The haste to show the painting in a short time led to a messier application and the need to go back over to make corrections. Normally I would expect less aggressiveness.

All day. Think of this paint as a single drop of liquid. It wants to pool into recessed areas. As it dries it will tend to pull itself into the cracks staining what is left behind and concentrating in the deepest most irregular areas making it darker and more saturated. The key is to get 1 coat on entirely and quickly so it dries all at the same time

Interesting! So one of the strong characteristics (glazing over the (wraitbbone) base colour) is also one of its weak characteristics because you have to be dead accurate to get rid of the transition colour between them, in this case the green if you dont want that. Which means it functions best when the surfaces have clearly separated structures.
@yurithebrave
@yurithebrave 5 жыл бұрын
From all the videos of Contrast paints I've seen it seems like they work really bad on symmetrical and artificial surfaces (anything technological, space marines, etc.), pooling up where they shouldn't and giving quick and very mediocre effects. But on organic, assymetrical, rugged surfaces like this magnificent Carnosaur model they really do shine! I guess they would also be really good for things like GW's Death World scenery. I'm interested to see more.

@idontwanttopickone

Apparently, it's all acrylic based (like the rest of the GW range and most other good water based model paints) so any acrylic model primer should work fine. I would recommend watching Lukes APS video on how to get the best out of any rattle can primer, some good tips there. But I would ignore the bit where he says you can use any rattle can (car) primer, stick to the acrylic primer - if you ever want to strip your models you'll want to use an acrylic primer, you'll thank me 10 years from now when you want to put models on e-bay and see that stripped/new looking models get far higher price. And if you use something that's not for models double check it by spraying it onto a bit of sprue or a spare bit of model and paint over it with the paint you are going to use, as some spray paints might react badly with the model or the paint you use on top. Hope it goes well. Happy painting! Good luck!
