It's amazing how happy we can be living such a simple life. We live in a 30 ft shuttle bus on an acre of land and we have a much simpler life than when we lived in LA I love my life now. We got rid of so much stuff when we moved into our bus and there's still so much more we have to get rid of. I'm definitely not a minimalist or even an environmentalists, but I seeing how much happier I am living simpler and off grid. Look at you so young and traveling wherever and whenever you want. So many people are working stressful jobs to pay for things they don't need and won't retire and be able to do what you're doing until they're in their 60s. If people realized that you can be happy living simple they wouldn't have to work so hard and could retire at a very young age. Have fun and definitely be safe out there. If you're ever in Pahrump you're welcome to park on our property!

Hey Emma, I've been doing mini vanlife for about 5 yrs, working full-time and living stealth. Clothes storage and management has been my most frustrating challenge. I've tried several configurations, including a chest similar in size to your giant bin. This did not last long. I've tried the put-your-clothes-in- throw-pillows trick. Meh. They make a heavy, lumpy pillow. The tough, see-thru plastic bags with a zipper (like for winter clothes storage) are really good for organizing clothes. Unlike bins, they take up less space as you remove clothes. I liked everthing about them, except the aesthetic and the feel of plastic. Decided to try something else. Currently, i use 3 smaller bins made from canvas with bamboo frames and lids that I fold & sort my clothes into--sometimes by type like pants &shorts in 1, shirts in another. If I'm really organized, I'll prep the week's worth of work outfits and have that in 1 bin and all the remaining clothes sorted by type in the other bins. As for folding, i do a combo Marie Kondo with a military roll which is basically a nice fold, then tuck it into an end. I can toss my clothes around and they stay folded. Also their uniform folded size fits perfectly in the bins when they're placed on edge in the bins (not stacked on top of each other,) so i can see my clothes at a glance and don't have to go rooting around (usually 😉) One great and unexpected thing about vanlife is doing laundry. After my clothes are finished drying at the laundromat, i toss them in the van, drive to a nice park with a view, open up the van, sit on my bed, then do my folding and putting away. The most relaxed laundry days; I almost look forward to them. Lol. Just some ideas for your consideration 😊

Oh god the pantry is awful lol you can really tell where my priorities lie 😂 and yeah these towels are the best! Im at a laundromat replying to comments at this very moment and you reminded me to throw my towels in the wash lol

Nice set up. You have a lot of stuff but still look so organized. I grew up in the 70s and did all types of camping over my life. From sleeping on the ground, open pickup beds, tents to pop up tt, class C and travel trailers that were more like a small mobile home. I got rid of everything but kept all my camping gear, a screen room and 2 tents. I liked the feeling of being a little closer to nature, but being older, I need a little more comfort. I have a caravan and SUV that I plan to use for little trips until my husband retires in a few years. Then we plan to travel and use our minivan mostly. We have done the beaches and mountains with hotels, cabins and vacation homes. Now is the time for more nature trips and hidden gems. I used to work in healthcare. (Still have my license. Almost 30 years). New sub to see your experiences and to get ideas that work for others.

Great, practical, thorough, fun, super sweet n cute, wholesome. With a fork I push black sheer fabric into the interior plastic ceiling supports for my curtains (cost: 20 for then entire back area and I use the fork to push the bottom corners of the curtains into spaces that accommodate... super simple plus in nature I can alter the curtain openings for artistic window views... and after about the 7th year I started just leaving the curtains up all the time...except for nature views). Like you, I'm neat and organized yet I have less stuff than you. GREAT posts Emma. You're now one of my favorites!

The laundry bags. I think one is for the dirty laundry and the other for the clean laundry. I was going to suggest some bungi cords for the stuff underneath your bed that comes out wherever you turn. Connect a bungi cord to the leg of your bed to the other bed leg. It might keep your stuff from coming out when you make turns. 😊✌🏼❤️ Best wishes:) Stay safe 🙏🏼

Thanks for the "tour"! You're refreshing and beautiful as I'm sure you know, or should know. I thought I get my hair cut short but you take it to a way nother level 😊kinda looks like this. What a phase you can tell your future that you went through. But it's cool. I'm from the 70's and and went through quite a few myself. So keep keeping yourself safe. BTW like your travel stickers. I drove through Utah too and saw the vastness for hours all around me! Kind of air conditioned all my thoughts as if the red strange formations of all those mountains took control of them. By the time I got to St. George I was good. It was pretty special. Keep sharing your life on the road!

I like your setup! I've been living out of my 2007 xtrail while travelling. I have the same fan, it's amazing. I also feel the same way about my shower/change tent, lol. Such a PIA to pull down, but it has been super nice the times I have used it. I think I'll try to find a different system in the future though, because anything that is in the slightest inconvenient, I get over doing. For my closet, I bought one of those carry on closets and it gives a permanent home feeling. Excess clothes that I'm not using that season, I tuck them in the multitude of extra spaces (like around the spare wheel). I've even managed to fit my mtn bike upright in my space. I sleep between it and my fridge, it's very cosy!

Window covers are expensive even if you make them. I spent way more than that and still made them. But they are 3/4 “ thick with black fabric glued onto one side

Think about considering a neck knife 🔪 when you hike they really van useful when my mother traveled and hiked alone. Plus when it’s visible around your neck people are more inclined to leave you alone witt that simple determent. You can quickly access too You are doing awesome

I love your passenger foot well organization, and shoe collection. I have almost the exact same thing in my Jeep, I’ve got my 3 x 125 inline speed skates, a pair of running shoes, a pair of cycling shoes, partitas, and a pair of vans. Any similar assortment of cables.

Something I really like about your setup is that it's kind of a no-build build (except for the bed platform) and _doesn't_ just look like "a car stuffed full of cr*p". I know, I know...makes me sound all critical and judge-y of other folks, which bothers me a bit. But keeping a neat living space that doesn't look like it belongs on an episode of "Hoarders" in something that small is an art. 👍

I love your set up! I have a very similar set up with my van. I have bungee across the ceiling as well and it's so easy to put the sheets down with that! However, I'm not sure if you showed it in another video, how did you use nets for you windows? I tried using velcro but it kept peeling of during the heat.
