I just got a 55lb 54in bow mounted on my river hawk pro v. I mounted a in boat charger to the batterie box. Your correct the boats a little hard to steer when the settings around 9 or 10 but it moves my 16ft boat like a champ.

Thanks for your input on this motor, really agree with you on the foot controller being as thin as it is that’s the main reason I’m going with this model, rented a boat with the motor guide and did not like the high brick like foot controller.

Hey Don, As I said on an earlier post, you sold me on this model. However, I seem to have a hard time deploying the Powerdrive from the stowed position, even when putting a fair amount of leverage on the the Deploy Assist Lever. The part that hooks onto the Latch Collar is free, but the motor still doesn't deploy. Then suddenly after pushing up & down and wiggling the shaft, it finally "jumps" loose and then I can deploy it.. Have you encountered any issues like this? I've done searches on it and it looks like I'm not the only one, but no one seems to have a good fix. Just curious if you have had any issues.

Yes every once in a while that Power Drive seemed like it would stick and be hard to deploy. It didn't happen every often for me, but every once in a while it was hard to deploy, and I never really knew why. This year with my new boat I traded off the Power Drive that was on it and bought a new Minn Kota Terrova. The Terrova has a different way to deploy and it's much easier then the older models. I'm guessing Minn Kota saw the problem so they changed the deployment system on the Power Drives.

Thanks, guess I will keep on keeping on. I did read where someone said to squirt some armor-all on the shaft where it latches and also goes into the body where the shaft slides in, so will get that a try. I thought about wd-40, but really, it should work without it, especially since I bought it brand new last November and have probably deployed it maybe 15 times at the most.

I just got a bargain on a Power Drive. My fishing buddy upgraded to a Minn Kota with spot lock. He sold me his Power drive 24 volt for $100 and a two pack charger for $20. I have an 18 foot Bass Tracker Pro with OEM Motor Guide cable foot control and 12/24 electrical. I will convert to 24 volt only. The boat is already wired with 6 gauge wiring.

I have the copilot system if you ever change your mind and want a remote. I finally saved up and added the I pilot to mine. I really like the autopilot feature. I was disappointed though because you lose the connection for the foot control.

I just did a video last week on the I pilot and how I wouldn't get it because I'd lose my foot control. I may do the co pilot after all. The key to the co pilot is 2016 is the breaking point. The 2017 models will use a different version of co pilot then 2016 and older motors.

You can not add ipilot on powerdrive only powerdrive v2 someone told me that is it true?

I just bought the same trolling motor for my 24' pontoon. For my boat, it is definitely strong enough to move it with ease, though I never ran it above speed position 7. You sold me on it. I do have one question (concern). Because of the design of my trailer, I have to remove the motor from the quick release bracket when loading the boat on the trailer. This means I have to remove the screw-tension knob from the bracket while in water. I was trying to come up with some method whereby I could "tether" the bolt to either the bracket or the deck of my pontoon. I realize it is just a 1/4x20 bolt with a knob on it, but still, would not want to drop it over water. Any thoughts on securing or tethering it?

Had the same thought. I suppose a guy could drill a hole in the plastic so you could tie it to the motor. In Jan. I plan to do a video on the I Pilot and Co Pilot for the power drive. They're both nice, but not necessarily for everyone.

I have a 15ft tracker topper I use for fishing I would love to put a foot controlled trolling motor on. Would you recommend this option? I have seen a few on craigslist and price seems to be right.

My 55 pound Power Drive did very well with my Tracker. On calm water it would move mine at 3 mph.

I did not have a plug for my power. I had the power lines wired directly to a buss bar which was connected to the battery.

There is no reverse, you spin the motor around 180 degrees.
