.

@@alanrossreviews Yeah the mk4s, I have looked on the website but they don't have any subs in stock and they're really hard to find online. Also goes to show that once you've got a minirig set with a sub you never want to replace or sell it on. xD

Minirig must like their ears to bleed. I never understood the mini rig following. Iv tried the minirig 3 the mini rig mini and the sub. The only one i thought was ok was the sub but it wasn't mind-blowing. I had constant app glitches and the one minirig was having issues. Returned everything and gave up on miririg. Sure there speakers can go loud but at the cost of any quality bass. They might well make kitchen radios.

the problem is the sound hasnt progressed in 5 years, maybe more depending on what you thought of the mk3. they are in complete denial, trust me, they claim they get good feedback and they knew i wouldn't like the bass. that's what we are dealing with now with the company.
