By some distance the best Ministry album. A nice, heavy dose of sludge metal alongside the industrial. Perfect music for being miserable and addicted to drugs. This song always reminded me of a mix between Helmet and Scratch Acid. Fun times kids!
@igreels_poster3 жыл бұрын
"Perfect music for being miserable and addicted to drugs." damn right! spent 10 months of my life addicted to downers and filth pig was the only album aside from dark side of the spoon that i felt truely captured how i felt. trapped in my misery, but the misery is home and quitting whats making me miserable would feel like moving to another country. so far from home, from comfort, that i wouldnt be able to cope. 2 months off downers now, but jeez that time period was awful.
@davidwallin57343 жыл бұрын
Ministry really does sound like Helmet here--not that it's a bad thing. Deftones has done well with borrowing Helmet's sound. This one and "Crumbs" are perfect soundtracks to misery and addiction. Filth Pig is one of those CD's that I love, but the creator hated making, which just goes to show sometimes the best art comes out of complete desolation. Al Jourgensen's description of the making of Filth Pig sounds horrendous: he was divorced, addicted to heroin and pressured to continue using samples and programming since it worked for Psalm 69. There were people in the industry and his band enabling his self-destruction because they ultimately made money. Overall, I've never seen more of a discrepancy between how much I've enjoyed a CD and the critical response.

It's the Ministry album that was way before its time. Like for me I was listening to this maybe when I was 15 or 16. I'm 42 now... And God Damn is this shit resonating... And I've never once in my life done smack and some other HEAVY shit... But it's really vibrating right now. It makes sense without making sense like some psychedelic drug.

Another day, another knife in the back It's happened so many times, I stopped tryin to keep track You're stuck stickin' it in, you're stuck stickin' it in Take it up to the hilt to cover up your own fuckin' guilt And when the shit goes down you're out of places to hide No time to ask could the motherfucker really survive Get a load of this fuck, he's the dead guy It's just a natural cut? you never fuckin' possessed You lost control of my life you want control of the rest You're always stickin' it in, you're always stickin' it in You stuck it so many times you... Kind of amazing how brief Ministry were a new wave band, but how stuck on that particular sound many of their fans were. I like all eras of Ministry and never held a grudge against them for giving up the synths and fake british accent by this time. This album is one of my all-time favorites.
