LEGO BUMBLEBEE Transformers Set Designer Interview + Prototypes!

In this video, I'll be sharing footage from inside LEGO HQ, where the $90 LEGO Bumblebee Transformers set was revealed and I was able to interview the set's designer to get hands-on with the new set!
This took place at LEGO HQ in Billund, Denmark as a part of RLFM Days 2023.

I think Soundwave is a given but G1 Megs will never happen unfortunately because of his gun mode. Wish I was wrong.

@@GP-tt2te Megatron can instead turn into a tank. Now the question is whether the tank would be 'sci-fi-looking' enough (like Star Wars tanks, for example), because TLG (Lego) simply won't be willing to produce anything that resembles modern-day military stuff too much. For example, Hasbro's G2 Megatron (the toy) from the early '90s turned into a main battle tank and its robot mode looked very much like the G1 cartoon iteration of his from the '80s, save for the bizarrely striking camo, of course. Paradoxically, the 'bot mode of G2 Megs' looked MUCH more like the G1 cartoon Megs than the G1 toy Megs.

@@Megs_the_gamer Yeah I get that but for me if they're going to go Megatron he has to be the gun. I prefer they don't do him at all if they won't do his gun form. No interest in tank Megatron but that's me.

When I visited Legoland in California back in July of 2000 I got to display my custom Optimus Prime Lego head for 2 days that I had designed. I got to talk to some Master Lego Builders and I had a VIP pass to enter the park early and go into certain locations that were off limits to the rest of the public and I got to see a sneak preview of new sets that were coming out the following year. Since then I’ve increased the design of my custom Optimus Prime to a full bust that stands 3’ 7” tall and 3’ wide. I even built the Autobot insignia into each of his shoulders. And I’ve used the old Lego LEDs and fiber optic bricks to light up his eyes that I got back in 1987. I still make improvements from time to time but I want to make the whole body some day when I get enough Red, White, and Blue Lego pieces to finish it all off. This project has lasted me nearly 25 years from when I started it. I started building it back in November of 1999 and I made him bigger and bigger for 2 years and now it’s been in a stand still with the exceptions of little changes that I’ve made when new pieces come out that I think can improve the look of certain areas and I replace some of the old pieces and I purchase the new pieces and put them on my design. It currently has more than 7000 pieces and I’ve lost track of the exact count of the pieces but it is huge and my biggest project that I’ve made out of Lego. Happy building.😊

Cool to see this extra story behind the design. Having to remove the windscreen to transform feels a bit like cheating, but re-purposing it as jetpack is kinda clever at the same time

I'm normally not a fan of taking parts off of transformers for the transformation, but it doesn't really bother me here

@@prons_gaming5083 I agree it's not a big deal here, since the removed part does get re-used and there are still physical limitations, where a cartoon doesn't have to worry about, they can just simply draw it so it fits.

If universal studios decides continue the original Lego movie story here my imagine Is a crossover movie with Hasbro and Lego here's how what I imagine the plot goes after rex defeated Syspocalypstar was in peace and harmony until was attack by a group of Villains from the Hasbroveres (Megatron, Queen Chrysalis, Cobra Commander, Miles Mayham and Cy Kill) lead by the brickster Emmett and the Syspocalypstar Citizens try their best to defend themselves but they were to powerful most of them are taken prisoners only Emmett, Lucy, Batman, Unikitty ,Benny,President Business,Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi,General Sweet Mayhem and MetalBeard manage escape until they were surrounded by Megatron and Queen Chrysalis all hope seems lost until a truck run over on Megatron and it was Revealed to be non other than Optimus Prime leader of the Autobots and he was not alone the Alicorn princess Twilight Sparkle, Duke The Gi joe Agent ,Matt Trakker leader of M.A.S.K. and Leader one leader of the guardians they told them come with them they promised gonna help them rescue the others

On the no war issue we have starwars sets that have guns. But star wars is completely fictional and not based on military or real world events. I don't see a problem with this having sets like transformers and starwars and still staying true to anti war sentiment.

From what I saw on DuckBricks video on this, the designer said the prototype VW Bug car mode of BB was perfect, but changing him into robot mode was a big problem. There no excuse for no knee bend. Mods were made with a good knee bend on OP, so I don't see why it couldn't be done with BB.
